Discovery invest does not care about people, it only wants money. I invested money with them, ten years ago, which has gained less than zero percent interest. When I enquire about it, they just pass the buck and the response I get is basically. Oh it's just inflation'. Your money would do better in a savings account. Furthermore, Discovery bank is not a bank by a long shot. It's a capitalist ruthless entity with zero customer service. I have been hounded by them relentlessly while there is no way of getting to speak to someone.
Discovery bank is not a bank by a long shot. It's a capitalist ruthless entity with zero customer service. I have been hounded by them relentlessly while there is no way of getting to speak to someone. The same goes for Discovery invest. I invested mine with them, ten years ago, which has gained less than zero percent interest. When I enquire about it, they just pass the buck and the response I get is basically. Is it necessary to import water from Europe to sell to customers in South Africa? I just had coffee with a friend at Taschas in Nicolway. Expecting to pay a slightly higher than normal price for the experience, I was taken aback when the bill arrived with a R75 charge for a botlle of water. Not only is it unnecessary, it is also completely ******** of the cost to the environment to transport water from Europe to sell in a place where we have some of the best water in the world! I will think twice before visiting Taschas again.
A scammer has used the name Urban Task Force to send fake Proof of payment sms's that look like they come from Nedbank. Here is one of them: Nedbank Payment-Notification:Urban Task Force Properties has paid R8000.00 into Absa Acc****014161 on 23-02-2022@15:47,Ref:Ronald /Nedbank Helpline: 0860555111 The man, who called himself Ronald, sent an uber/bolt (registration number CAA279452) to pick up the goods after I received the proof of payment which looked legit - I felt a bit nervous but it all seemed okay. The number he called from is 073 480 8750. I will be reporting this to the police but in the meantime he is damaging the reputation of Urban Task Force.
Today my phone went missing somewhere between one shop and the next. The discovery was so unexpected and retracing my steps revealed nothing - which led me to believe that I ad been pickpocketed. Upon arrival at Cell C in mainstream shopping centre, Hout Bay, I asked the shop assistant what was required from me for a sim swop besides my ID and proof of residence which I had on me. I was told that I need an affidavit from the police confirming that my phone was lost or stolen. I felt frustrated but went off to get the affidavit. If you've never been to the police for an affidavit - this is how it works: You rock up, ask for an affidavit, filling a form with your story - and the police officer stamps and signs it - no questions asked. When I arrived back at Cell C with my affidavit I was told that I had to recall the 5 most recent or frequently called numbers I had dialled. Recalling any numbers is hard for me these days as I have no need to memorise them anymore - as much as I hate to admit that. I did give her svereal numbers of family members which I knew I had contacted vai whatsapp in the past 3 days but the assiatnce would not accept them, saying none of them 'corresponded. I again rteiterated that I didn't actually phone oustide of whatsapp anymore and when I did it ws to banks and other institutions of which I ah to look the numbers up and would obsviously not be able to recall them. I was still refused help and the other assistanct said it was simply impossible for them to assist me if I did noit recall the dialled numbers. By then I ws very frustrated and mde it very clear. When I got home I saw an email on my computer from oen fo my clienst who had received an SMS from my phone asking for a R500 ewallet transfer to my phone number. It was clearly from the person who now has my phone which I communicated to my client. I raced off to find another Cell C outlet and finally did, at Blue Route mall. At first the assistant was very helpful but then refused to accept my Government crested and stamped official temporary ID without another police affidavit stating that it is an official Government endorsed temporary ID! I eplained that the person who had my phone was trying to gte money out of my contacts and was told it's not Cell C's policy to accept the temporary ID from government without a police affidavit - which, as I mentioned earlier is nothing more than a stamp and signature endorsing a story which can be a made up fabrication for all the police cared - as long as the person requesting the affidavit stated that it is indeed true! Needless to say I am not impressed with the way Cell C treated me today.
