Subject: Disappointing Christmas Lunch Experience at Selborne Hotel & Spa I regret to say that my recent Christmas lunch experience at Selborne Hotel & Spa was far from the festive celebration we had anticipated. From start to finish, the flaws in service and quality were disheartening. The arrival process was chaotic, and the lone staff member seemed overwhelmed, resulting in a frustrating wait for seating and a lackluster start to our visit. The drinks were served in plastic cups, a surprising choice for an establishment of this standard. Moreover, the absence of g**** or appletizer options left us with limited choices. The bon bons on the table were a disappointment, lacking quality and effort. It felt like a mere token gesture without sincerity. The service continued to disappoint, with delayed plates that were wet upon arrival. Speaking with the Food and Beverage Manager provided little comfort, as they seemed ill-equipped to address our concerns, citing a denied request for extra staff. The menu left much to be desired, with no redeeming dishes. Never did I imagine leaving a meal and declaring the best thing was the bread roll with butter. Overall, my Christmas lunch at Selborne Hotel & Spa was a culinary letdown that fell below the expected standards. I feel like I was ******!!

Villa A10 :we had a booking for this unit - turned out the unit was double booked and occupied. The Agent / Owner Juddle and Pravin Naidoo were occupying this unit and advertised it on booking.com , they were very rude inconsiderate and refused to refund our booking, it was late at night and we were left stranded without any other accommodation.he requested we go back home. Totally unacceptable and hope this will make others not to fall into the same trap.

I am quite disappointed with the lack of professionalism and sub-standard service that I experienced on attempting to check into Selbourne Golf Estate on 26 November 2021. This is the first time I have found myself booked into a Unit that was dirty, unprepared and, frankly unhygienic. The unit had an unpleasant odour, which seemed to come from carpeting. There was clear evidence that the unit was still under renovation, i.e. dusty floors, a ladder, bathroom glass doors and other bathroom accessories were lying around the unit There was a vacuum cleaner in one of the bedrooms There was dust all over the furniture and the microwave oven was filthy There was an odd pair of slops in the lounge in addition to a plastic bag full of mini bathroom soaps and related stuff The bin was filthy and smelly Some of the bedside lamps appeared broken and did not work properly. There were some sheets lying around the lounge - not sure if the linen had been changed I could go on endlessly about how unpleasant my experience was. When I tried to contact the agent her cell phone went on voicemail. So, I resorted to communicating with the hotel staff. Eventually, they offered me hotel accommodation while they resolved the issue overnight. I then had a meal and went to check-in, only to find that hotel management had booked all 5 of us into 1 room, which further added insult to injury. By this time it was 4 hours till I’d checked in. The hotel staff seemed to have no sense of urgency in resolving this issue. After I checked out and handed the keys back I then got a call from some agent who informed me that she was attempting to get me alternative accommodation at Shelley Beach, also unconfirmed. This was unreasonable because Shelley Beach is much further than Selbourne and this was not my initial choice. I then resorted to driving back home to Pinetown. I reached home just before midnight. I shudder to think what would have happened did not have an alternative or, I was a visitor from outside the province. This resort gives local tourism a bad name and it needs to be named and shamed for poor service and a complete misrepresentation of their units on their website.

Wish I can say it was a pleasant experience. For a place that looks amazing from the outside, the service is VERY poor. On Sunday we booked in, when we got there we were received with a smile and given the keys to our unit. Walk into the unit- uncleared Went back to reception, we’re given another key Unit- DIRTY Back to reception. At this point we are disappointed but still optimistic to find a room. The lady at reception was so embarrassed and said that this happened previously in the day too. So we get more keys and walk into more dirty rooms, when we got to the 8th dirty room and back to reception, the receptionist decided that she will have a look for clean rooms instead of us. So she checked upstairs in the hotel at 2 rooms - Dirty Then 2 more and then finally she came back saying she found a clean room, that just needs 2 pillowcases. We were super exhausted at this moment, so we went to the room… Bed weren’t made properly, shower was dirty, dirty towels on the floor, then I just freaked out because I was tired from the long trip and having to wait so long. We went back and told the receptionist that it is not clean and she is out of options. She tried to call her managers, to no avail. Then she took a key and said she can get in trouble for doing this but she had no other choice, she took us to the presidential suite, she said that this has to be clean… No it was not!!! So again we wait in the reception area, she took 4 more keys and checked more rooms, no success. She finally got hold on a manager who then told her to check the suite rooms. Nothing! How is this possible? All of those rooms unclean? At 23:40 we were given a room that someone else had booked, but did not show up. I have heard many great things about this hotel, and I am sure this seems like a made up story, trust me I wish it was. The next morning we had to leave early for a diving trip and we were so exhausted from lack of sleep. I am so disappointed in the Selborne Golf Estate & Spa

Went to try the Lord Selborne restaurant on Sunday for lunch. We ordered a salad for starters, which I must admit was fresh. The menu stated their bread rolls were homemade and freshly baked - absolutely stale! For our mains we ordered a vegetable curry, which looked and tasted like it had been frozen then defrosted in the microwave - awful couldnt eat it, we also ordered the 300g rump steak which was tough as nails. When we called the manager we asked her if the curry was frozen, she replied she would ask the chef.....she never returned with the answer. To cut a long horrible experience short, we sent our mains back, paid the bill and left. Upsetting that such a lovely estate cant get a decent chef and proper managers.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. NEVER AGAIN. We hosted 15 person baby shower today at the restaurant: WAITRESSES LOOKED ANNOYED/LAZY/NOT IN THE MOOD, ZERO help with set up, they didn't take drinks orders from guests even after we asked 3 times, they did not bring cutlery with food, our welcome platters for guests were VERY LATE. If we needed help it took us 10 minutes to FIRST FIND THE WAITRESSES IN THE BUILDING. A simple order of 2 teas took 20 mins to arrive. The CHEF took pics of our set up on her phone in front of us without asking us first. NEVER AGAIN.
