I recently sent a package by PUDO using their Locker to Door option. I live in a rural area between Pietermaritzburg and Durban, so dropped off my package at the PUDO locker in the nearest small town. The drop off was made at around 09:00 hours. I was amazed to hear from the recipient in Durban that afternoon, that the package had been received by them by mid afternoon. That is only around 6 hours from drop off to delivery. Who says PUDO is no good? Well done The Courier Guy and PUDO!
I needed to send a package from an outlying area in KZN to Durban, so on Sunday 22nd February 2026, in the evening I got online to the PUDO website to register a delivery from locker to door. I completed all that was asked for and was given an indication by the system that it had been accepted. Expecting to receive a PIN from PUDO to open the locker to deposit my package, I did not receive one. Being a Sunday, there wasn't a real person to speak to on the phone for assistance, so the chatbot told me that someone would contact me the next morning. Sure enough, I received an email early on Monday morning from one, Niko Baloyi at Customer support, TCG. She tried to assist me by email, but we were unable to resolve my problem. Niko then phoned me and we then understood each other. It turned out that my online application had not been successful and she asked me if I would like her to complete the registration on my behalf, which I accepted. Niko Baloyi spoke clearly, was polite, understanding and efficient and solved my problem speedily. My delivery was registered and I received the required PIN number to open the PUDO locker. She is a credit to TCG customer service.
The agent spoke clearly and was professional and addressed my request efficiently.
If you are wanting someone to install or work on your DSTV satellite installation, DO NOT HIRE SKYTECH SATELLITE TECHNOLOGIES! I Googled “Satellite TV installations” to search for a company or individual to install cabling and a connection to the dish and DSTV decoder. “Snupit” popped up and so I put the message out through them for my area. Arnold from SKYTECH SATELLITE TECHNOLOGIES was the first responder and he told me that his technician would contact me. The technician – Calvin, did contact me and foolishly, I did not ask for a quote before taking on SKYTECH SATELLITE TECHNOLOGIES, as they present themselves as “Professionals” on SNUPIT and on their website, so I assumed they would have charges in line with other professional installers. It turned out, they are total rip-off artists with their pricing. After the installation, Calvin the technician sent to do my installation, said he would have to be paid. I asked him to send me an invoice and I would pay by EFT. Calvin sent me an invoice for R3627.50 on Whatsapp. I have never had a DSTV installation done before and so I thought that as the company is listed on Snupit as “professional”, that was the going rate. Calvin pressed me into paying immediately, as he said he had to show his boss (Arnold) that the job had been paid for, before he left the premises. Foolishly, I paid the invoice immediately. It was only after Calvin had left that I looked at the details on the invoice and saw the outrageous charges. I was charged for 30 metres of coaxial aerial cabling, where only 8 metres was actually used (I personally measured it). When querying it, I was told by Calvin that they always allow some slack in the cabling “for future adjustments”. I pointed out to Calvin and Arnold that allowing for 22 metres of slack is highly excessive. The charge for the cable was R28 per metre, which is also excessive! TV installers buy a 30 metre cable drum at around R6.00 per metre, so 30 metres will cost them R180.00. This is a 467% profit that SKYTECH charged, without even using most of the cable! Likewise for the LNB. Their charge for a smart LNB is R1250.00, where an LNB from any of the major chain stores averages a R450.00 cost. A mark-up of R800 on a R450 product for SKYTECH SATELLITE TECHNOLOGIES! A charge of R150 was levied for “Sundries”, where the sundries used didn’t even come to R12.00. The so-called “sundries”,were 15 x cable staples; 2 x cable connectors - 1 at the LNB and 1 at the decoder; and 2 or 3 cable ties were used. I counted all these myself. After I saw the excessive charges, and to get a comparative quote, I contacted one of the other DSTV installers who had contacted me from the SNUPIT lead. His quotation for the exact same job was R1850.00 – half of the SKYTECH charge. When asking Arnold for a refund of these excessive charges, he defended his man Calvin, saying that Calvin was “adamant” that what was charged for is what was installed. This proved to me that Calvin is a totally dishonest person and Arnold, his boss was approving his dishonesty. When I sent to Arnold, a photograph and video of the actual cabling that had been installed, even including a tape measure to prove the length of cable installed, Arnold terminated all communication with me. DO NOT HIRE SKYTECH SATELLITE TECHNOLOGIES – unless you want to be **********! In my experience, this is a company that is dishonest and lacks integrity.
