I booked a cottage in Ponta Mamoli via Booking.com for the April 7th weekend. The price was listed in meticais — around 40,000 MZN (11,994 rands) — plus a 20,000 MZN deposit. To my surprise, they charged 63,400 MZN without explanation, using an inflated exchange rate (3.7 instead of 3.4). When refunding the deposit, they returned only 17,000 MZN, this time using an even worse rate (3.0 vs the actual 3.37). I provided proof, but they stopped replying. Using two different exchange rates — one to charge more, one to refund less — is unacceptable. This is not just about money. It’s about trust and ethics.

-Very poor communication (except to ask for money) -No directions to house (10A Makana) or a message to explain the house is a partial construction site or any information whatsoever -Quick response to complaints while we were there, but no support when we requested a partial refund for a home that is not worth the premium nightly rate it is charging -Took 2 weeks to forward me the owner's response to my requests. -Really unprofessional and unsupportive of guest, especially considering we have been Gobundu customers for 15 years and have referred numerous friends to them. Very disappointing

I had high hopes for my trip to Baleia Azul Luxury Tent No. 7, booked through Go Bundu, but unfortunately, circumstances beyond my control made it impossible to proceed with the vacation. As two female solo travelers, we were scheduled to travel through areas in Mozambique experiencing significant political instability and unrest. Our safety was our top priority, and arriving so soon after the civil unrest was simply not feasible. Despite the seriousness of the situation, both Baleia Azul Luxury Tent No. 7 and Go Bundu refused to provide a full refund, deducting 30% of our payment. This felt disheartening, especially as the political unrest and safety concerns were well-documented and entirely beyond our control. To make matters worse, the refund process took over a week, during which we were pressured to proceed with our travel plans despite ongoing reports of protests and evacuations. The transport company we booked with, by contrast, refunded us fully and immediately, acknowledging the gravity of the situation and the partial border closures. As someone who operates in the hospitality industry myself, I prioritize my guests’ safety and would never penalize them for unforeseen circumstances like these. It’s deeply disappointing that Baleia Azul Luxury Tent No. 7 and Go Bundu failed to show the same understanding. This experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth, and I will not be visiting their venue or Mozambique again. It’s unfortunate that such a promising vacation was overshadowed by a lack of empathy and professionalism.

We booked a trip in advance with gobundu to Mozambique . We paid 50% deposit. Due to the unrest and insecurity in Mozambique we want to cancel our trip. Go Bundu refuses to refund that money. They are are forcing me to take the risk and enter Mozambique with my family. Instead of the 30% cancelation fee. They are *****ing an additional 20%. Never would I use them again. I am seeking legal advice. And advise anyone not to use them.

We have just had a disappointing booking experience through GoBundu for a reservation made in Ponta Malongane. At the start of 2022, in the middle of January, we made a reservation enquiry through an agent, Linda (LM Travel) for a unit in the Mar-A-Zul complex in Ponta Malongane, Mozambique and where we were coerced into ‘hurriedly’ making a 50% deposit for a 6-day/5-night peak season period at the end of April (as she said that if we did not pay the deposit quickly, we would lose the booking dates). On the 1st March, we updated the agent that due to my mother becoming ill, we were no longer able to honor our reservation. Linda indicated for us to consider alternative dates or we would incur a 30% cancelation fee. I progressed the fact that no cancellation fee would be due as I had cancelled within 30-days of the booking dates (as per the wording on the invoice). Linda referred me to Lize (Cullinane) at GoBundu who updated me that they had received our deposit and had paid it across to the owners and once the ‘funds’ have been paid back to them by the owners, they would then pay me. This process took 3-weeks and when the deposit was finally paid, I was ‘short-paid’ R5,900. Upon enquiring of this, Lize went to lengths explaining to me that a 30% cancellation fee was applicable - with the wording on the invoice being ambiguous in this regard - and which she also recognized and even amended it in the email correspondence to me! I mentioned that had I known of this cancellation fee, I would’ve looked at an alternative booking date - to which she reverted back to me saying that I had declined this option - and which I would have definitely considered had I known I stood to lose R5 900! Through all of this, the final email was from Lize where she wrote “On behalf of GoBundu, we now consider this matter closed”. We have been going to Mozambique for over 20-years and sadly this is the first disappointing and sour experience through a booking agent. The lesson learnt is never to be coerced into hurriedly making a deposit and that with GoBundu, once a deposit is paid, should the reservation be cancelled - for whatever reason whatsoever - they WILL charge you a 30% cancellation fee. The customer and client service left lots to be desired! We shall still continue to holiday in Mozambique though.

We experienced an extremely distressing time trying to get a breakage refund back from their financial office (100dll), which we tried for two months to resolve directly with them. Since the main transaction (rent fee) was done though Airbnb, airbnb thankfully interceded for us and charged the gobundu host the deposit to refund us. This is not normal practice as transactions that are charged out of the platform (airbnb) are out of the scope for airbnb. We were also hit with 2 fraudulent transactions an hour after we shared our financial information with gobundu to get our deposit back, to the two specific cards we shared. After Airbnb customer service helped us resolved the deposit issue on their own, we are now getting harassed by the same gobundu agent because our bank charged them. We requested the agent and their Gobundu financial office to handle this matter directly with our bank and we are escalating this again with airbnb so this person stops messaging us through airbnb. This has been a highly unprofessional and distressing situation we have been dealing with for a couple months now. The Gobundu agent and financial office was/is not apologetic during any part of this experience or solved the initial discrepancy. Airbnb however was very apologetic and solved an issue they did not cause. If it wasn't for Airbnb we would still be trying to get this refund back plus dealing with the fraudulent transactions. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR THE PROPERTY MANAGER. SHE GOES BY LEONORA (in gobundu) AND CARLIN (on AirBNB).

I made different bookings through Safarinow at the same establishment in Mozambique and unfortunately due to Covid constraints had to cancel. The first booking a 25% handling fee was charged on the deposit paid and on the second 25% was charged on the total amount charged. How is it possible that 2 different service fees are being charged for the exact same thing?
