They operate in the medical field but have no medical experience. I would advise anyone to rather stick with a professional.
An AI circus. Someone at Afrihost decided to implement AI support agents, yet pretend they were real people. Engagement is impossible, AI loops lead to a flood of unsolicited messages, and any complaints are respnded to with an AI response. They have given up on the existence of their customer base and made every touch point a nightmare. Run fast, customers are treated as sub human by Afrihost.
Headlamps are mostly overpriced *******. I think I used mine less than 10 times before it packed up (while in the bush in Botswana). I have a cheap Energizer headlamp I received as a teen that's still going strong. I'll go back to that, and stick with it.
Delivery was prompt. Watch pairs with the app easily. Nice looking piece of equipment. I don't expect any issues.
UK company masquerading as a South African supplier. Import duties will be almost equal to your invoice total.
I wish I had come here first. If you are considering buying a Mecer device, I didn't come here looking for supplier feedback, only to warn others that their current 1.39 HelloPeter rating is there for good reason. Not only are their devices sub standard (my laptop packed up after 5 months), but their post sales support is so appalling that you will be left wishing you never encountered Mustek in your life time. They will do anything to dodge accountability and honoring warranties, from blaming the user for not being able to turn a laptop on, to generating "tech reports" that "prove" that a device that does not even switch on, is considered to be in working order. There is far superior tech available in a similar price range from other suppliers.
I booked accommodation through SafariNow in Cape Town. Safari now debited my account for the full amount, yet proceeded to contact the host and tell them it was a fraudulent booking. The host cancelled my stay the day prior to arrival, even though the full amount for the stay had been charged by Safarinow. I was not contacted at all by SafariNow, the only correspondence I received was a message from the host saying SafariNow had told them not to honour the booking.
In January of 2015 I updated my life insurance policy to include my elderly mother. On the 29th of September I wanted to increase my cover and add additional beneficiaries, but I discovered that Old Mutual had not added my mother in the first place. I requested a refund for the premiums paid (they did not provide the cover I was paying for) and was flatly refused.

I cancelled my policy on the 29th of September via telephone, e-mail and in writing and (fortunately) also cancelled the debit order at the bank. They did not process the cancellation until the 7th of October, and now claim I have a missed premium on my profile (which affects your credit score).

Their internal complaints process does not do anything aside from send an automated email to say it will be dealt with.

Life insurance beneficiaries are a critical matter to anyone, yet Old Mutual does not take any responsibility to actually update them - something that can cause huge amounts of trouble for the family left behind in the event of accidental death.

I will ask Old Mutual again: please refund me for the the premiums paid for which you did not provide cover, and backdate my cancellation to the 29th of September.
On the 30th of May 2015 I hired a bakkie from Thrifty in Hatfield. The car was parked in the shade and the inspection carried out by a very disinterested security guard. Upon returning the car I was told that a very minute crack in the windscreen was my fault (it was there since I hired it but only saw it once the car was in the light). The inspection upon return of the vehicle is much more thorough than when it leaves the depot so I implore anyone hiring from Thrifty to either do a very, very thorough inspection yourself, or avoid them all together as their vehicles are old and damaged and they wont hesitate to bill anyone for existing damage.
