Besides having no choice but booking at Kedar due to other better accommodations being fully booked. The place is a massive disappointment. It should honestly be a straight up museum and not a lodge. The place is extremely dirty and very very very old. The bathrooms are dirty. The beds are dirty, there were old blood strains on the sheets. The thatch roof has a lot of big spiders and other insects that live in there which fall on the bed. The bed also has rat droppings. There was a giant centipede that made its way on the bed, it looked like it fell from the thatch above the bed and left a residue on the sheet. I was so disgusted by this place. It’s not for one who takes hygiene very seriously. Everything is old and smells old. The food quality at the restaurant as well as the service is extremely poor. I believe the lodge has its own target market but it’s not for those who expect a decent service and stay. They need to move with the time in terms of the room and service quality. Worst living experience ever. We stayed there for almost three weeks due to work reasons and it was daunting coming back to those rooms. I don’t know how a place like that operates.

I made a booking via Booking.com and opted to pay later on my arrival. I was just informed that my reservation was cancelled because another guest paid upfront in cash, which I find both unfair and discriminatory. Why have the option to pay later if you are going to prioritise upfront payments. And also the option is non-refundable, so the lodge would have got their money whether I showed up or not. As a result of this cancellation, I am now facing significant inconvenience. All nearby accommodations are fully booked, leaving me without options for the weekend. I made this booking with the assurance that my accommodation was secured, and this sudden change has left me in a difficult situation. You guys are horrible!

I visited Kedar Lodge for the first time(17 June 2024), expecting a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met. The food quality was subpar, and the fruit salad was rotten. To make matters worse, the food took over an hour to arrive, and when it did, it was ice-cold. When I brought my concerns to Manager Sarah's attention, she was uninterested in resolving the issue. Instead, she was adamant that we pay the bill in full, despite the poor food and service. Her attitude was dismissive and unprofessional, and she failed to offer any compensation. During our conversation, she made a personal and inappropriate comment, saying "I'm glad you're not married." This remark was unprofessional, unacceptable, and left me feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. Overall, my experience at Kedar Lodge was unsatisfactory, and I would not recommend it to others. The lack of concern for customer satisfaction, combined with the unprofessional behavior of the manager, makes it a place to avoid. Other than the historical significance of the venue and the wonderful display of the history of the SA war, and the friendly professional game ranger on the game drive, we are utterly disappointed by the lunch-time service of something as simple as a ham, cheese and tomato sandwich. Cold chips, one tiny slice of tomato and NO ham on the cold sandwich. No apologies. No replacement. After a long drive to get here, what a disappointing experience continuing to the buffet-style dinner serving raw supposed baked potatoes to mention but one. The worst tasting custard, dry, tasteless malva pudding was a real anti-climax! Have to say, the place would not see our group again. Such a shame for such a setting should live up to the supposed 4-star rating, especially taken into account the price.

We planned our vacation a long time ago. We planned a Christmas lunch in the same area of our vacation. We booked and paid in advance. We got there and everything was perfect. We got a drink at the door and we were taken through to our table. The people were friendly and the food was delicious. The service was good. We didn't have any reason to complain.

We planned our vacation a long time ago. We planned a Christmas lunch in the same area of our vacation. We booked and paid in advance. We got there and everything was perfect. We got a drink at the door and we were taken through to our table. The people were friendly and the food was delicious. The service was good. We didn't have any reason to complain.

The Kedar Country Lodge in Rustenburg service has tremendously regressed. The surroundings and gardens are unkept. The rooms are so dirty, dust gathered for days, spiderwebs all over, let alone the occasional snake coming into the room, and the monkeys running wild. Lighting to go to rooms are so bad, one cannot see the wild animals lurking in the bushes. The bathrooms in the rooms - uncleaned soapscum that has gathered over time, the showers are in a very bad condition - I could not even wash in it if I put shoes on my feet first! The furtniture is old and and bed's mattresses are worn out. The service in the restaurant is just bad, let alone the horrible food, I had a stomach run for days eating lunch there, and at the conference, the scones were older than my grandmother, they were rock hard, and the coffee is just water with colour in it, no taste at all. I used to stay there a lot few years ago and it was relatively good, but now my recent visit was a cultural shock actually the way everything regressed. Never again!

Absolute disaster. TV with no channels (reported it twice), the door did not close or lock properly. My wife was told there was no microwave to warm her flapjack. No butter on the tables, you have to ask 'because people waste' R70 for a glass of cheap wine. AC remote did not work. Showerhead did not work Gross waste of money. I will never go back, will never recommend the place. SIES! AGODA needs to remove this place from its website.
