This review is an update about Zimbali Elevated Forest Villa Accomodation, in KZN which I booked through Where To Stay. https://wheretostay.co.za/elevatedforestvilla I put my previous review here early February 2024. My visit was in October/November 2023. Where To Stay has not reached out to me. I believe they probably reached out to Patrick Armstrong, the owner of the property because on the 26th February he called me. He said he was very sorry for my bad experience and that he regrets never reaching out to me again knowing full well the issues I had. I have a collection of over thirty pictures of the accomodation showing not only the state of the kitchen, stove, cupboards and appliances which I did send to him but the infestation of insects (****roaches and spiders mainly) which have nothing to do with the property being in a forested area, since after we asked the cleaner to spray, all bugs found in the following week we're in the throes of death. Not live ones. Patrick called and asked me if a partial refund gesture would be acceptable in lieu of apology, since the accomodation costs were not cheap and in such bad shape. I said that partial refund would be acceptable. He said he would get back to me once he had a chance to check totals. I haven't heard from him since. I sent him a message asking if he needs my banking details. He ignored it. HE offered partial refund to make up for what we went through, it's actually pretty disgusting that he's once again ignoring me. I believe in Karma. Mr Armstrong will have his day. Because I was the one who had to answer to my family because of the state of his property. I hope anyone who decides to give his property a try will do their due diligence and check this review here, since Where To Stay did not publish mine on their page. About a Zimbali accommodation in KZN called Elevated Forest Villa: https://www.wheretostay.co.za/elevated-forest-villa-self-catering-accommodation-zimbali-north-coast I rented an 8 sleeper house for myself and my family back in October 2023. The pictures do not reflect reality. The accomodation was dirty and in such bad shape that I took pictures to send to the owner. There was even blood in one of the light switches. The cleaner spent her time watching videos and workers from the grounds sat in the kitchen watching videos and speaking loudly. All the tumble driers were so full of lint so as to present a serious fire Hazzard. If I were to state all the issues, this review would be very long. Some of the doors didn't lock, others didn't open. The smell of mold was so overwhelming when we arrived and the place was so dusty my grandchildren got mite rashes. One air conditioner didn't work. The kitchen utensils had to be completed rewashed because it had dried food in them. The kitchen was grubby with food and fat splatter. The owner gave me loads of excuses instead of offering to make it right. We had to make the best of it as we travelled far and some family was from overseas. I then posted a review online on Where To Stay. They took the review off, then contacted me. I told them exactly what happened and I told them I sent all the pictures to Patrick, the owner of the property. Where To Stay said they'd check with him and contact me back. It's now February 2023 and I'm still waiting. They never allowed my review to be published. Looking back and in other places where this property is listed, I'm not the only who complained about the sorry state of the house. And it seems nothing is ever done. Can't trust Where To Stay.

I have booked a holiday through where to stay at 28 Ocean Breeze for 10 days. 16-26 December 2022 in winkelspruit. It was the worst holiday in my life. On arrival to the unit, the first stop is the toilet. There was no toilet paper provided & no towels? I've never seen any holiday accommodation do that. It was so stuffy & hot inside. No air-conditioning & mind you, it was 37'C, so we decided to go sit on the balcony where the ocean view was ... worst mistake, the sewerage was running right next to the flat, and the smells were unbearably. We were so disappointed in the dream holiday that was sold on the website... it was more like a holiday from hell. So that first night we couldn't sleep at all, it was too hot. My husband was sweating so much, and the mosquitoes were feasting on us. My husband was so angry and asked me to msg the owner . I told her about all the unbearably heat in her flat and if the cleaners can please come change the bedding the next morning because it's wet with sweating the whole night. Her response was that it's unfortunate, but the bedding is only going to be changed when we leave! Oh my God, I couldn't believe her response. We paid for cleaning services, and then she said the cleaners only mops and cleans the bathroom, not the kitchen. No dishes, we must do it ? No dishcloths or soap to do the dishes are provided. At this point, i just wanted to leave. After paying 13k, this is what we get. I then asked her to please try finding someone else because we can't stay in the unbearably conditions. We are very unhappy with her flat. She said she would try and if she found a new booking she would refund us. So we stayed the weekend then Monday ask if she has any good news for us ... ! She said there was an inquiry for the 20th - 26th, but she is still waiting for them to come back. We were so happy but then the people didn't come back. We then stayed against our will at this terrible place for the rest of the week. On Wednesday, she texted me saying that she got a booking for the weekend of Christmas, so she will refund us for the remaining 3 days. Her text = "Hi Tracey, my guests are leaving on Fri. My nephew who lives in Toti has friends staying with him, and apparently, his flat is totally overcrowded, so he's trying to talk them into moving into my place on Fri. So you can go ahead and book them. Francoise (2 adults 2 small children) arriving 23rd departing 26th Dec. Thanks." I'll do your refund once the cleaner has been in to check that all in order on Friday." We called our family saying we will be back for Christmas and that we can't wait to leave this holiday from hell. Friday, we booked out at 7:30. Text her, "Good morning, we just checked out. Thanks for everything. God bless" then hell broke loos !! I've never ever heard of the owner of holiday rentals talking to their guests like this. " Please pick a personality and stick to her instead of bringing her out only when you think doing so will benefit you. Unfortunately for you, l wasn't born yesterday, so you're wasting her on me now. You obviously have no consideration for anyone else's feelings or 'circumstances', if you had, there might have been an entirely different outcome to this whole holiday/guest from hell. Ever since your middle of the night whatsapp on your first night, my stomach has been in knots and l've spent every spare moment sunce then trying to make YOUR life easier by getting someone to take your place so I'd be ABLE to afford to refund your money however that wasn't to be. I only hope you packed up all your negative energy and took it with you so my next (repeat) guests don't pay the price for your disrespectful, demanding, inconsiderate attitude. You may or may not know that my flat is on the market because l can no longer afford the exorbitant levies and up until now all l felt was sadness at the thought of having to say goodbye to it. However, after this past week, all l feel is relief at not ever having to share it with someone like you again. So thank you for that. You will get your refund as stipulated in my quote. In the meantime, l suggest you read up on the early departure policy." Then I responded, saying," Carol, I don't want to fight about my full refund. It's Christmas, and I told you from day 1 that we are not happy with the conditions we were staying in. But we still stayed again our will and waited on you finding a replacement. which you told me you have. We didn't just leave. You told us that you have a new booking and will refund us for the 3 days. I have all the communication between the two of us. So please just stop this before it gets ugly. She replied, " Ah, look, who's back!! You will receive your R500 refundable deposit and R180 for the 3 days complex levy. The end. NEVER BOOK NO 28 OCEAN BREEZE IN WINKELSPRUIT EVER WORST OWNER AND FLAT TO RENT IN THE HOLE WORLD!

