I purchased an Osprey Sirrus backpack, and upon arrival saw that the raincover was missing which is supposed to be included in this pack. When I told Lisa and sent photo's, she organised for one to be sent. I received a secondhand used raincover!! It just shows you what they think of their buying customers! Please think twice before purchasing from them.

Pathetic service. Item advertised wasn't what was ordered and when questioned about the item, they provide you with their opinion on the item. After 25 mails this shouldn't be an option for the seller to convince the purchaser to keep the item, because they think it's a good item which was sent. You are then requested to return the item at your own cost and when requesting your refund, they don't refund you with the same amount the item was purchased at. This store is of the worst I've ever dealt with. "Lessons learnt."

Avoid this shop. Their business is highly unethical. They fool their customers by reselling products from other shops and hiding that by painting over that other shop/brand name with a black marker. Not to mention the price is doubled. They refused to refund me when I complained. The service at the shop was good though, can’t take that away. Overall experience - will never use them again.

Had a similar experience at Hiker’s Paradise as Betsy. On my first visit middle 2020 I also got sold one of their most expensive hiking boots, while she pushed lotions, socks and sandals on me. I recently contacted them as the soles of my boots were coming loose. Leni handled the whole matter as an enormous inconvenience to her, and all my questions got answered with very curt and clipped tones. Upon enquiring a few days later on the process of the replacement boot, I was handled in the same way upon which I explained to her I have a big hike coming up and I need to know I will have new boots. Again, the condescending attitude with irritation clear in her voice. So I got my replacement boots, poor Memory tried to save the day, but I will never go back to Hiker’s Paradise. I don’t need to feel like a low-life irritation when spending my money.

My first engagement with Hikers Paradise was in October 2020 ... upon walking in the owner, Leni, immediately had something snotty to say about the jacket I brought in which I wanted to find out if it will be sufficient for my upcoming big hike. I obviously said my say which I could see she did not appreciate. From there she went into money making mode right away - she sold me the most expensive pair of hiking boots, without even giving me an option to view the others, after which she carried on pushing for us to just buy more and more. She told us to rather buy down than synthetic and ended up selling my friend a body warmer which we realized later was just that, synthetic! A few weeks ago, I ordered some socks online. I phoned to find out what size, based on what I bought previously. The socks arrived and one pair was men's socks, but identical to the ladies socks. I enquired this upon which Leni let me know that the men's socks are better for South African feet as our feet tend to get swollen during hikes. Naturally I was concerned (as these socks are expensive and I needed to know I am taking my expedition on with the correct socks) so I responded asking that if that is the case, does that mean that all the other socks which are ladies socks are therefore incorrect for my feet? She never responded. I mailed again complaining to Memory (the lovely lady who works for Leni) that Leni does not answer my emails. I all of a sudden got a very rude response, but yet still not answering any of my questions. I sent photos to show how the men's sock fit and asked the same questions again, also wanting to know that if she feels that the men's socks are better for ladies, why did she send me one of both or why sell the ladies one at all? All I got back was "fit the SOCKS and send the unfit socks back". ????? Although she has allegedly climbed every mountain possible and like to throw her "17 years experience" around, she does not have an ounce of people skills. She is unbelievably rude and once the sale has been made she does not give a flying hoot about you as the paying customer. I will never in my entire life go back to her shop and I will encourage everyone I know, both in my running- and hiking clubs to do the same. Leni, perhaps you should consider taking the next 17 years to learn how to treat your customers. Happy customers will return again and again. However, not to your shop Leni. Imagine how many more customers you would have if you could change the way you deal with people!

Had a very unpleasant experience with this shop. Bought clothes for my sister which the shop knew I might have to return as my sister could not come to the shop and we where not sure whether the clothes would fit. Most of the clothes was to small and I had to return it. When I did, they refused to refund the cash onto my card and would only give me a credit note. The ladies at the shop was rude and did not even want to discuss the matter. They simply ignored me and continued talking to other customers. Please be warned!

I wanted to buy a particular camp stove, but Hikers Paradise was out of stock and recommended another brand. Reluctantly, I asked the sales person if I could return it after the weekend if I wasn't happy. She confirmed and I bought it for R 599. I ended up not using it over the weekend and returned it (unopened) the Monday for a refund. She refused and said she had meant that I could exchange it and not return it for a refund. I asked to speak to the owner, but she was unavailable.

I subsequently found the same stove for R 350. It's been a month and I've left numerous voice meshes and sent emails, but the owner is refusing to speak to me.
