I am lodging this as a formal consumer complaint regarding a defective JVC television and the manner in which the authorised local importer, Nuworld Industries, has handled the matter. I purchased a new JVC television (Model LT-40NQ5165) via Takealot. The unit has a clear, repeatable fault: it powers on normally and then switches itself off automatically without any user input. This occurs intermittently but repeatedly, rendering the television unreliable and, at times, unusable. This is not normal behaviour for a new television and indicates an internal defect. The issue has been demonstrated on video and described consistently. Despite this, resolution has been unnecessarily delayed. My experience to date has been frustrating for the following reasons: I initially engaged the retailer, as required, but received no meaningful resolution. I then had to independently identify the authorised local importer for JVC, which was not clear or easily accessible to a consumer. Once engaged, the importer focused on internal administrative requirements rather than resolving the defect. I was repeatedly asked for a “job number” and later for a purchase invoice, despite the fact that the product is clearly identifiable as new and traceable by model and serial number. Responsibility for delays has been shifted between retailer and importer, leaving the consumer caught in the middle. As a consumer, I am not concerned with internal hand-offs between retailer and importer. I purchased a JVC product in good faith and expect it to function as such. A new television that switches itself off is not of acceptable quality and does not meet reasonable consumer expectations. I am not seeking anything unreasonable. I am seeking acknowledgment of the defect and a straightforward resolution in line with basic consumer rights—without further delays, deflection, or procedural obstacles. This complaint is lodged to place the matter on public record and to seek fair, prompt resolution.

In April 2025, I purchased a Telefunken 55" Full HD Smart Android TV from Takealot. Purchase details: Invoice Number: 202263320 Order Number: 178238515 Invoice Date: 25 April 2025 Amount Paid: R4,999.00 After the seven-day return period had passed, the TV developed a fault — horizontal white lines across the screen and a thin vertical line, making it defective and unusable. I reported this to Takealot, but instead of assisting further, I was instructed to deal directly with the supplier and warranty agents. From that point onward, Takealot removed itself entirely from the process, despite the purchase being made through their platform. I was referred to Powercare, who logged the issue on a NU World Field Repair Form with the following details: Make: Telefunken Model: TLEDDS-55FHD3 Serial Number: 004125X-100344 Fault Logged: Horizontal white lines and a thin vertical line Job number: 634898 RNR N***415 From August 2025 to January 2026, I repeatedly followed up with Powercare for updates. Communication was inconsistent, delayed, and unclear. I continuously asked whether emails had been received by the supplier, but I never received confirmations or meaningful progress updates. In January 2026, without any prior communication, Julipo Couriers arrived at my home to collect the TV. I later confirmed that the collection was booked by NU World Industries, which was also stated on the collection receipt. This collection was arranged without notice, explanation, or any guidance on what would happen next. After the TV was collected, no communication followed. Weeks passed with no updates. I then contacted NU World Industries directly. I was referred to customer care and instructed to send an email regarding the Takealot matter to tersia@nuworld.co.za, which I did, but I received no response. I was later informed that Tersia handles Takealot-related cases. Since then, I have made over 10 phone calls attempting to speak to her. Each time I was supposedly transferred, the call either dropped mid-ringing or ended while on hold. I never managed to speak to her, and no one else took responsibility for assisting me. As it stands: My TV has been collected I have no repair, no replacement, and no refund I have received no clear updates or timelines I have been passed between Takealot, Powercare, and NU World Industries with no accountability This has been an exhausting and frustrating experience, reflecting a complete breakdown in after-sales service, communication, and responsibility across all parties involved. We ordered a JVC 12,000 BTU unit from Takealot on 29 Nov 2025, the unit was received on 9 Dec 2025. An email was sent by Takealot on 8 Dec 2025, which included an online form which I completed to request delivery. A week later, after not receiving feedback, I resubmitted the form. An additional week later, still no feedback, I called the helpline and received an email address, which I emailed my installation request to. No feedback has been received to date, which is utterly disgusting. The unit has been sitting in the box, in my living room, for over a month because the designated service providers have not bothered to respond to any of my requests, what kind of a business does that? The warranty is negatively affected if we don't use these guys so we just have to sit back and stare at the box in this heat. I am not impressed at all

I bought a JVC TV from Best Home and Electric, and within 3 months it has failed twice with the exact same issue – the screen suddenly goes completely black. The first time, I returned it for repairs, and now the same problem has happened again. This is extremely disappointing for a brand that should deliver reliable quality. I am unhappy with the inconvenience, poor product performance, and the lack of long-term reliability. For the price, I expected much better. Nu-World Industries (Pty) Ltd, who distribute JVC in South Africa, need to take responsibility for these ongoing faults. I cannot recommend JVC TVs to anyone based on this experience.

Poor Quality and Lifespan of their Products. I bought a Telefunken 42" TV Model TLEDD-42FHDB from Game Greenstone in 2021 and the TV worked fine for at least 2 years 6 months before giving me technical difficulties which I sat with till Saturday 28th September 2024 where I took the TV with for Service and I was informed it's out of warrantee so I have to consult their supplier being Nu World Industries (PTY) LTD. I contacted their service centre and I was referred to their technician cannot assist because there are no parts. DO NOT BUY TELEFUNKEN PRODUCTS and or even avoid products manufactured by Nu World as seemingly their meant for a short lifespan so you keep on buying over and over again and there don't care about their customers.

I purchased a 14ltr water filter pot at Makro. I followed all instructions of soaking and rinsing the filters an assembled the unit (pretty straightforward). Filled it up in the eve and went to bed. In the morning, the bottom vessel contained little water, yet the top was empty. The kitchen floor was wet. The water did not go through the second 5-stage filter and overflowed instead between the top and bottom water tank. Such a simple product, yet it doesn't work. Now I have to drive back to Makro, fill in papers etc to get a credit. I did the diligent action of phoning Nu world industries to report the problem with their product. What is absolutely shocking is that the lady in customer complaints was not even remotely interested in my feedback.
