My wife purchased a second hand car from a salesman by the name of Dylan, we asked upon viewing the car if it had ever been in an accident, only to be told no as they don't sell cars that have been in an accident, so we went through with the sale. After having quite a few problems with the car over the past year and having to fit the bill in the end to get it fixed, we decided to purchase a new car and sell the other car privately, we have now been told by multiple dealers that the car was in an accident where they have physically shown us on the website the 2 accident reports. Everybody now refuses to buy the car from us due to this issue causing financial stress. One of the managers Ron, at Barons denies that they ever saw an accident report on the car and is not taking any responsibility for the false information that was shared with us by the sales person. This is unacceptable, their after service experience is really disappointing and not very helpful. They just wanted to sell the car before the end of the financial year without caring any further about the client that buys the car.

On Monday 02/02/2026 i tool my vehicle in for a 60000km major service and on Wednesday 04/02/2026 i had to return the vehicle to them because of a noise in the engine bay, on inspection the mechanic who service the vehicle found that the water pump needs to be replaced. Which he missed on wen carrying out the major service 2days before but now i took i have a lost of income for the service day and now 2 or more day without an income because i used my vehicle for work purposes. I have spoke to the Manager at Barrons Bellville, Barins Swart for a courtesy vehicle to use until mine is fixed and he did not feel need to give me one. No costumer should go through this because of a Qualified mechanic at VW Barrons Bellville and management does not want to take blame for this. This unacceptable and i will take this matter further.

took my Polo Vivo to Barons Bellville for a service on Wednesday morning. When I got home that evening, I noticed the cover around my gear lever was broken, it definitely wasn’t like that before. I phoned Thursday morning and was told to bring the car in on Friday, only to be told then that I should have just emailed the manager. What a waste of time and fuel. Barons still refused to take responsibility, claiming it wasn’t their fault and only offered to cover 50% of the cost. The only reason I chose them was because of the good feedback I’d heard, but this experience was incredibly disappointing. Do not trust Barons Bellville with your car, if something is damaged while it’s in their care, they won’t make it right. They’ve lost my trust and won’t see me again.

Honestly, the worst service I have ever had. Will NOT be taking my vehicle back to Barons Bellville. Asked them to look at the clutch, was told that the only way is to test drive it, which they would do in any event as part of the service. Was quoted R2,600 on the phone, which changed to R2,800 when I dropped off the car. Was called to advise that brake fluid must be changed for over R1,600 (I did not accept) and R32,000 for a new clutch (I did not accept). When I collected the vehicle, I had an extra R1,200 added to the invoice for checking the clutch. I queried this as it was NOT disclosed upfront and had to fight to have it removed. Was told I would receive a new invoice. I haven't. Email the service advisor on Friday, Juan, to request it. Still nothing, no response. No correct invoice. Took the vehicle for a second opinion. Was charged R290 for brake fluid change and told there is nothing wrong with clutch or flywheel.

Currently sitting with Brakes that's depleted (if that even a word to best describe it plus its noise) after having my 45kms service done and advising Barons for the 3rd time (3rd service that my brakes need to be replaced) This is absolute terrible service from such a big organization. I thank the heavens I made it safely to JHB..

First experience going to a well named brand and not really much fun. Front desk was helpful. Firstly I didn't know the procedure regarding the service of vehicle's, so I had to park and then go in to find out I needed to stand in a que, After about 15mins of waiting a friendly gentlemen with a smile, Tuxedo, came to assist me with booking my car in. Of which the only smile I actually saw. I did ask whether the vehicle will be washed, as I'm accustomed to the matter at other establishments. Afterwards, car was booked in all and well. Got follow up calls of the state of my vehicle, which I appreciated. However, when it came upon collecting the vehicle, It appears that the service agent was more concerned about rating of service and how well they did the job. Which I would rather have made anonyms, instead of behind questioned right on the spot for why the low rating. Were i haven't even seen or driven the vehicle as of yet. Upon seeing the vehicle, I saw that the car didn't appear to be washed as promised, and water marks are all on the windows which felt like the car was just watered down.

In all the 10 years I have been taking my VW this must be the worst service experience yet. the last previous two also was not great. Firsly one phones and leave message which never get back to service provider. Secondly the service provider is suppose to get back to you, which they didnt. Jean at the service center needs to up his performance. Way under par.

Be extra careful when deciding to accept a repair quote from Barons VW. One of our VW Caddy vehicles required attention as it was not driving well. We asked Barons to inspect and provide a quote for repairs to an acceptable standard. Their initial quote of R22k was comparable to other service centre, so we decided to give them a try. They assured us that our vehicle would be in good hands. After the service, they insisted on replacing additional parts for R3k to complete the fix. We paid the additional amount and collected the vehicle, but it still had issues driving back to the office. Barons has now added an extra R25k to the repair quote, stating that another major issue was missed during their initial inspection. You would expect that a VW-accredited mechanic would not overlook such a significant problem, especially during a week-long repair. Unfortunately, this was not the case. We trusted that they had covered all necessary check points, but we are now facing additional unexpected costs. I would advise others to be cautious before trusting Barons VW (Bellville) with repairs, as our experience has been both frustrating and costly.
