Roger installs these fans with his son as a sideline - he works for Solent. He passes himself off as an expert installer with years of experience. He gave us terrible advice when we wanted a wall mounted switch rather than a remote - he said it was impossible without sticking lengths of trunking on walls and ceilings. He then did a terrible job installing this dog’s breakfast all over our apartment. He sent another electrician to fix it - who pulled cables and connected the fans without any trunking. But ripped up our paint and plaster when taking off Roger’s trunking. We now have to replaster and repaint the whole house thanks to Roger the “expert”. And the new electrician did the job perfectly and neatly in half the time! Very bad experience with ***** Roger.

I am absolutely flabbergasted by the lack of service from this company. We bought several fans from the company via a third party. One of them shorted out , for what seemed no apparent reason, and stopped working. The third party contacted Solent as their warranty is supposed to cover this. Well we were met with the most impolite service person I have met so far in South Africa . His first action was to blame us for not installing it properly, when in fact it was done when our house was built by a qualified electrician (otherwise we would not have gotten a clearance certificate). Then a whole discussion started on how to get this thing fixed , resulting in us running around town to ask for quotes, none of which 'Mr. Rodger' from Solent liked. In the end he called the repairs services in our town himself and then finally he was satisfied. This has now been going on for over 5 weeks, while it could have been solved weeks ago. We could have sent it back to Solent for repair, or , like good companies do, they could have sent us a replacement and ask us to send the faulty one back. Another example of 'once we have your money we don't care anymore' . Yikes

I bought 3 ceiling fans from Solent, which is based in Durban, in 2016. Recently one of the infrared remote controls stopped working. I sent an online service request on Friday 10 Dec after close of business. At 7:45am on Mon morning Rodger from their client service contacted me to get details of the exact remote being used and on Fri 17 Dec the replacement part was delivered to my home in Cape Town free of charge. Amazing service not often seen in SA these day. Well done Solent!

I recently purchased a Solent Ceiling Fan which was installed incorrectly and which resulted in the fan being very noisy. I contacted Roger from Solent Ceiling Fans Support Team in KZN who gave me five-star service. He immediately couriered a new motor for the fan from their factory in KZN to me in Pretoria, Roger stayed in touch with me until my electrician had fitted the new motor and thereafter arranged for the courier service to lift the faulty motor and return it to KZN. I compliment Roger and the Solent team on excellent customer service. The new fan is running silently now.
