My go to vet is Dr Bernice. I take my African grey parrot to her for his avian routine. She is just absolutely exceptional and amazing. She treats all the exotic animals as if it's her own. She goes out of her way to help, if you have any questions. The best exotic vet by far.

Coetzee is a true bunny whisperer! If it wasn't for his passion and dedication I very much doubt that our beloved bunny would be alive! Bun Bun recovered under Coetzee's care not once but twice! We are so grateful for absolutely everything!

I have a bunny named Storm, now when I had first gotten her I did not know whether she was a male or female, how old she was or the difference between spay and neuter. I had sent them an email specifying all the things that I had not known and I had asked how much would it be if I were to get my bunny neutered. The receptionist gave me a set price of R1650 for the neuter and R580 for a check up and a vaccination if I had gone a week later to get my bunny neutered. I did the check up and found out that my bunny was a female I went to the reception told her it was a female and asked if she could schedule me for a neuter the following week. She did so not telling me that there was a difference between the neuter and spay and the price difference. I had budgeted R1650 for her and when I got there today for her neutering I was told it was a spay and had been explained what it entails and not that there was this massive price difference because she’s a female. I signed the document left her there and got a message later the day to state that her fees were R2050. I was surprised to see this amount as I was not informed about it. Honestly the only reason why I’m giving 2 stars is because the procedure went well but this is seriously ********* and unprofessional. Kindly train your employees on how to read emails correctly and supply your customers with the correct information. I’m disappointed, I had no problem paying for the procedure but to tell me on the day that it had increased by R400! That is disgraceful. Durbanville📍

ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC. You pay for a service, wings clipped the works, yet 6 weeks after that, our parrot got a fright and reached almost 15 meters in the air. Gone. When you confront the vet, she has all sorts of excuses. Even get either a family member or someone getting paid to respond to your review...... Apparently it is YOU as owners responsibility to keep your bird safe and check their wings. NEVER in my life have I had this experience with ANY OTHER VET. This parrot could never fly so high before she even had her wings clipped. Would rather pay more and have it done better and get treated better by a stupid vet than this

I have an indured animal here and I made a mistake thinking the people at Cape Exotics Animal Hospital would understand my concern and try to help. Their working hours weekdays are 08:00 to 18:30. After numerous attemps a lady finally answered the phone just after 18:00 and advised me to send photos of our indured animal to their whatsapp number. No body responded even though they showed online. When I telephoned their landline again at 18:12 an answering machine took the calls as if they're already closed. Come on people! Thanks to you I am stressed out and won't shut an eye tonight. For a first time customer experience this is very disappointing. It's actually scary that in a moment of panick and stress that my only option is to make contact with you people and still you just don't have a care in the world. Frightening indeed!

If you ask how mutch a visit costs and they actually answer you, expect them to charge dubble that and give the wrong medication. I sincerely hope thieves like them burn in hell.

Cape Exotic Animal Hospital situated in Durbanville is the best Veterinary clinic in Cape Town by far. We appeared on their doorsteps distraught with a bunny who was in a very bad way, Chris was crying and I was blabbing and in a bad shape too. Our beautiful angel had taken a turn for the worst all of a sudden 12 o clock the night before and on a Sunday Night that late when this happened, we rushed him to the emergency unit. We were told that Dr Bernice was the best for treating exotic and unusual animals like bunnies. I had seen her on the Espresso show and I knew that she had an excellent reputation. In fact everyone I knew sang her praises but to be honest I didn't have much hope as our boy couldn't move at all. Dr Bernice was excellent at dealing not only with our bun but also with us. He was admitted to ICU. We were both incredibly impressed with how down to earth and humble she was. She showed a huge sense of empathy, compassion and humanity. In fact everybody at the practice was extremely kind and loving towards our boy. They genuinely treated him with sooo much love, patience and kindness. We received phone call updates daily, emails and all our questions were answered. We were never promised any sense of false hope and everything was explained to us very honestly. Dr Bernice knew immediately what was wrong with him and she was able to treat him immediately. We did not have to explain that he is our child, best friend and loving family member as they treated him like absolute gold from the moment we walked in. She didn't know us or our bunny from a bar of soap so it was incredible to us how kind she was. The love and respect that the Cape Exotic Animal Hospital has for animals is apparent and resonates in everything that they do. You can see a mile off that it is so much more than just a job to them and they really go the extra mile. Regardless of what the outcome had been, in our case we were incredibly blessed to have had such a good one, but either way the manner in which he was treated and the lengths, they will go to for an animal is really astounding. They treat every single animal with individual special love and care that is beyond anything we have ever seen. Thank you to Dr Bernice van Huyssteen and all the staff at Cape Exotic Animal Hospital for saving our beautiful boy Columbus. We honestly can’t thank you enough. Please keep doing what you are doing and thank you for sharing your expertise, s****s, gift and talents with all the beautiful and special animals.
