My first order. Delivery next day Wow! Except they sent me the wrong item. Now I first have to return the item, then they will only decide if my claim is valid and ship a replacement. It’s now three days and I am none the wiser, out of pocket and no product. Why am I treated like the guilty party, when Amazon is at fault? This was my first and last order.
Placed my order and paid, knowing 1)the item was in stock, and 2) it would be delivered within a week. Well a week past, so I sent them an email enquiring when to expect delivery, only to receive their reply, the next day, telling me the it is out of stock and offering me an inferior product as a replacement. I demanded an immediate refund, after all they were paid immediately upon my order. Still waiting. No product and out of pocket. And they ignore my emails. They do not even deserve one star.
They do not deserve even one star! It has taken them 4 days to tell me the item is unavailable/out of stock. This is a blatant lie. They advertised the item at the wrong price. A thousand rand cheaper than anywhere else. This is my response: Hi Mbali I don’t think you understand. You have taken 4 days to tell me that the item is unavailable, and I need this item for work purposes by latest Tuesday afternoon. You have not offered me any alternatives, just cancelled. You were happy to take my money immediately, thus you can credit me immediately at your own expense, which you can claim back from your supplier for false advertising. Note: I am a disabled person on very low income. If I don’t work, I don’t get paid. You have all of my disposable income, which I now need to source the item urgently, or I will not be paid. Please credit my account immediately. I have two days left to source this product, or you will be paying for my loses due to no work done. Jamie Mc Dougall
This business is as *****ed as the chairman of the trustees of our complex. Cover for each other, refuse to relinquish posts. The lies can be proven. But if you dare take them on, you are treated like the proverbial mushrooms. Stay far away from this business. Rather pay more and get a truly professional business to manage your affairs. Huurkor etc are well recommended.
I get the feeling this company is closing down, or going into self-destruct mode, in the advent of Amazon returning to SA. There is an issue with, at least, every second order: - wrong goods are delivered - goods not as advertised - item was not available, so they ship something that closely resembles it - the item was never in stock, at Takealot or the supplier - false advertising - Takealot take no ownership or responsibility for their shoddy business activities Takealot are giving online shopping a bad name/reputation, and make physical purchases a more viable option.
Almost every second order is wrong, or goods that are broken/not as described. Returning goods is a pain. Something you have already waited a week for can take another two weeks, just to receive the incorrect item again. It takes them days to assess and decide if the wrong item they sent me can be returned. Whether the goods originate from their own warehouse, or they are supplied via Takealot, it still carries their name. This business is their own worst enemy. They are playing into the hands of Amazon, when they return next year.

If I didn’t know better, I would say this company is a scam. Zero communication from the courier. I have to log onto their website to view the status of my delivery. Only to read that they were “unable to deliver”, on the date they say they were going to deliver. Utter nonsense, I have been waiting all day, phone in hand, and no one has been to my premises. NEVER use this company or purchase online from businesses that use them.
This business has to be a scam. After no response to emails, I posted my warning on their Facebook page, to which I received a response later in the day where they deny their website is a scam. They advised that they do not keep stock. Even though they allowed me to purchase the item. They promised to refund me immediately. A week later, I have not received my order or a refund. STAY CLEAR. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY GOODS.
I enquired about a certain model of a synthesiser back in July 2021, but they did not have in stock. After calling all the music stores in SA, they were all waiting for stock, expected end September 2021. At 12:00, on 24 August 2021, A1 Sound sent me a photo via WhatsApp, showing that they had just received stock (I never asked them to come back to me). I was sceptical about the store, as Google reviews were very poor. They quoted me a price which I accepted and did an immediate bank transfer. And the synth was delivered to my doorstep later that afternoon. Where does one hear of “same day delivery” in South Africa? They also followed up with me to enquire about my satisfaction with the product, which has never happened to me with any other local purchase, let alone a music instrument store. All in all, I am over the moon and this store will be the first that comes to mind when making a purchase of a musical instrument/product. Thank you guys!
