I submitted a refund request form on the 17th of December 2024 at the CIDB offices in Durban. I found it odd to have to submit this document physically when I registered online. My suspiciouns were confirmed when as of today, the 10th of January 2024, my refund has still not been paid. Although not required as described on the form, I had to submit my ID and Company registration document after calling on 8th of January 2024 to check on when I will receive the refund. I basically had to give them information that was explicitly stated on the form that it was not required, this makes perfect sense since I submitted this information when I was registering the company with the CIDB, so they have this info. I now cannot reach anyone who can help me with this. I have comp**** with all of their requirements and simply not paying.

Very useless organization if ever there is one. They take money upfront then struggle to give you a service. Then they will not refund you unless you ask for it. Even then it's a struggle to just get hold of them.

I have paid CIDB R900 to register in their data base, all the banking details is theirs and money was paid to their bank account. Camille has been refusing to refund me, and she is saying she don't see any payment, even though I sent them the bank statement confirming.

CIDB is ripping customers off. I paid money for grading from CIDB level 1 to level 2-3 R2700 paid to CIDB and they say I ticked the wrong category on the form, I ticked the CE instead of the SQ therefore I forfeit the money I paid. I must fill a new form and make another payment. Why can't I fix the form and the same money paid allocated for upgrading. How are small companies expected to grow if CIDB is unfairly tipping them off? As it is CIDC is already having unfair standards of separating extremely many sections of CIDB EG. I do fencing , fencing can have a brick portion and steel portion with electric fence and have the foundation crossing water pipes in one project. This means I need a list of CIBDs 1 for brick laying 1 for plumbing 1 for fencing 1 for electrical Now when I grade I must only choose 1 CIBD SQ and not GB or GE or PE Or pay different fees for each of them. How will SMMEs grow having to pay so much money

Having a small business is already hard enough without CIDB making things even harder. My employer has, since March, applied for grades 3GB and 3CE, twice now the applications have been "rejected". This has been for different, immaterial reasons. But that's not even the worst part. In rejecting each application, we had to contact them to find this out, no communication, at all. Why are we required to pay for each application, why not tell a company what is missing if they qualify and have that submission done so we can continue?

I went to cidb and was treated unproffessionally by a Durban cidb employee who turned me back saying that steel work doesn't fall under CE when I'm an engineer and know that it does. Even the class of works on cidb form states that and I walked away not having upgraded because he just can. These things are important to us, they're our lively hood but to be treated like this is just so frustrating.

Always phone, don't get through service is ridiculous. Nobody gets back to you or gives you any feedback regarding your application
