we have been doing business with mail & Guardian and we had 3 publications that we had to publish with them on behalf of our client and we paid them in full, then our client cancelled the 3rd publication and we already paid mail & Gurdian in full. then mail & Gurdian went and published the 3rd insertion without our go ahead then when we ask for a refund the lady by the name of Elsie Mashanzhe & the guy named Bryan Khumalo are refusing to refund us and they are ignoring our communication despite all the efforts we have been trying to communicate with them, can someone please intervene in this matter because my Boss is deducting the Refund due from mail & Guardian which is R13800 out of my salary.

I have had a Amazon Kindle subscription to the Mail & Guardian for many years. Three March issues--13 20 and 27--have not downloaded to my Kindle. But the money is still debited from my account. Amazon tells me that the "publisher" (the M&G) is not uploading the issues. I have been told repeatedly via email (Douglas White) that they are having technical problems. One week I can understand but three? NO! M&G, get your act together!

After previously trying to sort out the matter telephonically, Douglas in accounts told me to e-mail my problem to him which I duly did on 27 January with a cc to Jabulile.

I have had no acknowledgement or reply since then.

Here is the e-mail dated 27 January.

On 12 December I subscribed to M&G online pdf issue and paid 324.95, your banking reference number BB5346. Six month subscription.

What happened then is that I got confused because I thought the online pdf issue was the same as just googling M&G and of course that doesn't work, and in sheer frustration I re-registered for another 6 month sub on 10 January and paid R324.95 again by credit card, your banking reference number BB6011. And then I got the pdf to work.

I phoned last week to reverse the second payment made on 10 January, a refund was promised but no refund ensued and now I can't see the original sub number on my online account. It seems to be have been erased from your records. There is just the second sub number 104871.

The first sub should still be running from 12 December, and the charge on 10 Jan for R324.95 for the second sub should be reimbursed to me. Kindly do so.

The Mail & Guardian is an excellent newspaper but it gives miserable service (!) to Kindle subscribers. I have had a Kindle sub for almost three years. Suddenly in December it does not download the 4 December issue. Amazon chat (also totally unhelpful) finally tells me that they did not receive it that week. It never showed up. The 10 December issue did come but the current issue has not. I tried the website link to subscriptions--does not work (!!). On the 21st I talked to someone in Subscriptions who took my cell number and said she would phone me back. Nothing. Later in the day I phoned the Jo'burg number and talked to someone else who said \they had many complaints about Kindle"--she also did not phone back. What is the use of a Kindle sub if it doesn't work and so I need to buy the print copy? Probably there is a new employee who doesn't know what they are supposed to do. M&G"

Our company, Allcare, took out an annual subscription to Mail & Guardian late last year. We have regretted this ever since. The delivery of newspapers has been most erratic and inconsistent. It is a miracle if we actually get a delivery two weeks in a row. We'd get the paper one week, and then nothing for the next 2 or 3 weeks. And when we call the call centre, the standard response usually is that they will \look into it". However"