Only sharing my experience here because the agent at wheretostay hasn't published my review, promising to get in touch once the owner had a chance to respond. That was on 15 September. Why have a Review function on your website if you're not going to publish what guests say? Here's the full text of my review on accommodation at African Sunrise Beach to which the owner of the property (Lee) has not responded. Review Title : Disappointing stay Review : African Sunrise Beach House is a disappointment on first impression, and continues to disappoint on entry. There's a permanent resident on the property which is not disclosed on the website or during the booking process. Although the person was polite and helpful, we would have preferred to have the property to ourselves, as expected, particularly when sun tanning by the pool. Entry to the house is via a sliding door in the TV room, protected by a rusted Trellidor, which is difficult to open. The other sliding door and rusted Trellidor on the patio is secured by lock and chain and cannot be opened at all. This somewhat defeats the object of staying in an open plan house with a sea view. Trellidor protection also adorns the windows of the main lounge and the main bedroom. We requested keys to open them so we could enjoy the sea view, one of the reasons for making the booking at African Sunrise Beach House and none were available. The Trellidor in the main bedroom is also rusted and unsightly. The house shows clear signs of lack of maintenance. Cupboards in the kitchen and main bathroom are warped and don't close properly. There are cracked tiles in the passage and living areas and holes in the carpets, which are stained. Whilst the lawn was cut, there were ****s in the garden beds, including the one next to the pool, which detracted from the sea view we were looking forward to. Lack of maintenance manifested itself with a blocked drain in the main bathroom which flooded as a result. Lee responded promptly when we alerted her to the problem but we were subjected to workmen in the house for a few hours on our first full day there, with an unpleasant odour from the unblocking process, which lingered for the remainder of our stay. Black mould, or maybe just dirt, is evident in the corners of the showers. We were unable to find any record of registration with South Coast Tourism, mentioned on the website. A framed certificate in the TV lounge is dated 2018. On the positive side, the house is in a good location, close to a beautiful beach and a nearby shopping centre. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen is well equipped and all appliances in working order. There were portable lights and candles available to use during loadshedding. The best feature is the sparkling swimming pool. If you're not put off by a sea view obscured by bars and ****s, broken and missing tiles, holes in carpets, warped, smelly cupboards, and you don’t mind hanging up your washing in a courtyard filled with dry leaves then there's a good chance you'll enjoy your stay.

We booked 5 bedroom house at Zimbali coastal resort with where to stay agent Jessica Slevin for 23-27 September 2021. On arrival on the 23rd we discovered that the house was double booked. We call the agent Jessica she said there was nothing she could do for us because the other group booked 1st so they will occupy the house. The only option she offered was to give our money back. We drove all the way from Limpopo only to find out on arrival that we don’t have a place to stay. She sends us other houses that she thought were not booked and they were way more than what we paid. We asked if she could pay the difference, she said the money has to come from our own pockets. We spend the whole 2 days looking for accommodation because all houses next to the beach were fully booked. We finally found accommodation very far from the beach and we spent most of the time on the road. We didn’t even enjoy our vacation. I will never recommend booking with WhereToStay especially with JESSICA SLEVIN. We were very disappointed
