TAL sells malfunctioning SAMSUNG phones
Do not buy any cell phone from TAL. I made that mistake. My SAMSUNG A56 started to do odd things. It could not even handle its own SAMSUNG wallet. After much investigation at my cost incl talking to SAMSUNG SA it was found that this phone was never supposed to be sold in RSA as it was destined for UAE. TAL has zero control and interest in that respect. My pragmatic win-win suggestions to resolve it were all rejected.

Asus South Africa
I should have checked the reviews first. Poor attitude.
I bought a brand new desktop PC. It lacks the usual cables for a second harddrive inside. With hard work I eventually find out what I need and how to connect it on the motherboard. I bought a power cable, but it does not fit. Then I learn it's because ASUS uses proprietary sockets. That is annoying enough, but it gets worse. Nobody has such cable, not even ASUS and their repair centres. And when challanged they do not care about that either. So I am stuck. Their phone system sucks as their recorded menu person has such a hard accent that is really impossible to understand. I had to guess my way through the menue.

Amazon South Africa

Amazon, aka the one day wonder
Amazon, aka the one day wonder. First order pretty good. Second order a failure. Attempts to correct it failed dismally too - not once, but twice. So we are going back to Takealot (as we now have direct access to someone in charge after several problems). And then we delete all Amazon accounts in our family. What a pity that they wasted their chance so badly.

Daddy's Deals

Daddy's deals sells vouchers of non existing vendors and refuses a refund
I bought a voucher on 15/09/24, which is valid until 31/12/24. On 20/12/12 I tried to use it. The vendor's email was not answered. The vendor's number seems permanently "currently not available". We drove around and even asked 5 centre management employees from Access Park, none knew about the vendor. Maybe it never existed in the 1st place. I asked for a refund same day, but Daddy's Deal is denying a refund although voucher is still valid. This is undue enrichment and a ****. Stay away from Daddy's (****) Deals.

Telkom

Late and no response
I was quoted 10 days lead time, They came and went. I chased and eventually was given an installation date. Technician just rocked up without prior appointment which was not agreed. Then left after 2 minutes and did nothing. Repeated follow ups by emails to even his superior Vernon Hendricks yielded zero response. A post on FB yielded zero response. No telephone numbers are revealed even on request. Ironic, from a telecommunication provider. So Telkom cannot even do basics like installing a simple ADSL line anymore. They had decades of practise and it appears now to be rocket science.
Reference No: ***
Order No: ***

OUTsurance

The usual disaster each time
Too much too mention what they managed to mess up just to lodge a claim. Happens almost each time. I hold my breath what else can go wrong with this simple claim. So far I have managed to make most of my clients to leave Outsurance as they cannot comprehend simple things. One cannot even lodge a complaint online without giving personal private confidential but IRRELEVANT info. I complained to 4 people and none of them did anything about it. ABSOLUTELY USELESS. It took them 23h from claiming just to get to the premises where a burst geyser caused the tenant not to have any water..... People, my advise is stay away from all direct insurers and bank insurances,. They are the worst.

CUM has no customer service at all - period
Customer Care:
They do not answer calls. They generally do not have voice mails. When there is a voicemail function they do not return calls/voice mails. They clearly do not care. I have to conclude they do not exist. Even escalations to a so called customer care manager turn out to be useless. I got one response and had a false glimpse of hope. Nothing happened. I chased it, still nothing happened and it lead to nothing. I escalated it to the CEO (or his PA rather) now as you guys fail me. So spare your generic response please and see what CEO does about it if anything. Never had such a bad experience with a so called customer service ever before.

Motomia

Do you need to lose weight?
If you want to lose weight and needs a lot of exercise buy a Motomia. You will break down a lot and will walk a lot. To make the weight loss faster the Motomia machine will give you some resistance to push around.

If you can't do that at least your weight of your wallet will be lightened as you will fork out a lot on taxis and collection costs never mind loss of income and loss of time.

They cannot fix it properly and the repairs do not last, even after it was in the workshop for excessive periods of time.

Unfortunately they grew too fast and they can't keep up. Now the wheels come off so badly that I have no choice than to go elsewhere - after 6 years.

Absa

Never ever insure with ABSA
I lodged claim weeks ago and they dragged their feet. Never got any result, They gave me 4 different claim numbers for the same claim in the process. Its anybody's guess which one is the right one. I escalated it to senior management without a result. I even escalated it to the CEO without a response. Now it goes to the Ombudsman.

As ABSA is not bad enough as a bank they should stick to banking and not play with insurance business as they are even worse in that segment.

Don't bother to answer most likely with a generic, meaningless and mindless auto responder which is all I got from them. This is just a warning to consumers out there.
