My family and I visited the Starbucks branch at Muizenberg Beach on 5th February, and the experience was extremely disappointing. Upon entering, there was only one staff member mopping the floor. A family member who had never been to Starbucks before tried asking for a drink recommendation, saying “hello” multiple times, but was completely ignored. Instead, the staff member continued mopping and then spoke to a male customer in their own language, completely ignoring us. We also wanted to use the restroom before ordering, but the second staff member there refused to respond when we asked, only gesturing vaguely to a sign after multiple attempts. The service was appalling. It felt as though staff only acknowledged certain customers based on skin color, ignoring us entirely while welcoming others. Because of this, we left without ordering six drinks and instead went to the restaurant next door, Kauai, where we received proper service. This branch needs serious attention in customer service and inclusivity.
On 27 June 2025, we purchased a Snuggletime co-sleep cot from Clicks Baby (Canal Walk). The cot remained sealed and unused until 9 January 2026, when our baby outgrew her bassinet. When my husband set up the cot, we discovered damaged netting, a missing zip, and missing zip teething — rendering the cot unsafe and unusable. We returned the cot to Clicks Baby on the same day (9 January 2026) and since then have experienced nothing but delays, broken promises, and complete lack of accountability. We contacted Clicks Baby multiple times, were repeatedly promised call-backs that never happened, and only received responses when we chased them again days later. Nearly a month later, there is still no resolution. Clicks Baby management refuses to issue a refund, despite selling a defective product, and instead redirected us to the Snuggletime supplier, claiming there is “only so much they can do.” The supplier has not contacted us at all, and every attempt we’ve made to reach them by phone has failed. In the meantime, our baby has been forced to sleep in our bed, which we made Clicks Baby fully aware of — including the serious safety risk of her crawling or falling off. This concern was met with indifference. This experience has shown no care, no urgency, and no concern for infant safety. Once Clicks Baby had our money, we were effectively abandoned to deal with the problem ourselves. This level of service is unacceptable, irresponsible, and deeply disappointing, especially for a retailer selling baby products. We are still waiting to be contacted. I would strongly caution other parents before purchasing baby items here — when something goes wrong, you are completely on your own.
