Our booking has been cancelled for the third consecutive time. Due to poor communication we only found out about first cancellation in the morning of my child's birthday when we arrived at the station all excited for his birthday gift trip. This after we had paid to stay over in CPT to ensure that we are on time for the trip. The second booking came with misunderstandings around available dates which affected ****orkers in my team. For the third cancellation, accommodation was paid for again and will be forfeited due to short notice of cancellation. Very disappointing.

Our booking has been cancelled for the third consecutive time. Took Polish Quest on trip to Elgin (10 Aug) We got delayed in Bellville - fine with it but no personnel knows what happening all just say " order from the power" that is if we can find personnel as almost none available and not one seen After the train stop no more snacks was avaalible for rest of the trip " None Zero Zilts" We did not prebook as the plan was to eat lunch at Elgin Market Most of the train was full of unruly drunk people walking noisely up and down the aisle - what a picture of South Africa Again no personnel to organise and keep control . A terrible trip not managed by the rail personnel that anyway wee under staffed? Upsetting trip with egg on my face Johan and Stpehenette du Toit 0767611110

I've been hoping for many years to do the steam train trip from Cape Town to the Elgin Railway Market. Finally booked my trip for September and started counting down the days, all excited. Unfortunately, the trip for that specific date had to be cancelled due to the recent storms that have hit the Western Cape. Quite understandable and one is grateful that Ceres Rail Company places safety above profit. However, what is even more remarkable is the efficient way in which they communicated the cancellation, gave me options to reschedule or request a refund, and when I selected the refund option it was processed the very same day. I'm so used to other companies taking their time with refunds and delaying payments, so it's quite refreshing to deal with an organisation that understands how to treat their customers right. I will definitely book a trip again as soon as possible and recommend Ceres Rail Company based on the excellent customer service received so far. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Good day, very disappointing. Very very Bad experience I don't even have words to describe what just happened. We boarded the train at 7 30 am this morning, at 9 we experienced a two hour delay at Belvillie station which we were calm and still excited. We managed after the two hour delay to continue our trip to Elgin Market where we had a lovely time. On our way back the trained stopped again, we were told that there is a delay due to an unknown reason. One hour passed, the technician is trying to resolve. Two hours passed We were still literally in the middle of nowhere, apparently an abandoned station. No proper feedback. This left us feeling unsafe. We saw people walking over a bridge calling Uber. We decided to follow as the train was stationary in the dark. We got feedback that technicians are working but no exact time when this will be resolved. We then managed to get an Uber thankfully another passenger waited till our Uber arrived. What a terrible, horrific experience wouldn't recommend this train trip to anyone. I don't even think any compensation can rectify what just happened. We currently in an Uber but I feel so much sympathy to the people still left of that train in the middle of literally nowhere in darkness. We were also told that if we leave the train it is at our own risk and cost. The audacity, what about the risk us being on that stationary train at this hour.

I booked 4 tickets for 17 December 2022 but was unable to make the trip as I got sick and was hospitalized. When enquiring whether I will be able to get a refund for my ticket, I were promised that the ticket would be refunded. More than 2 months later, I am still not refunded. According to the communication I received on the 21st the refund had been done according to Ceres Rail Company, however no refund is displayed in my bank account. If I do not follow up, I receive no communication. This is very very poor service from Ceres Rail!
