I am honestly surprised that an establishment with so much potential continues to operate at what feels like a three star standard. My recent visit to The Palms at Glenburn Lodge was disappointing from start to finish. On arrival, there was no drinks menu available, and our waiter seemed unsure about what the bar actually offered. After eventually ordering a simple snack basket, we waited more than 45 minutes for basic finger food. What made the experience even more frustrating was being given inaccurate wait times, which left us feeling misled rather than informed. When the food finally arrived, it fell well below expectations. The sausages were undercooked and watery, basic condiments like salt and pepper were not readily available, and the overall service felt disorganised. It was clear that the staff were trying their best, but equally clear that they have not been given the training or support needed to deliver a proper hospitality experience. This does not feel like a people problem. It feels like a management and training gap. Unfortunately, we had already committed to staying overnight and were unable to find alternative accommodation at such short notice. I am hopeful that dinner at the restaurant this evening will redeem the experience, but based on what we encountered this afternoon, I cannot currently recommend Glenburn Lodge. It is especially disappointing because the location near Johannesburg is beautiful and holds incredible promise. With stronger management oversight, proper staff training, and more attention to guest experience, this venue could truly live up to its potential.

I'm disabled by a severe stroke and this resort is atrocious for wheelchair users. The ramps that they have installed are so steep and slippery that I nearly fell on my face. The so called accessible suite is at the very top of an *******ly steep ramp . The staff are fabulous and the rnvironment is clean; food is adequate and conference venue is stunning bug I had a terrible time due to unsuitable ramps and steps everywhere dread going back

The staff at Glenburn Lodge and Spa are always so helpful and friendly. My husband and I had a wonderful holiday there. It's so tranquil...great place to relax. The scenery is break taking. So much so that we arranged my sisters proposal on the island at Glenburn. Again the staff was so friendly and helpful. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway, a wedding venue or even just to relax.

Customer experience has been disgusting when it came Glenburn Lodge processing my refund. When checking in my wife was in the car and I went in to pay the balance, so I was billed an incorrect amount and payed it as I was not sure of remainder of the balance left. I was shocked, told my wife when I got to the car that why is this amount so high as if we did not pay when booking. We went back to find out details as to why we billed double the amount we supposed to be billed. They said they had made a mistake, we will get our refund when we checkout. Upon us checking out they could not process the refund and we were told to leave our banking details and this would be processed within a day or two. It has been more than seven days now and I am still waiting. i have followed up three times with them and I keep on being sent from pillar to post. Its either they would say that the person that was handling my issue is not in, they will ask and given me feedback. I would not even get a courtesy call to update me. Got fed up and asked to speak to General Manager Nigel Peel as i was not satisfied with feedback received from Supervisor, I was told that the lady that handles accounts is not available and I will be given feedback tomorrow when that lady is at work.

We had our wedding at the Bush Willow Tented Camp at Glenburn Lodge in March 2017. I did not think that my wedding could be any more perfect, but after the service, we received from the venue staff on the day, it made everything more than perfect. I did not have to worry about anything!! The staff are there to make you feel like the king and queen on your wedding day!! The food was made to perfection. We had a braai menu and we were worried that the meat might be dry but everything was juicy and so full of flavour. The chef made it extra special by braaing our meat to our liking. I would really recommend this venue for any function!!

Glenburn lodge and spa experience My Fiancé booked my sister and I in at Glenburn for 2 nights 6-8th May 2019. He is currently in US, so he made the booking through hotels.com and paid R2050 for the two of us, he also tried to make is more spacious for us by booking a family room. we got there they told us we need to paid a shortfall of R1300. We couldn’t understand why, until the staff at reception explained that hotels.com take off a percentage for themselves, that’s how they make their money. And so we need to pay the shortfall of R1300 which we then did (felt quite irritated about it, a nice hidden surprise just before a short 2 night getaway) Also found out after we paid that if we had booked directly through them we only would have paid R1600 for the two nights instead of the R3350! They saw our disappointment and you would think they would try bump us up or try make our stay more worthwhile for money spent!? We never got a family room! We had one double bed to share!! Then we wanted to start enjoying and stop complaining, we asked for 2 extra pillows when we got to the room, then went to check the jacuzzi water and it was cold so we made another call asking that they please heat it up for us. In 5 hours time we went check the water, still freezing cold then called again and only then did they start heating it, by this time we where ready for bed and never got to enjoy the jacuzzi on our first day there. Before bed we had to call again to find out where our extra pillows where. When eating at the restaurant we never got any stake knives to eat our meat with, butter knifes was given on both nights of eating meat there. Very few of the staff was helpful or enthusiastic about serving us. We get that it’s after Easter and we came at an off peak time and on a Monday afternoon when no one feels like serving guests, but we did pay more than a fair amount and was expecting way better service than this!! The bicycle ride on the Tuesday morning was a small fee of R80 which we where totally cool with but they only had mountain bicycles for men which I with tried out, but it was terribly uncomfortable and way too high for me. The other bicycles where also no good and all the chains on the bikes where not oiled, not a smooth or enjoyable ride for us. We came back after 5 min and was told that our R80 could be kept towards drinks or whatever we ordered from the restaurant later on. We went to enjoy the games room the Tuesday afternoon, the pool table is in a terrible condition with ***** missing and no chalk for the sticks, the veld is in such a terrible condition. Only the table tennis worked well. Football table was also in a bad state. Anyway, when we booked out they said we must still pay the R80 that they told us will go toward our meal we ordered for dinner the previous night, we even settled it with the waiter before we went to bed, we where assured that it was all square! By the time we checked out and had to settle another stupid amount of R80... I was about to crack! All I can say is, I do not recommend Glenburn lodge! Greatest holiday disappointment yet!!