Discovery has recently launched yet another 'division' in their ruthless pursuit of market dominance and wealth by any means. The Capitalist giant is very good at taking money from people but very slow on customer service. A few weeks ago I was informed via email that my Discovery card will no longer bye managed by FNB but by the new so called 'bank' Discovery has launched. 2 weeks ago I did an EFT payment itno my discovery card as usual. Only to discover that the last digit of the account had been chnaged on Discovery's side and the funds transfer did not happen. I still don't have the money in my card in spite of numerous emails and calling their call centre. On 26 June I made a cash payment into my Discovery card at Pick n Pay - which is listed on the Discovery card webSIte page of one of the ways to pay. It is now 30 June and that payment too is still not in my card. the only response I have had from them in all this time is form their 'noreply' email address informing me that my query has been given a number and will be attended to. I am still waiting. I urge anyone to think twice befOre joining a so called bank with zero history operating as a bank. It is companies like this that create Inequality in the world by a lack of integrity.
I arrived at the airport to dicover I ahd left my Drivers licence at home. The supervisor on duty said they Kulula does accept certified copies of ID if it is lost, which mine is - in fact it was stolen along with my wallet. I did have a valid copy of my ID on my - certified by the police. The supervisor refused to accept it. I asked her to please be helpful and assist me. She still refused point blank. Therefore I had to change my flight AND get a taxi home to tecth my driver's licence. this is very disappointing treatment and makes me not want to fly with this airline again
Last year I noticed money being debited from my bank account for a company I didn't recognise. The descriptor was just 'ICS Member'. I couldn't place the name or link it to any service I had received. When I saw the debit again I went to my bank and asked them who it was. They couldn't find the name but reversed the transaction. Bering buys at the time I don't follow through on finding out the identity of the company and so I put the issue on the back burner. Recently I noticed the debit again. This time the bank traced the debit to ICS, based in Durban. I called them and found out what they supposedly offer - services I had never used. After asking the 'agent' to stop the debit order which he assured me was done, I did remember such a company calling me out of the blue, as they do, and trying to sell me their services over a year ago. I don't recall the details of the conversation, but as the agnate had invited me to do, I could visit their office in Durban to listen to the recording of the conversation which they say proves I signed up for their service. Is it even legal to cold call people and use the calls as binding contracts? Whatever the case may be, I don't recall signing up for their 'services' and I still don't know what they actually do - listing their services as 'legal assist', 'holiday assist', student assist' etc. So now I am still trying to end their debit orders from my account which amount to R398 per month - for NO SERVICES RENDERED! And when I called them again this morning, I was told by the 'receptionist' that she was putting me through to their accounts department - the transfer simply ended in a silent line with no-one on the other end. It seems very likely to me that ICS, Interactive Credit Solutions, a Durban based company, is just another SCAM. I am in the process of finding legal advice to get all my money back and expose them as fraudsters.
I have had a Dial Direct insurance Policy since last year - it covers my car and laptop only. On 6 July 2015 I noticed an additional amount of R127,48 deducted from my bank account for 'Dial Direct Life'. After contacting them I discovered that they had signed me up for life insurance without my consent or knowledge. Five monthly premiums had already been deducted before I noticed. After my complaint an agent called o say that it would be cancelled and I would have to wait 2 weeks for my refund - which is really unacceptable in principle - especially since they took the money illegally in the first place. The agent did say that I could get the last premium within 2 days if I went through a certain process. I cancelled my car insurance policy on 28 July via email. An agent called me the next day to cancel it. Today, 12 August, their system attempted to deduct the premium for August again. After emailing them today, an agent called me to explain the debit order bounced on 27 July, wand resent again for a mid-month deduction, blaming it on the banking system. Surely if someone cancels a policy, Dial Direct should check the status of debit orders. Too much of this in SA. <div><br></div><div>(Supplier name changed from DialDirect to 1Life by hellopeter.com)</div>
