Worst treatment I have received from a hotel in South Africa. Aperantly a new Chines owner who does not know who treats customers. Staff at reception and management have no clue about cutomer service. I wanted just have a glass of wine but people from outside are refused entry. Put a sign op at the gate no access to non residents. Poor show.

Be careful not to make use of the irenecountrylodge.guestreservation.com listing. The price they show are in ZAR currency but when the transaction goes through it is in USD and approximately 50% more, with NO possibility of accepting the price or to cancel before finalizing the transaction. We as local RSA citizens communicated with Irene country Lodge, and the third parties, Salesforce and pps.priceline without any success. I feel this is deceiving marketing.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. We had a booking to spa and lunch for our year-end function, two days before the event we were informed that renovations would take place at the spa and that they would need to move our booking to the following week (a new date did not suit out group). A day later when enquiring if we could still make use of the restaurant, we were informed that we could only make use of the restaurant if we made use of the spa….the same spa that was closed and cancelled our booking. The receptionist was not helpful at all, no customer service what so ever. Would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

I would like to state my insincere dissatisfaction with the date night package received from Camdeboo on 09 April. 22. Before making my booking I was informed that the full body massage will be from 15h00 - 18h00. However the massage was barely even 50 minutes. It was more of a back massage than a full body massage. After we were done with the massage no one was there to guide us as to what will follow next. We sat in the benches for a good 10 minutes up until I asked one of the ladies last on what is next step, and she said we can change if we want to. The reception ladies were not professional at all, we had to figure out ourselves as to what to do next. Most importantly is the duration of the massage which I feel like we were deceived before making a booking. That was daylight robbery for a price of R2500. The picnic basket was not up to standard. It was just bits of everything not what a R722 picnic basket was supposed to be like.

We booked the ultimate romance package at Irene Country Lodge, inclusive of certain activities like 2x full body massages. We were contacted before our stay to pre-book and confirm time slots for the activities. Imagine our shock at checkout when they tell us we need to pay for the massages because they were not part of the package. And then they ask US to provide proof that the massages were indeed part of the package… *laugh with me* Ps. it’s on their website. Also, imagine our disappointment at checkout (checkout from hell) when they told us that breakfast closed at 9am!! Could you not have told us this when we checked-in?? This is not even the industry standard!! The food provided and served (whether buffet or from the a la carte menu was disappointing, at best. The beef stew served on 12/06/2021 was charred; the previous night’s pork belly was repurposed and served the following day - that was very obvious! They don’t cater for non-alcohol drinking adults except for JC Le Roux sparkling wine… at R260 per bottle. That’s more than 100% profit margin!! And of course we couldn’t partake in the wine/gin tasting (which was inclusive) instead we were offered milkshakes as an alternative. There’s so many non-alcohol options in the market including de-alcoholised wine and gin…do better!! The picnic offering is a dismal attempt. Firstly there’s only one decent picnic spot by the lake (first come first serve I guess); other spots have no shade so you would think that they’ll provide an umbrella or something right? Nope, they don’t. Infact the only picnic equipment they provide is a bite-size blanket and basket. No cushions, no cute accessories and/or decor. Not even a stable platform to balance the glasses. The food was COLD and squashed into the dirty (stained) basket. I took two bites of the chicken slider and realised the patti was RAW!! Also, the only form of drink they include is water- in those “re-usable” bottles. No juice, no sparkling/still water. And no one seems to know where/how clients can get their complaints addressed. This whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth… and this is after not even getting breakfast! So sour taste and empty stomach!!

I made a reservation at the Camdeboo Spa 2 weeks before the actual date for a special treat for my daughter's birthday. I was informed that I would receive a confirmation by email upon which I have to make payment to confirm the reservation. The email was never received, I made various calls to the Spa to get confirmation, but to no avail. I was always promised a call back which never happened. The night before the booking, I received a call to say our booking is confirmed......yay eventually! On the day of the booking, 1,5 hours before we were supposed to go, I get a call to say "sorry we have a problem with our staff and their transport, can we reschedule your appointment". OH MY WORD!!!! Are these people for real? Thank goodness I did not make payment in advance, as I cancelled immediately and this place missed out on almost R4k of treatments. Surely with Covid19 and hospitality industries taking a big knock, you would try your utmost to keep your customers happy, and not let a junior person call the client to give them the bad news, but get a manager to deal with it properly? I am totally disgusted at the way this was handled, Irene Country lodge and Spa - I won't put my foot there again!!

I am extremely disappointed at the contradictory’ information I received when inquiring about a reservation placed at your establishment .I made a booking for 4 adults through your website However, upon calling reception a few weeks later to confirm my booking, I was surprised to say the least. After being told that the room I booked is not big enough to accommodate 4 adults and I need to upgrade my room or book a second room. The receptionist mentioned that my booking is not valid as the 4 people in the room ‘must be the same family’. Furthermore, I was told that your ‘website cannot be updated with every small thing the government changes’. Please note that I have emailed and got no response, I have tried calling numerous times and my call had been disconnected after being transferred and no option to leave a voicemail, I have used your WhatsApp platform and got no response twice when inquiring about the establishment and the booking that I’d like to make. After sending many WhatsApp texts yesterday I finally received a call. Had I not been proactive and kept trying to get in touch I would have shown up on the date of check-in and been denied entry to my room where more chaos would have ensued. The alternatives given to me were also not helpful and favoured African Pride after informing them that this is my family that I am booking for and telling them that their booking site is misleading as it makes no mention of an executive suite for 4 or more guests, it only stated that the maximum amount of guests is 8. The Individual I spoke to advised upgrading to an executive suite so all 4 of us can stay together and the second individual advised 2 guests per room. I went ahead and cancelled my reservation as I felt that the information was contradictory.
