Great quality of cuts, we also tried ostrich for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! The sweetish sauce (usually not a fan) just finished it off perfectly

Meat was good Gin variety as bad as you can get Men’s bathrooms have both taps without the flange that open the taps Side salad should be called a pathetic toss up of a few green leaves and some tomatoes Sauces were VERY small in quantity So good for meat, but they obviously don’t pay attention to detail in many aspects

We booked for lunch at 13:00 as it was it is my son's 30th birthday. We were five adults and a12 year old. Bill was R2,945.34 Visited this restaurant many times in the past (the reason we chose it). This time around the experience was terrible. One thing to remember is to triple confirm the order and the price of whatever you order with the waiter. The mineral water bottles kept coming, without asking each time. The wine list with prices never came, yes I did ask for it, and I was only shown one bottle, that's it. My son was given a R720.00 steak, thinking he ordered a R350.00 steak, as per the menu! No confirmation of the price upfront whatsoever. The gratuity is auto included, you have no way of challenging the service as result, you pay up irrespective. When I complained about the steak order, waiter just shrugged playing stupid. Manager not open to discussion and pinned the R720.00 on "miscommunication". The name of the game in The Butcher Shop & Grill is: the buyer beware, yes, that will be you, hence my hard-earned advice to you: triple check every order and the price of all items with the waiter. Demand to see all prices. Do not think you can relax on that score. Have a thick skin just as the waiters in that establishment are known for having.

I decided to drive all the way to The Butcher Shop & Grill, Mouille Point, Cape Town on the 26th November 2020 for dinner. Ordered wine, the wine arrived, I asked the waiter for ice, no ice arrived. I then requested ice from another waiter still no ice arrived. My order came, which was a medium to well steak with baked potato. The steak wasn’t medium to well, it’s was ****** and extremely red. I did not mention it at all to the manager who did his rounds asking customers are they enjoying their meal. I nodded my head. But disappointed at the meal to be honest. After dinner I requested the bill, I felt the need not to add a tip, because of my experience. The waiter arrived with the card machine, I took my card out my wallet and handed it to him, he proceeded to tap the machine with my card and threw my card down on the table. I’m assuming he did this because I did not tip. I explained to him that I gave him my card whilst he threw it onto the table. He responded ‘he didn’t know he through it’. As I proceeded to leave he ****led something to his colleague in their language, something along the lines of ‘this idiot didn’t tip me’. I wanted to intervene but decided not to, as it will get me nowhere. I will never, ever go back there again!
