I think the negative reviews are a bit unfair. We've had our Ecoflow River for two years and it works very well. It is a very good product. We had to send it back for repairs once and it took a while - three weeks or so - but they did the job. The problem really is with slow delivery and difficulty contacting the company, which I think is based in China.
Five years ago, I was drowning in debt, paying off one credit card with another, and sometimes taking out payday loans to make it to the end of the month. It was a profoundly humiliating experience, because I was a professional making good money and it felt as if I should have known enough about finances to make better choices. I used to wake up in the middle of the night with panic attacks and it seemed as if there wasn't a minute in the day when I was not worrying about money and supporting my family. I finally contacted SDC in desperation, because they seemed to get the best reviews of the debt counselling services that I researched. I should have done it a lot earlier. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, and responded to every single one of my enquiries in record time and in an endearingly personal way. One of the first things they said to me is not to be ashamed, and that there are many other people in the same situation. Just acknowledging my feelings in such a human way already lifted a huge burden off my shoulders. They explained to me exactly what to do, in the simplest possible way, and then they took charge of my finances by arranging remarkably generous payback terms with all my creditors. They kept me up to date every step of the way - honestly, it felt more like talking to an Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor than a financial agency. Eventually they presented me with a surprisingly low sum of money that I would need to pay back every month in a single instalment. It was as if I was a walking dead man who had been brought back to life. Now, five years later, I am a few months away from finally settling all my debt. They contacted me with all the information I need to wrap things up, and they seemed genuinely pleased for me. They are doing all the work that needs to be done for me to get my clearance certificate - getting the final settlement letters from creditors, issuing the clearance form, ensuring that my debt review flag is removed from my name. They have promised to send me a document showing all they money I have saved over the years on instalment and interest, and even to give me some guidance on how I can restore my credit record going forward. I never paid any hidden fees - they were incredibly up-front about exactly what I would be paying, and to whom. My overall sense is that this company takes genuine pleasure in helping people who find themselves in a desperate fix. I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you are drowning in debt, don't hesitate for a second - contact SDC. You'll see, it will change your life.

I am a contract holder with Cell C. I went into the Stellenbosch Mall Cell C shop this morning, 7 June, to upgrade my phone. I was keen on getting a good to-of-the line Samsung to replace my older Samsung S8+. The service was SO TERRIBLE. The saleswoman was completely incompetent and disinterested. She looked as if I was trying to sell her rotten meat. Does Cell C not incentivize its salespeople? Do they not get commission? I was 15 minutes away from signing an expensive 2-year contract with Cell C and then just started laughing at the situation because it was so bizarre. I left and will not be coming back. If Cell C wants my custom, maybe someone competent can contact me? It was really shocking. No wonder this company is not doing so well. It's the small things, people - frontline customer contact.
I approached these folks in a moment of real despair when I was swimming in debt - despite holding down a good professional job, I had ended up working 18-hour days doing freelance work to keep up with all my credit repayments after my partner lost her income. First of all, they treated me with real humanity, understanding and a sense of humour. They explained the process to me in detail, and answered all my questions patiently and kindly. I was immediately provided with a personal cell number I could use to contact my debt counsellor. This was two months ago. Throughout this time, they remained in contact, explained to me exactly what was going on, and answered my questions promptly. I really felt that they were not just in it for the business, but were on my side. They eventually worked out a remarkable agreement with my creditors that basically saved my life - after years of financial worries, I could finally breathe again. I have read so many bad reviews of debt counselling businesses that I felt I really needed to put on record how remarkable the folks at Sandton Debt Counselling have been. Thank you especially to Nadia and Jo - all I can say is that if you are struggling with debt, do not hesitate a second longer. I should have picked up the phone and talked to these guys years ago. Best of all, they have consistently treated me with dignity and understanding, and not like some financial delinquent.

My Ford Ka experienced a major breakdown on the N2 and the closest AA accredited garage was Milnerton Autoworks: 60 kms away from my home in Stellenbosch. I had no idea what to expect. The same day, I received a call and an email from Million Dudzai outlining the exact process and initial costs. She kept me up to date throughout the entire process, with exact and transparent quotations. They finished the job - rebuilding the engine - in less time than they said initially, and at a competitive price. Million was fantastic: responsive, friendly, up-front - exactly what one needs in a situation like this. If they were closer to home, I would immediately take all my business to them. Thank you!

On 1 September 2015, I reported a case of identity fraud to Vodacom: someone had opened a false account in my name. I supplied Vodacom with all the information and documents they requested, and asked for the paperwork submitted to open the account. Now I discovered that Vodacom never removed this account from my credit record - which until now has been unblemished. They also never supplied me with the documents I asked for - I can only guess because they never did a proper identity check. In fact, they never contacted me about this account at all, despite having all my correct contact information. I am so angry. The reference I was given at the time was S3-8GP3O-OBIAF, and the false account number is ********** 885I ********** .

Someone fraudulently opened a bunch of accounts in my name with various suppliers, including with Truworths. With every other company, it was a nightmare to close the accounts. However, Lisa at your call centre was very professional and clear about the procedure I needed to follow. I asked that the debt collecting agency should stop harassing me with calls and smses, and they stopped immediately. I have, however, not received further feedback from your fraud department: I do hope you will follow up with me when you have more information. In particular, if possible, I would like to know which of my details the fraudster had access to - and see a copy of the ID document that he used, since I have never lost mine. At the very least, I would appreciate confirmation that the matter is being attended to. Thank you, in any case, for dealing with this in a friendly and professional manner so far. You stand head and shoulders above your competitors when it comes to customer care.
Three months ago, an MTN debit order for R7720 went off my account - despite the fact that I have no contract with MTN. I was, in other words, a victim of identity theft. After three hours on the phone I found someone who gave me an e-mail address and told me to send a copy of my ID and a police affidavit. I duly did. The next month, my account was debited for R7709. Another two hours on the phone trying to get hold of a human being in the right department. This turned out to be a friendly person called Simphiwe Mazibuko, who looked it up and explained that it's odd because the numbers associated with the account had been terminated. Again, I was asked for a police affidavit and a copy of my ID. I sent these to her personal email address. This month, to my astonishment, another R7730 had been deducted. MTN had still not terminated the stop order. I have asked MTN to send me the documentation the person used who opened the fraudulent account. Nothing. I am starting to understand why MTN was fined in Nigeria and under investigation by the JSE. This is like some kind of nightmare. I will now enlist an attorney and advise anyone in this situation to do the same. MTN won't help you.
