3 days ago I needed to call Std Bank, after being on hold for nearly 20 minutes I noticed on their website that they have a "Let us call you" option. Fantastic, my bank is so efficient, they call me back yipee. Except, they don't. I have requested this option 3 days in a row and still have not been contacted by Std Bank. In addition, they have a Compliments and Complaints section. I laid a complaint and guess what, absolute silence.
About 2 hours ago I made use of the call me back service offered on the Standard Bank website, still waiting.
I bought a brand new Suzuki Vitara 1.4 Turbo in July 2020. Last week I took the car in for it's 15000km service. The car comes with a 60000km service plan. To my horror the service consultant informed me that the turbo engined Vitara's need to be serviced every 10000km. After some discussion it was agreed that the dealership would perform the 10000km now but I would be charged for it and then I will take my car back in at 20000km and the service plan will kick in again. When I got home I decided to do some investigation. I looked at the service booklet and it states that Suzuki cars need to be serviced every 15000km, absolutely no mention that turbo engined cars need to be serviced every 10000km. I then decided to look at the brochure I downloaded off their website when I bought the car for any indication, again absolutely no mention of turbo engined cars need a service every 10000km. I lodged a complaint on there website stating the above and requested a refund. After ignoring me for 24 hours they send me an email stating what I already "now" know that turbo engined Vitaras need to be serviced every 10000km. The amount I paid for the service was relatively low but apparently it will seriously dent Suzuki Auto South Africa's net profit for the year.
It is impossible to get anything done on the MTN online shop. Nobody comes back to you despite getting an sms that an agent will contact you shortly. Been more than 2 weeks now and I'm still waiting. Absolute rubbish MTN.
I do not know how it is possible that STANLIB have any customers. I am trying my best to start a new unit trust investment with them but their stupidity is making it impossible. I do find this strange because I have been a Standard Bank customer for more than 30 years and find their service extremely good, hard to believe they are part of the same group. I see they have so many bad reviews I am not expecting any response from them, they would have to employ someone to just attend to the bad reviews.
As I live in Jhb I discovered their website and saw some nice airsoft pistols which I am keen on buying. The description is not always correct on the website so I queried some specs on 3 occasions in the last week or so. Did not receive one response. So before going ahead and purchase an airsoft gun I decided to check hellopeter first. Just as well I did, looks like they don't have a good reputation. I will be staying far away from these clowns. I spent 20 minutes on the website filling in the details. At the end I got various quotes from different companies and I selected Std Bank Insurance that I want to hear from because they were the cheapest. Per the website someone from Std Bank Insurance will now call me. All good so far. 10 minutes later I get a call from someone at HIPPO wanting confirming all of the info I have just INPUTTED on THEIR website, another 20 minutes. At the end he quotes me all over again. This time Std Bank Insurance does not even feature. A&G turn out to be the cheapest. He now asks me to hang on while I get transferred to a specialist for A&G. I hung up, not going to spend another 20 minutes. I don't get these guys, absolute waste of my time. I suppose I will now get hounded from insurance companies for the rest of my life.
Emailed them twice, they don't bother to answer. That's fine, I'll just use Outdoor & Velocity instead.
One usually gets carried away and is always quick to give bad reviews but now and again you come across fantastic service. It therefor gives me huge pleasure to highly recommend Martin from The Knife Guy. Not only is his service level one of the very best I've experienced, his prices on knives is a lot better than a certain knife shop in the Sandton area. After having purchased a few knives from The Knife Guy, I recently really tested his patience on the last knife I purchased. I was trying to decide on a particular knife but could not make up my mind between 3 knives. I eventually picked one but decided on the morning he was going to deliver that I preferred another one. No problem for Martin, he arranged that the correct one got promptly delivered. Upon receiving the knife I actually decided that I preferred another knife. Again no problem, I sent the knife back to him and he redelivered no questions asked. Thanks martin, I really wish all businesses in South Africa could operate the way you do.
I had a minor bumper bashing last Friday and on the weekend registered my claim online with a promise that Hollard would call me on Monday. Waited until 13:00 with no call from Hollard. I then decided to give them a call. After spending 10 minutes sending me from pillar to post I was kept on hold for another 5 minutes. Finally decided to give up. I'll get my broker to deal with Hollard's pathetic service, after all that is why I pay them. I changed to Hollard after being many years at Santam. Once this claim has been settled I'll be going back to Santam or maybe give Outsurance a try.
