We were scheduled to camp at Berg River Resort Paarl this weekend, but the heavy rainfall forecast made it unsuitable. We requested to reschedule, but were informed that our deposit would be forfeited. The resort cited peak season and potential loss of income as reasons for their inflexibility, despite our long-standing relationship with them. We believe that camping operators should prioritize customer satisfaction and flexibility, particularly in adverse weather conditions. Unfortunately, Berg River Resort failed to meet these expectations. We would not recommend booking with Berg River Resort due to their rigid cancellation policies and lack of customer-centric approach. *Details of complaint:* - Booking date: [13 Feb 2026] - Camping dates: [27 Feb - 1 Mar 2026] - Reason for cancellation: Weather conditions - Cancellation date: [25 Feb 2026] We hope that the resort will reconsider their policies to prioritize customer satisfaction.

Good place but not for a crowd that want to party or play music.. Bad experience on the slide, as the floor of the slide pool is very slippery and caused me and my little one to swallow quite an amount of water which could've been worse but he's okay..

Dear Management of Berg River Resort,I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration regarding the discriminatory treatment my family and I experienced at your resort on May 2nd, 2024. Despite our excitement to enjoy a camping trip together, we were shockingly turned away solely based on the fact that we did not meet your narrow definition of couples and families.Upon arrival at approximately 13:00, my father, my brother, his partners two sons, and I were informed by your staff that the resort is only for couples and families, and because we did not have any females with us,my mother passed away, we were not welcome. Despite our attempts to explain that we still consider ourselves a family unit and that our fami**** bond transcends gender roles, we were met with blatant disregard and refusal to accommodate us.It is deeply troubling and unacceptable that Berg River Resort upholds such outdated and discriminatory policies. By refusing entry to families like ours, which may not fit into your rigid definition but are nonetheless families in every sense of the word, you perpetuate harmful stereotypes and exclude diverse groups from enjoying your facilities.Furthermore, it is concerning that your staff did not provide information regarding bookings. We made two separate calls to your institution to inquire about reservations, and both times we were told that bookings were not necessary and that we could simply arrive at the resort. However, upon our arrival, we were turned away without any consideration or explanation. It is evident that Berg River Resort's policies are not only discriminatory but also inconsistent and lacking transparency. As a member of the community, I urge you to reevaluate your criteria for admission and update your policies to be more inclusive and reflective of the diverse families that exist in today's society.I am deeply disappointed by the treatment we received and the discriminatory practices of Berg River Resort. I hope that you take this complaint seriously and take immediate action to rectify this situation and ensure that no other families are subjected to such ************** in the future.Sincerely, Conrad Joseph

Very disappointing... For R100 pp day visitor I would expect the toilets to be upgraded ... It's as old as the hills... They could also station a cleaner at the ablution block to make sure the place is kept clean... And the park is in such poor condition ... One wonders what happens to the money people pay ... If they don't give some attention to the upkeep of the facility. They will start losing support from the public. Only the chalets seem to look ok from the ioutside

Berg River Resort: Unfortunately I would not recommend this place. Firstly it was very overcrowded with not only campers, but also millions of day visitors using the facilities. A lot of people got crazy drunk and acted like twits, disturbing other campers throughout the whole night. (Repeated phone calls throughout the night to management did no good) None of the resorts rules were upheld.(no drinking alcohol by the pool, wearing of masks in the shop, etc) The people here seem to think that they have gone on holiday from Corona as well. I called the shop owner to complain about 20 people being in the shop at once, and half of those with no mask, and she just said they are tired of asking people to wear masks and need the money. I wont be back.

What a waste of a weekend. We arrived on Friday to camp and we got told by reception we could go anywhere in block A-F. We settled in and woke up on Saturday morning to a RUDE MANAGER telling us we cannot be in block b as it’s only caravans. He asked us if we were told by reception that block b is only for caravans. Which we WEREN’T. He then went to confirm with her. She then lied and told him that we were told. Now having to pack up all our tents was such a mission and so unprofessional as we could’ve avoided all of this by being told in the beginning!!!!!! SO UNPROFESSIONAL.

Our office had made arrangements to have our year end function to be held at the Berg River Resort on the 9th December 2019 and we had officially signed the indemnity form which was sent to the management of Berg River Resort on the 30th October 2019. Arrangements was made with Chantelle Hall from the resort to allow our employees to be checked in on the 9th December separately as their group bookings has ended on the 6th December 2019. On the day of arrival we were all turned away and refused entry from the reception and the two officers on duty at the front desk was very rude and blatantly refused to look into or make any effort to check the arrangement that we have made with Chantelle Hall. Nevertheless all our employees were extremely disappointed and we had to make last minute alternate arrangements that effected our year end function negatively. The attitude of the officers that morning makes us wonder why we were turned away as some of our employees were people of color. No solid reason was provided by the officers at the front desk except to mention that we are not allowed to enter as a group and only couples are allowed. Management of our company would like a full explanation from the Berg River Resort and compensation for alternate arrangements that had to be made and costed the company more for the event.
