Bought a folding French Pane window (crealco) a few years ago. Hardly use the folding mechanism but the lock mechanism failed after about a year. Asked out installer to have it repaired and he got some parts under warranty. Unfortunately the guy passed on and now these guys refuse to repair it under warranty. The quality of the metal used on the mechanism is so fragile that the backing plate today just broke right through because of the spring loaded lock. Terrible product with worse support.
When a company gives you details for an agent not even there any more or you respond to an agent and the response email is that he is out of office and you have sent in all necessary information but still get a response saying that ‘7 days have passed and the file is now closed’ despite approaching an agent on the social media platform, then something is broken or Absa is going out of its way to not settle claims by ignoring communication. Worst insurance company to deal with… wver. I’d initially even asked them to communicate with my estate agent as I would be away but not even that was understood by the initial agent dealing with the case.
I don’t think at any point was I convinced that there are great Mobile Service companies out there after having dealt with Vodacon, MTN and Telkom (which was actually better than I’d expected). I cannot actually believe how easy they made it to port my number, how fantastic the service has been or how great their package prices are.
Have been dealing with MVIA to resolve a wheel bearing warranty claim and have been asked for a tech report about the failure. For a wheel bearing… which is a covered component. what is there to say about a wheel bearing failing. The car is driving, it’s making a noise… it’s a failing component. I know they’re looking for any reason not to pay and have repeatedly claimed attachments had not come through or that things need to be in a specific format which at no previous point was mentioned. Emails are magically not appearing on their side. Then was told I could get a quote from another branch of Toyota and then after that was told they want a tech report from them as well after they already had one.
Experience has been horrible. Constant back and forth regarding info required. Agents on the phone have different requirements for info provided. Was told info provided was good by one agent and then get an email saying that they require a tech report from the same garage that did the quote after being told that sending a quote from a different Toyota franchise was fine as I had been waiting too long for the quote from the original branch. No one specified formats for info required and then get a email/ call saying they want it specifically in PDF when it’s right on the mail. Haven’t used my car in a week because of the back and forth and lengthy process… this is all before an ‘assessor’ gets involved. For a wheel bearing, which is specifically listed under covered parts. Currently wondering what they’re going to say to refuse the claim.
I used to have a Discovery Credit Card when it was still part of FNB. The transition to Discovery being a stand alone bank has been the biggest failure. i was given a new card when they changed but something went wrong with my profile and I have not been successfully been able to obtain a new credit card since. The short sightedness of the credit application department who can only process applications for people who have permanent employment contracts even though they are even less likely able to afford it or definitely have worse Credit scores than I do is mind boggling. I was asked to provide certain docs but not even documents from the mighty SARS can convince this backward bunch differently. I have moved certain products away from Discovery and will keep doing so out of frustration with their ridiculous processes. Been quite happy with FNB for many years and they actually keep pleasantly surprising me.
My previous experience with Absa insurance has been fine. We have not had to claim for much besides a burst geyser in the last two years. Now, a security gate and door were damaged due to a burglary and the claim was instituted a month ago, the contractor sent the estimate to Absa yet no one has bothered to approve this and it’s a massive security risk. What the h3ll is going on over at Absa insure?
This place is great. I wonder if I should even share how good it is because I’m afraid it might get overrun with customers. First off, the food is amazing. Everything I’ve ever eaten here was brilliant. Then there’s the cosines of the space where it’s great for small gatherings but intimate at the same time so yup, romantic too. In winter I’ve always tried to get a table close to the fireplace :) The wine pairings are excellent and the sommeliers, hostess and waiters have always been friendly (and witty). It’s such a great experience. I’ll be back
Firstly I am pretty suspicious of other posts here giving these guys more than one star. I suspect they’re quite possibly fake reviews as I had My first unfortunate dealing with them in December 2020 when our floors were first laid. After having been told that the surface would be fine around a pool area, it turned out that was a complete lie. The floors when even slightly wet turned into a hazardous surface resulting in more than one injury. After barely two months the surface started chipping away and cracking. After more than a year and change of frontline staff all of whom eventually left, the screeding was recovered with something that looked nothing like what we were promised, was still slippery and has chipped away even worse than the previous surface. Again, another year of communication and (i came across quite a few dissatisfied customers) I am now dealing with someone who is hiding behind a ‘I’m waiting for a go ahead management’ statement when it was management who visited the house and agreed that the product was failing and not what was promised. They have not bothered to respond except for behaving like you would expect from a guilty party under pressure from other dissatisfied customers.
The worst experience I’ve ever had with any service provider or product. The eagerness to take our money should have been a giveaway. It looked great initially but blatantly got lied to about the product being non slippery especially around the pool area. My son fell multiple times and I was seriously injured as well. I have to throw rubber mats down when we use the pool now! The product cracked and peeled within months. After countless delays in taking action to repair the flooring and coat with a non slip finish, it was sanded off and coated with what looks like cheap stoep paint in a finish far from what we had paid for.. Still slippery and of course still cracking and peeling since the original stuff wasn’t properly removed anyway. Don’t waste your time or money.