Imaginet is an ISP based in the Eastern Cape. I have been an Imaginet client for around 10 years. The service I have received from Imaginet and staff is nothing short of excellent. Over the last number of months I have had numerous problems with LTE reception and have had to contact Imaginet technical staff for assistance. Their helpfulness, friendliness and willingness to help goes beyond what most other company employees offer or provide -in any field. What I really appreciate with Imaginet is : (a) that when one calls in with a problem, if they are unable to answer the call immediately, they offer a call back service. This is not to just appear to be be efficient and offer a good service - they actually do call back. (b) When a staff member answers the phone - 1. They all identify themselves by name, 2. they speak English (my language) clearly so you can understand what they are saying. 3. They patiently guide one through any setup to be done. 4. They follow up to find out if the problem has been resolved. Anyone wanting an ISP can be sure they will have excellent and satisfactory service from Imaginet. Well done to all the technical staff at Imaginet!
Roger at Autosport in Cambridge, East London has got to be one of the most helpful and friendly business owners in East London. The "Autosport" name is a bit misleading as Roger deals in garden equipment - lawnmowers, trimmers, generators. When I had a problem with a brand new lawnmower bought online, Roger had just taken over the agency for the brand. He handled my complaint quite readily and effectively and within a week I had a new replacement lawnmower. Further, when I needed spares for a generator of the same brand as the lawnmower, Roger sorted it out within a day as opposed to a previous agent for the brand who after 6 months could not provide the required spare. Well done Roger and your team!

I have been insured with Dialdirect for a number of years for home contents and motor insurance and fortunately have not had the need to claim until recently when my home was burgled. Having complied with the formalities - SAPS case no. etc. and submitting my claim, Dialdirect replaced all that was stolen and paid me out for some of the goods irreplaceable without question. There was no attempt - as one often hears about with insurance companies - to try and avoid replacement or payment. Everything was dealt with promptly and professionally. Full marks to Dialdirect! *****
I'm not surprised that Santam have such a low rating on reviews. This happened way back in 1986 and one would have expected them to have changed their attitude and policy towards clients, but it seems not. I was insured with Santam for comprehensive household insurance at the time. I made a few small legitimate claims for some garden furniture that was stolen and at a later stage for clothing and other items stolen during a burglary. Months later I moved from where I was living, to the Johannesburg area and out of the blue received a letter from Santam to say that I was considered an "uninsurable risk" and my cover would cease immediately. I was about to go on holiday two days later, but had to cancel because I could not take the chance of being uninsured. As said - a long time ago, but I have never forgiven Santam for this and never will. They have earned their bad reputation.
In order to get a visa for the UK, my wife and I attended an interview at the TLS Contact Centre in Durban on the 7th May 2019. Passports submitted are sent to Pretoria for the visa application processing. Because we live 600 km from Durban we were unable to collect our passports in Durban at the TLS Contact Centre and so elected to have them couriered to us. The cost of two courier charges were charged to my credit card (R581.00)– one for my passport delivery and one for my wife's passport delivery. I did not query it at the time because I do not know how the UK Embassy operate and I thought that perhaps the visa applications for my wife and myself are processed separately and despatched separately. However the passports were delivered together in one delivery. The TLS Contact Centre have scored R290.50 off me. On querying this with the TLS Contact centre and requesting a refund of R290.50 from them, I received a reply from them stating “Please be informed that according to our Terms of Payment (https://uk.tlscontact.com/ ) no refund is payable under such circumstances.” In my opinion this nothing short of dishonesty and amounts to theft.
