Based on recent customer reviews, Sunglass Hut receives praise for individual staff members who deliver patient, memorable service and for efficient warranty claim processing when it works well. However, the majority of feedback highlights significant frustrations, including unresolved warranty claims with poor communication, billing errors with slow refund processes, rude and unprofessional staff at certain branches, and a lack of post-purchase support such as replacement parts. Stores at Mall of Africa, Tygervalley, and Somerset West are specifically cited for negative experiences, suggesting inconsistent service standards across locations.

I won a voucher Sunglass Hut voucher from the Cape Gate Mall Cape Town. I went on a Sunday to purchase two pairs of Ray Bans from my voucher as an early Valentines gift for me and my partner. The lady who assisted ( Elize Jelander) me what very patient and helped me in all ways. I’m not use to wearing sunglass and also don’t know what shape or style to choose from. As I was sceptical regarding a few pairs I like. I asked her to keep it I will come back when I know which pair to purchase. She kindly stated the policy which I respected. I left and went back the next Wednesday. The best part is the same person what there (Elize Jelander) and she remember which glasses I tried on and conditie to give great service. I went home the a pair of ray vans that I love and do not regret. I love how she was patient and didn’t force me to take any pair and also continue with great customer service even though I was indecisive and annoyed. We need more people like her at retails stores. Good job sunglass Hut for hiring Elize Jelander

Hi All I really frustrated and angry with my previuos employer Sunglass Hut, I have left the company for almost a year +\- 6 years now and have been requesting them to pay my pension/provident funds to me and get ignored. I have called their head offices in Cape town (luxottica) whom deal with these funds, and have asked they assist with my money, but they the receptionist keep forwarding my calls to both Shereen smith@za.luxottica.com and lauren.cronje@za.luxottica.com, whom really just ignore calls and emails. Im really scared that they might be refusing to give me my money, they just dont wanna help. Please be aware of this as Sunglass Hut is a big company and dont think they really would treat their ex-employess this way.

I recently submitted a warranty claim on my Ray-Ban sunglasses. This was handled promptly & efficiently by the staff at Sunglass Hut & Luxottica. After collecting the glasses from me, the claim was processed in less than a week and a voucher issued on the same day. I can highly recommend Rebecca Maharaj, the rest of the warranty team in Cape Town & Luxottica. Also to S'lindile ZA008369 at Sunglass Hut Watercrest for the friendly, efficient service on the phone as well as in the store and for reserving the only pair in stock for me. We took advantage of the Valentine's Day 50% off on the second pair promo.

I went to the branch at Mall of Africa to ask for a ***** as mine broke and I needed to replace it. They told me they don’t have any extra *****s. It was rather disappointing as a +10year customer who went there for the first time to ask for assistance. Instead I was advised to go downstairs to their competitor and ask if they have one. Sunglass hit must consider having these at their premises in such cases which I believe are rare. I am disappointed by the lack of customer centric out focus post purchase

They don't even deserve one star, because the service is non-existent! I bought a pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses from Sunglass Hut in Port Elizabeth on 2 January 2025. Within a month the frame broke. I wanted to return it to a branch in my hometown, Pietermaritzburg, but was informed that I needed to submit it to the warranty department. I was given an email address to contact which is different to the one on the warranty document I possessed, however I emailed both on 16 July but received no response. I phoned them again and was given a third email address to contact, yet still have not received any response, despite speaking to a consultant on the phone. This is ridiculous.

I purchased A pair of sunglasses last Friday as a gift for a friend last Friday. I paid for that with my FNB Debit card, and to my horror, discovered that they had actually charged me R 37,000. My friend actually picked it up, and, being unable to make contact with me, she headed back to Sunglass Hut, Somerset West and produced the receipt for R3700 and the card amount of R37,000. I wasn't concerned as I assumed the card could be simply reversed on the card and all would be fine. But they refused to do that because for some reason this refund could only be made into my bank account in 3 working days! This sounded astonishing to me and it made no sense at all. I hurried over to my bank and they couldn't understand this either. It turned out that I only had R137 left in my account that had to last me until Tuesday (3 working days) . I went back to Sunglass Hut seething with rage! Apparently they had tried calling me for days, although they were never able to reach me, as it turned out that they were dialling some fictitious number that made no sense whatsoever. This had all come about by being served by a trainee, who is obviously dyslexic and had created this whole mess! AND they refused to reverse and credit the card. Absolutely disgusting!
