Solar Beam Technologies does not honour their warranty and use false advertising. We have a 300litre solar geyser installed in 2016. It came with a 10 year warranty. This was the only reason why we paid Solar Beam the exuberant cost. And because they advertise that they have been in the business since 1978. The geyser rusted through and was replaced in 2017. Now with 4 months left on our warranty, the same thing happened, but they refuse to replace the geyser It seems they have new owners and their office and contact person is one lady in Durban. She firstly tried to imply that the geyser was installed in 2010, therefore out of warranty. Then she disputed the 10 year warranty on the contract. I had to point out the three signatures on the contract next to it. Then she did not know who Dennis Boshoff was who we signed the contract with. She then offered to fix the existing geyser as they do not use the same ***** anymore . I asked her to put it in writing in an email. She has since, responded that she is just visiting the hospital and would do it later, then she was on a skype meeting with her boss and would get back to me. I have asked for someone else to contact, with no response. It has been 3 weeks since their last communication. Please do not fall for their long standing legacy or10 year warranty.

We bought a 200L solar geyser in March 2021 which came with a 10 year guarantee, which is why we were willing to pay their very high price. It burst in August 2025. It worked pretty well until then, although we did have to replace the element twice. It has been almost two months with nothing done to honor the guarantee (we are using heated buckets for bathing at the moment). Every time I call, there is a new story about how they are about to do something, but nothing ever actually happens. They claimed that their people would be installing a new geyser in the area this past Monday and would come to take mine for repair after that, but they never came or contacted me in any way. The fact that they no longer have working email, that they no longer have a Jhb office, and that they seem to have only one employee in Durban that handles every call even when she is out of the office indicates that they are going out of business soon. I really don't think anyone should buy from them. If you do, do not rely on their guarantees or you may be waiting forever for them to honor what they promise.

I had an indirect solar system installed by Solarbeam a few years ago. To date it had never worked properly. I have not had the benefit of saving electricity since the solar water system was installed. First the tank was leaking because they used the wrong pipe quickly when they manufactured it. Water was pouring out of the solar panel. (in a indirect system water doesn't go into the panel at all. I called and they were unable to attend to my repair immediately. I had to call out a plumber at my own cost to isolate the solar panel so that I could have water in my home. Solarbeam came 3 weeks later and replaced the geyser and panel. But the system was still not working efficiently. The technician eventually came to look at the system and had to refill the antifreeze, the system appears to be leaking the antifreeze. I once again called Solarbeam and they agreed to replace the solar panel. This was in August 2024. They have been giving me the run around ever since. I even went as far as contacting the head office in Johannesburg. The manager at head office agreed to get back to me and still nothing. He doesn't even take my calls and does not respond to my messages. I now rely on electricity to heat my water. The R30 odd K has just been wasted expenses for me.

I had a great experience dealing with the new team in JHB. Ordered a 5KVA PV system and 300l Solar Water Heater. Installation and communication went smoothly. Special thanks to BK and the service agents!

Dreadful service. We were offered a 10 year warranty on our 300l Solar Geyser, which we bought and had installed from them 5 years ago. After over 6 months of fighting with them to replace the geyser, we eventually gave up, shocking and, I'm sure, in a court of law, if I had the money and energy, they would have been sued and forced to honour their warranty. They never phoned back, they kept telling us they would come "next week" and on and on.... don't touch them if you think you'll buy there because of the 'warranty", they have no intention of honouring it !

My dealings with Solar Beam Solar Geysers have been an example of good service . I had a 300 l litre unit installed , which started leaking shortly after covid lockdown started in South Africa . They arranged for a temporary unit to be placed until a new 300 litre tank could be installed . This has been completed in the last week . Thank you to SHEREEN for your service. I recommend solar beam geysers.

I contracted Solar Beam to install a Solar electricity system for me which was done in July 2019. On 7 February 2020 I contacted Solar Beam by e-mail and advised them that when we put the kettle on the loadshedding system was beeping and it thereafter shut down (only 5 house indoor lights (6w each) and the TV was on). On Thursday, when we had loadshedding the system shut down when we put the kettle on – hereagain only 5 house lights and the TV was on. Again on 7 February 2020 when we had loadshedding in the morning (after sunrise) the system shut down when we put the kettle on – no house lights or other appliances were on since it was bright enough. I spoke to some electricians who said there could be a problem with the batteries and these should be checked/tested. As the solar system was only installed in July 2019 everything was still under warranty. Solar Beam has subcontracted the installation to another company. (This company advised me that I should not use a kettle and microwave at the same time i.e. don’t have these appliance on at the same time. I ensured that if we used the kettle, the microwave was not used and vice versa.) The situation got worse subsequent to my initial email to Solar Beam on 7 February 2020. After speaking with electricians I was advised that Lithium batteries or 200AH batteries should have been installed. Solar Beam designed the system and did not advise me that 200AH batteries should have been put. On 12 March 2020 I agreed with Solar Beam that the 200AH batteries should be installed so that this problem does not recur and further agreed with Solar Beam that I will pay for the difference in the price of the 100AH and 200AH battery. On 12 March 2020 I received an email from Solar Beam and was told that the batteries will be changed as soon as the company that Solar Beam subcontracted the installation to, gets stock. When I followed up with Solar Beam on 19 March 2020 I got no response. On 24 March 2020 I confirmed with the subcontractors that they had stock of the batteries and requested Solar Beam to have the installation done. On 25 March 2020 I was told that the finance person needed to approve the payment to the subcontractors and then the batteries will be replaced. This did not happen. On 7 April 2020 the inverter shutdown and I had no electricity causing some of my food to get spoilt. I did e-mail Solar Beam but since it was lockdown they were closed. Once lockdown had ended I followed up on 6 May 2020 and was told that Solar Beam was “waiting for head office” – Solar Beam only has it office in Durban, the office with which I’ve been in contact with! So this was clearly a lie. I continually followed up with Solar Beam and at the end of May 2020 was told that a technician will be coming out to check the inverter and the batteries and provide a report to Solar Beam. Thereafter upon my follow ups, Solar Beam is not taking responsibility for anything and seems like it is blaming the subcontractors. Clearly Solar Beam lied to me, especially in the e-mail date 12 March 2020 where Solar Beam told me the batteries will be changed once the subcontractor gets stock (the contractor had stock in the last week in March 2020). It’s clear that Solar Beam lies to customer and does not value customers and does not care. People should know what Solar Beam does to customers.
