If you feel like having a BURGER and chips, this is the place to go. Make sure to go hungry or you will have to carry a doggy bag afterwards. There is always a buzz at the Brewery and looking at the burgers and chips, its no wonder why. Good Food, Good drinks and a good view.

We used to love stopping at Clarens Brewery for a pub lunch. The menu has recently been changed but food does not live up to expectations. My husband ordered the lamb shank, the most expensive item on the menu. It looked nice on the plate but what a disappointment, the lamb was served cold as were the vegetables. My burger at least was freshly cooked and was ok. Will not be stopping there for food again.

We specifically stopped here yesterday after hearing about it from friends. Walked in at 12h30, stood at the front door while waiters wafted past but not one greeted or showed us to a table. It's practically like self-service there - get own table and clear up mess from previous customers. Waited over 10 min before being asked if we've been helped to which I replied no and we were about to walk out.

Had a warm platter for two for a hundred bucks which was disappointing. They cut up the sausages so you can't tell how many there are, but it was probably two, along with three bread rolls plus two random slices of bread roll offcuts and some indistinguishable spreads in four tiny ramekins, plus two gherkins.
A pretentious place with staff huddled at the bar counter, ignoring customers, not to mention staff sitting on the outside staircase and smoking while wearing uniform looking totally unprofessional.

Avoid this place unless this is the type of service you enjoy spending money on.

Rather go to Black Horse Brewery if you're in Gauteng - a much, much better place. They actually run their place like a business and not a student hangout joint.

Some time ago my wife and I were in Clarens and, as we always do, we had a beer at the Clarens Brewery and ordered 3 cases of their fantastic product to take home. When we opened some of the stout that we took home, we found that it was flat. When I called the brewery and spoke to Natalie, she apologised, explaining that a problem had occurred with a regulator which affected some of their products. She offered to refund me for the flat beer, and asked for my banking details. When the refund was received I found that the amount deposited was not only for half of the consignment, which was flat, but for all three cases. I feel that this dedication to customer service must be lauded as it is not often that one comes across this kind of commitment to customer service these days.

Recently I visited Clarens and went to the Brewery for lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the craft beers served. So much so that i went back on Sunday to buy a case to take home. Sadly on my return, all the beers I had bought were flat. I contacted them and very promptly and professionally, Natalie took my details and arranged for a replacement case to be delivered at home.

This type of customer service seldom happens so i was very impressed. I can't wait to return.
