My experience with SMG Umlanga has been extremely frustrating and disappointing from the start. The vehicle purchase process took far longer than it should have, requiring almost daily follow-ups on my part due to poor communication from the salesman. When I collected the vehicle: 1. I did not receive the gift that normally comes with a car purchase. 2. I did not receive the spare keys and still have not received the spare keys, despite being repeatedly told over the past two months that they would be sent “overnight.” 3. There were issues with the tires and windscreen, which eventually got resolved, but only after I proactively took the car to another BMW dealership (Constantia), which provided excellent service in comparison to Umhlanga. The original dealership never took my concerns seriously and the salesman frequently claimed he was “unavailable” when I tried to contact him. Almost like I was not paying for the car. On top of that, there have been major delays with the number plates and registration documentation. I have been driving the car without number plates for almost two months, constantly following up as temporary documentation kept expiring, which made parking at my workplace impossible and caused significant stress. I ultimately had to escalate everything to head office in Johannesburg to get any resolution — something that should never have been necessary. This level of service is unacceptable for a premium brand dealership. It shows poor communication, lack of accountability, and disregard for customers. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone and will certainly never ever purchase a vehicle from them again.

I purchased a Chery from SMG BMW and my experience with them has been atrocious. The after sales service is terrible. Issues with the vehicle are ignored, To a point that I am forced to get my own testing done at my own cost just to prove to BMW that there are issues with the vehicle. As SMG BMW specializes in BMW, it might not be a good idea to purchase another brand from them as i don't feel they give their other brand of vehicles the same type of attention. On road fees are charged but vehicle purchased on the 31/10/2025 and to date no license disk and plates given to me. Sales person and Dealership Principal emailed but no response as yet from the Dealer Principal. As a new Customer my Business does not feel valued and my concerns not taken serious at SMG. I purchased from them for peace of mind however that is not what i currently have. Also advertised mileage is not the same as reality, mileage advertised at 9800 but actual mileage was closer to 10 800. My advise to anyone is do your thorough checks yourself before taking ownership, insist on seeing all of the reports yourself, take a test drive if permissible and get a proper feel for the vehicle yourself and don't depend on anyone's word. Ask the necessary questions and ensure that you get your proper answers before making anything permanent. thoroughly inspect your vehicle before taking ownership because once you drive the vehicle out their shop then you are on your own.

Disappointed with the attitude of used car sales manager (Aseed) and sales person (Zelia). 1. They do not know anything about service or professional approach. Amateurs. Tried buying a vehicle advertised on the car sales platforms, was available, then it wasn’t as it was sold, then it wasn’t sold then was sold. I had finance approved and asked for an invoice, they sent an offer to purchase as they couldn’t produce an invoice as it was sold! No one knows what’s actually the state of their stock, poor management that makes promises they do not keep. Even now it is still advertised on Auto Trader and others..

Terrible service at BMW uMhlanga. When it was time for the sale everything seemed okay and staff rushed to push the sale. However after sales service is a nightmare. Sales staff that assisted had ghosted me and didn’t sort out everything that was requested on my vehicle. I’ve purchased my vehicle in April and it’s now almost June and everything still isn’t sorted out. The car was with them for more time than it was with me. The manager was also useless and unhelpful, he sided with his staff and started screaming at us when we called in for assistance. DON’T SUPPORT BMW uMhlanga, you’d think that you would receive excellent service but you don’t, they push for sales and then don’t provide any after sales support.

Percy Dlamini His Highness in customer service from the moment he sent me an offer to purchase I knew my deal on my 2022 FIAT TIPO CITY LIFE 5DR would go well, as we proceeded with the deal all that I could pick was high levels of transparency on my deal. The day came for me to catch a bus from East London to Durban to Umhlanga to collect my FIAT TIPO, when I got to their dealership it was an experience I still talk about to my colleagues till today from the 24th of April 2024. When I met Percy the respect I received was a cherry on top as he again explained every aspect of my deal even after sales he kept to the promise that the money I will spend on my license disc and license plates will be refunded and so that was done. There's a lot I can tell about this gentleman Percy. Satish His Excellency in customer service this gentleman explained each and every aspect on the finance of my FIAT TIPO what came out of his mouth was not only a word of mouth but he showed me documentation (PODIUMS) on how he negotiated my finance deal with the banks what a gentlemen he is, and when we had a conversation over the telephone he was an absolute gentleman full of respect. Not only did I notice high levels of professionalism with these two gentlemen but also the rest of the staff as one gentlemen who also worked for SMG BMW Umhlanga saw me parked by the side of the road while I was trying to navigate my way out of Umhlanga to East London, he stopped his vehicle and stepped out to ask me "am I ok".... With SMG BMW UMHLANGA I got "THE BEST DEAL EVER" after trying numerous deals with other dealerships around the country, thanks! With Best Regards Please visit Percy Dlamini SMG Umhlanga.

Good day I trust this email finds you well. On 2022/11/29 I bought a car from SMG BMW Umhlanga, used Audi A4. When I have asked the salesman about the service book, he informed it’s digital and it was advertised as full service history. Around May/ June I took the car in to Audi to fix the problem I had with my steering wheel. When I took the car to Audi century city they informed me the car has a missing service history, 15000,30000,45000km. I informed the salesman I bought the car from and he said he will investigate why the car doesn’t have service history. I then contacted the manager of used car and dealer principal, they offered to buy the car back, less than outstanding amount and not settle the full outstanding balance amount. I then refused and informed them that they must provide me with the full service history or take the car back as it’s not my fault they sold a car with no service history. I informed them I’m not returning the car back because I simple doing a trade in or not in need of the car but because it was advertised as full service history and the price I paid was for the car with full service history. I will accept full service history or them taking the car back with full settlement regardless of how long or much I have driven the car. I would really appreciate it if you would intervene in this situation. If I knew or advertised correctly as no full service history then I wouldn’t have taken the car.

If i could put 0 stars i would. We took our bmw there for a service, where we paid alot of money for this service, yes they sounded great and that they knew what they were doing etc, My car has never had 1 issue before Bmw Umhlanga touched it for its service. We explained that we are taking our car to Johannesburg and we need it to be serviced, inspected you name it to make sure all was safe. We never drove the car after it was serviced, we only went to put petrol in, we are half way to Johannesburg where the car started pinging saying it needs water, to our disbelief the car was mixing oil and water, we called BMW umhlanga and they basically said ***** you we don't care, not one person including Shalona who was so nice to us when we paid our money bothered. They left us on the side of the road, us calling for assistance and they tell me they cannot help me and put the phone down, we had to tow this car to Bethlehem to pay another R14k to get the mess bmw umhlanga caused. I am disgusted in your service, do not waste your money there, they are all scam artists.
