We received very bad customer service from Sales Hire Stellenbosch. Especially form the debtors clerk, Elaine Steyn. She refuses to apologise for her very rude statements against me and has gone so far as to send us a very sarcastic comment. We have been a loyal client of Sales hire for many years but due to her horrible way of treating us we will not be using them ever again. They have lost us as a loyal client forever.

On Monday (18/10/2021) I hired a cement mixer and 2 wheelbarrows at Sales Hire, Bellville branch, the cement mixer was loaded by 2 of their staff members and one of my colleagues. The cement mixer was pushed with excessive force and rammed into the rear window of my bakkie resulting in a shattered window. I queried about who’s going to cover the cost of repair and the sales hire staff blamed my colleague (to avoid accountabilty) and then highlighted to me signage indicating "load at own risk" . This evasive attempt to not cover repair costs, is not the end of my frustration. This morning (19/10/2021) on return of the hired cement mixer my colleagues chose not to help them offload as they don’t want to be blamed for any potential damages given this companies questionable practices. A younger guy working at the branch insisted that it’s not their duty to offload with an attitude, basically raising his voice at me quiet rudely so, I said he should take it up with his manager and if the manager indicates to us that we should offload it then we will. Then to my utter disgust another elderly guy comes walking out and says to me “jy moetie jou honde betaali” (referring to my colleagues) and then assists his colleague offload the machine and in undertone mumbling things when doing so and then verbaly abused my colleagues further by calling out aloud at them “lui naaiers”. I requested his name and he said that it’s “aapie”. I then went to the store manager, Jamie, to report the incident who went out and called the guy aside telling me he will handle it. All the manager said is the guys we’re excited due to them having a meeting after yesterday’s incident about the broken window and that he spoke to his staff member after today’s incident. Yet the guy that went to call my guys honde and refer to us at lui naaiers was not involved in the incident the day before which still isnt justification for such abrupt behaviour. Dissatisfied with the outcome I then went on to make contact with the area manager (Mr Dion Graham) to escalate the matter. He had no idea of what happened as the store manager Jamie has not reported the incident. He went on to investigate and the elderly guy admitted to referring to my guys as honde and calling them lui naaiers. I was advised that the matter was reported to hr and they will look into the matter. Sales Hire may be good at hiring out tools but hiring of staff.

Terrible service in this branch in cape town cbd. Hired a 150mm orbital sander which I have used many times before and when I started sanding it was fine for 2 mins, then whenever I put any pressure on it it stopped. Tried it several times but didnt work so my guy took it back as they wouldn't collect it, they turned it on an said it works so no refund but didn't try sand anything with it. I phoned them and told them as soon as someone else hires it they will jahve same problem, still refused to refund even though it didnt work and didnt use it. Said someone would call me but as usual with companies like this no one called me back. Not worth persuing over R150 but why lose a regular customer over that when coastal hire os over the road.

Our company called Sales Hire on 18/02/16 to arrange for a 6m ladder to be delivered and collected to our client's home. This was originally arranged through a staff member named Nicole who firstly gave the incorrect info regarding booking procedure.

I then spoke to Denzil who gave me the correct info. He said he would be at the shop today to sort my guys out. My staff arrived to find the shop empty and no one to assist them. Several persons were called to try to assist as Denzil was out and had left no instructions, no one was able to assist. When he was called he denied knowledge about the arrangement and our company. I then spoke to the owner Alistar. He also did not know what the arrangements were and told me he would first need to listen to his telephone recordings before he was willing to apologize and would not take my word as a dissatisfied client. His rude and abrasive behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. Saying my dissatisfaction at his business's bad service was \my opinion\". Expected arrival time given by Alistar 15-20 min, ladder arrived in 45 min as no vehicle was available to assist sooner. Owner refuses to take responsibility or apologize. PUBLIC BEWARE!"
