I started my internship on 6 August 2024 of which I signed a contract under sedibeng TVET college, sponsored by Cathsseta...however they college didn't give us a copy of our contracts. On the day of the induction they mentioned that we shouldn't get PREGNANT while on the program, but I found out on the 2nd of September 2024 that I'm preg and I wasn't even aware,so I continue working I think after 2 weeks of finding out I was pregnant I contacted the program coordinator from the college to tell her about my situation, she just asked about where I am doing my practicals and my name...till this day she didn't tell me what to do. On the 11th of November 2024 I was going for my regular check ups at Bara hospital and unfortunately I got admitted for a cervical cerclage since I have complications and got discharged on the 19th of November 2024 after they kept me for a week at the hospital. On the 9th of December the college called me and told me that they won't be able to pay me for the doctor's appointments,in fact they don't pay for pregnancy since they told us not to get pregnant,so on the day I left the place where I do my practicals(host employer_ocean basket)spoke to the manager and explained the situation to her and i told her that I'm not sure if ever I'm coming back or not since the college wants me to work without getting paid.Yesterday I texted the owner of the restaurant where I'm doing my practicals, explained the situation to him also so he won't be surprised y I don't come anymore. So what I wanna know Is,is this even fair for me to work while pregnant while not getting paid, and be asked to resign cause of that or what cause even when we signed our contracts it said the stipend is R4100 the next thing we getting R3500,the college says R600 is admin fee but I don't know what for...I don't know the right person to contact about this situation but then this is the situation I'm currently faced with.

I am deeply disappointed by the lack of communication and professionalism regarding my internship completion process. I completed my Business Management internship in April 2022 and submitted the necessary documents, including my portfolio, as required. Despite following up, I have received no feedback or acknowledgment. In June 2024, I submitted my portfolio including logbook and supporting documents again, hoping to resolve the matter, but I am still waiting for any response. This is unacceptable, considering the importance of these documents for my career advancement. I demand immediate clarification regarding my internship status and an explanation for this prolonged delay. Kindly resolve this issue as a matter of urgency.

The college management honestly need to do something with the receptionist staff. They are rude and when you show them their mistakes, they go as far as defending themselves a bunch of “unprofessionals” why won’t they hire people who have enthusiasm?

I app**** for my nephew at Sedibeng TVET College last year. However I couldn’t complete the process because the system gave me an error message. After numerous attempts I asked my nephew to do it himself. But still he got the same error message. We then decided that as soon as the admin staff is back, even before the school opens, he should go to the campus and do a walk in. On Monday 08 January he went to Vereeniging campus where he was told to come back when the schools reopen. It didn’t sound right, it was like they were just getting rid of him. I subsequently called the office where I spoke to Zanele, I explained the challenge in detail but my plea fell on deaf ears. On Tuesday 09 January we tried Vanderbijlpark campus where he was told that there is no space and since he doesn’t have physical science he won’t qualify for any of the courses they offer. He was told he might get space at Sebokeng campus. He got to Sebokeng around midday and he was told to go back the following day since support team, Lerato and Happy, have knocked off already. On Wednesday, 10 January he went back to Sebokeng where he was told there is no space and should try Heidelberg campus. At this point he has gone to 75% of the sedcol campuses. It looks like it is a trend to be sent from pillar to post and get the same response. I have serious concerns: There’s something wrong with the system, that is why after numerous attempts, we thought we could do manual application It’s been a struggle for the longest time and now the course he wishes to study is ‘full’, according to the school staff. We are now out of funds from this back and forth, the next trips are getting difficult. We are starting to lose hope We are trying to get education for this young man so he can become a productive adult but the systems put in place are the same ones that are frustrating him. How can a learner with APS of 23 suffer so terribly. All he needs is to get education and become a better person. We have proof that dates back to 2023 that there was system glitch but no one listened. What else are we supposed to do while we are trying to do is do things the right way.

Been trying to get hold of the Student Support in Vanderbijlpark, my phone gets answered and who ever answers it busy talking with the other stuff at the back, and is not hearing what I'm saying because he was entertaining his colleagues but not me. Tried again twice, but then my calls gets rejected I dont know why. Those people at student support in Vanderbijlpark campus are not taking their jobs serious.
