Horrible service I walked into the reastaurant and a lady said I can choose any table I like I did just that and I was ignored for over 20mins with no service. I ended up leaving and they were not even phased by that they just watched me.

I have often used this restaurant, particularly for breakfast with my partner. I have found the service to be excellent. Ronel is worthy of a mention. So friendly, cheerful and my goodness fast. The prices are very good and food quality and quantity is also very good. Ownership has changed recently I understand so hope all staff will remain and the menu and prices also. Beautiful location on Fishhoek beach. Looking forward to more visits over our summer. Fully recommend to all.

Today my wife and I ordered a burger and chips and a chicken cheese crumbed burger and chips. See attached, the till slip. The burger patty was far from fresh and the chicken was tired and far from fresh. Were asked for sauce and were told tomato sauce or peri peri sauce was all that was available. The net result was dreadful. My conclusion was negative to say the least. My wife begged me not to complain while I was there. You should be ashamed of your restaurant. Your food is abominable

It's such a prime location and long overdue for a major facelift. The food is at best mediocre. The service is generally poor and waitresses often surly and unengaged.

Yesterday evening my husband and I were bitterly disappointed by the service that we received at The Galley on Fish Hoek beach. In such beautiful surrounds, visited, no doubt, by many tourists, both local and international, this restaurant is a dismal flop. No indication that it was Valentine's Day at all. After waiting over 10 minutes, I had to walk inside to fetch the menu. No attention from waitrons at all - they appear to walk around with blinkers on. The best thing about the meal was the choccocino and cappuccino, which were creamy and comforting. Otherwise, the food was a pathetic show. My husband's spaghetti bolognaise tasted rubbery and old. My calamari was minimal and their savoury rice was a joke, with little pieces of something in that you couldn't even taste - a quarter of the size of the usual diced veggies that you'd normally get elsewhere. What appeared to be a cheese sauce left over from another diner came with the dish, instead of the usual sauce tartare. Cutlery brought several minutes after the food, so that it was partly cold by the time that one could start eating. Utensils given to us brought from another table, with an empty chocolate wrapper that the waitron did not even bother to remove before plonking it on our table. Aggressive attitude from floor manager when we complained. She insisted that everything was freshly made and stood over me as though she were an enraged lioness whose cubs were in danger. The drinks sre fine, but the food is highly questionable - didn't know which stank more, the food or the attitude. Restaurant a convenient pickup joint for single women and elderly gents in the evening - need I say more?

Let me start by saying that my first great experience was when I had my wedding reception here in December last year. I can safely say that all 80 of us were very happy and veeeryy well fed! Priscilla headed up the event for me and my husband, and it truly was a blessed day! Priscilla really exuberated an energy of gold! My next encounter didn't start off so great. On Sunday, my husband and I went to the Galley Cafe for a bite. I saw the owner, Mrs Eichel, running around with all hands on deck (like a true leader), with 1 other staff member taking orders up front, and a few more working tirelessly at the back. We ordered the calamari but when our order came it was hake. We weren't upset, we just made it clear we ordered calamari. Unfortunately, the woman taking orders decided to accuse us of lying quite a number of times, which was her first mistake. Not only that, but she did it loudly and blatantly in front of all the other customers in the queue. It was highly embarrassing and humiliating for me and my husband because we were clear about our order and truly didn't appreciate the woman's sheer unprofessionalism. At that moment, I really had a sour taste in my mouth and didn't feel like ever returning to The Galley, even though 6 months before that I was celebrating the happiest day of my life. Thankfully, the sour taste quickly left when Mrs Eichel came around to rectify the matter in a very genuine and compassionate manner. She treated us with respect and kindness, and quickly got our original order ready for us. While waiting, I watched how she interacted with her staff and the other customers (while short-staffed and literally running around) and I was truly inspired. It's clear she has a pure heart, and because of her, I will happily return! :)

Waiter service is very good, kitchen service is slow. We have been going there for many years, and the food quality has been going steadily down. We went there 3 times in one week recently, and here is what happened. The first time for drinks, cold beers and wine, good service. The next time was for a snack, we waited too long for food and were disappointed with the quality. We had crab cakes with wasabi. The crab cakes had no fish taste and the wasabi was actually mayo with green colouring. We told the waiter who got the manager to the table. He said no body has ever complained, but he will alert the chef. I told him to inform the owner who was there to fix it. I was very surprised that the very next day we saw the same green mayo being passed off as wasabi. What a shame, the view is great but sadly as there are now two 5 star places 30 meters away , the Galley will soon go BANG !! Oh, last thought , the prices are now too expensive for the quality. Will NEVER eat there again, we told them too, only go there for drinks.
