Good day Ark Car Rental, Cape Town, I wish to formally record my disappointment with the service I received. I hired your vehicle through my insurance company, which required a R2000 deposit. The delivery process was handled professionally, and I would like to commend the staff member who assisted me for being punctual and thorough in explaining the vehicle. Unfortunately, the following issues arose during the rental: 1. Upon receiving the car, I was informed that cover for rims, windows, and dents would cost R105 per day. However, this was calculated on a monthly basis rather than daily, resulting in a charge of R3 150. This was only communicated at the time of collection, leaving me with no alternative. 2. I was advised by the panel beating company that my own vehicle would be repaired within five days. The rental agreement reflected 12 days, yet I was ultimately charged for a full month. These discrepancies are unclear and concerning. I trust this feedback will be taken seriously, as the lack of transparency and unexpected charges have caused significant dissatisfaction

I recently rented a vehicle from Ark Car Rentals and had a deeply frustrating experience that raises serious questions about their inspection and billing practices. When I returned the car, the inspector pointed out what they claimed was a “scratch” under the bumper. I examined it on the spot and clearly stated that I did not agree it was caused by us. The mark looked like normal road debris from driving in rainy conditions, not damage. The car had been driven in heavy rain shortly before return, so the underside was wet and dirty — hardly a reliable condition for declaring new scratches with cer*****y. Despite my immediate dispute, Ark later emailed me an invoice for the alleged damage. What makes this worse is that the vehicle was taken away, cleaned, and then “buffed and polished” after I had already disagreed with the claim. By the time photos were sent to me, the area had already been worked on, meaning the evidence was no longer in its original state and impossible to verify independently. The photos provided to justify the charge do not show clear, undeniable damage prior to their cleaning and handling. Yet they are insisting on keeping my deposit and billing me further. After this happened, I looked up Ark on Hellopeter and found multiple other customers describing issues with deposits not being returned and similar claims about minor marks under the vehicle. Seeing my experience line up with so many others is extremely concerning. I strongly caution anyone considering renting from Ark Car Rentals. My experience felt unfair, the claim was not proven, and the entire process left me with the impression that disputed “damage” is treated as a billing opportunity rather than an honest assessment.

These people are professional *******!!!!! They will go to any lengths to not pay back your deposit. Just like other bad reviews here on HP, they point out small scratches underneath the front bumper..........really!!!!! They then charge you for the bumper repair and charge a R900 admin document fee for the claim. Effectively making sure that they don't pay back any deposit. All the time hiding behind the rental agreement. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!! PROFESSIONAL *******!!!!!

I spoke to Sanchon Loyt who was not professional or cared to me as a client who was following of her deposit back . All she kept on saying was refund Will be done within 10 working days from Termination, not even taking details from me till I ask her . What happened to good clients service

Worst Car rental company!! They are out to ***** your money by not paying back your deposit. They come with excuses of marks under your bumper. Its an easy way to get out of paying what belongs to you!! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

What a great service I had from Ark Rentals, from delivering the vehicle to collecting it from my work. I was promised to get my deposit in 10 day and indeed that was the case. A very special thanks to Mr Williams from Durbanville branch, keep up the good work.

Keep far away from this business. They came up with all sorts of damage reports that were found under the car when i needed my deposit back. Mind you I drove the car to work and back home for the duration, a distance where there's not the slightest possibility to bump the car under the bumper. Horrible experience with thse people. Anything to keep your deposit. The one star that I gave is too generous.

Keep far away from this business. They came up with all sorts of damage reports that were found under the car when i needed my deposit back. Mind you I drove the car to work and back home for the duration, a distance where there's not the slightest possibility to bump the car under the bumper. Horrible experience with thse people. Anything to keep your deposit. The one star that I gave is too generous.

It's over 2 months that I have been trying to get this matter resolved. I had a hired car with Ark Car Rentals, as mine was getting repaired. At a mall, a lade slammed her door into mine and I noticed the dent as I walked out of the mall. I then requested for the video footage. The SAPA got the details and these were submitted with the case to Ark. 1) I had to be charged a single access fee of R4500 2) They had a R2000 holding fee 3) Apparently there was a R300 refueling fee subtracted from my R2000 deposit 4) There is an admin fee of R900+ 5) They received a quote from a panel beater and invoiced the whole amount to me. Now, whether they actually do any work behind the scenes trying to recoup money from the lady who slammed their car or not, no body knows. It's taken them 2 months+ to send me the correct invoice. Now I am getting letters of demand. Please stay away from these guys.
