Having been informed by our local hardware shops about the unavailability of replacement batteries for my Bosch drilling machine battery I came across Battery Experts on Google. I was impressed by their prompt response to my enquiry by requesting all the necessary details of what I was looking for and asking relevant technical questions. At that point I felt very comfortable dealing with them. My order was promptly executed and I received my battery pack withing 4 days. That is very good and rare online service!
I have been with Tiger Wheel & Tyre Devereux for about 25 years and the reason for me for stay with them for this long is their good customer service and attention to detail. Cuthbert and his crew are the stars of the show with their individual and undivided customer attention.
I tried 5 times from October 2025 to close one of my disused bank accounts by phone. Five times I was taken around so many bends with false promises and blatant lies and back to square one with zero resolution. In the mean time I was charged a monthly account management fee for the Bank failure to close this account. In desperation I went to the branch today (10/12/2025) where I was assisted within 15 minutes including queuing time. In 2025 and in my 51 years with the Bank it looks like the Bank’s phone-in facility is still far inefficient than the old fashioned but inconvenient branch walk-in. I am very dismayed by this bitter experience and I wish ad hope it will not repeat.
I have previously ordered items from eBay. Today I'm unistalling their app from my mobile because I shall NOT order from them again. They failed twice to honour their estimated delivery dates. Their tracking is never accurate and incomplete. When I raise a query in their app they referred me to their sellers who do not communicate. Eventually I was told the item had been delivered to my local Post Office and that I must collect before it is returned. Lack of communication and long delivery period is a deal breaker for me.
We moved in here in 1994 at the time when service delivery was at the acceptable level. Over the past 30 years service delivery has plummeted to a disastrous level; ever increasing potholes, burst water pipes, dirty streets, blocked stormer water drains, frequent power failures, incorrect billing and much more. The annoying thing is shear arrogance of the municipality officials who continuously ignore and deflect our complaints. A few years back water smart meters were installed and it is only now that I realize that we are still billed on the old non-existent mechanical meter. I wonder where they get these figures from. BCMM is in a mess!!
On 23/03/25 on my way from Empangeni to Durban I went to Astron Energy John Ross Highway for fuel and quick takeaway breakfast. I went into Freshstop to buy my usual favourite coffee I normally buy from other Freshstop outlets and a sandwich. I was told the coffee machine was broken and the the only thing they coukd offer me was a rooiboss sachet, hot water and milk. I was taken abackby this unpleasnt situation Which I have never exoerienced at any Freshstop. Even the mickey mouse broken machine was something that departs from the normal Freshstop cormmecial coffee machines. I bought a bacon and egg sandwich and a can of canned tea, went outside settled in my car to have a quick bite. When I opened the sandwich plastic packaging the sandwich had a funny smell but the first bite confirmed that the sandwich I was sold was rotten. I immediately spit everything out and dumped the whole thing into the ******* bin. I never bothered about asking for a R19.99 refund and drove off. This was my first horrible and life-threatening experience I have ever had. Freshstop management must take action to avoid food poisoning and remove ALL stale food from their shop. I shall definitely avoid buying any prepared food from this shop.
I like their professionalism and top-notch customer care. Previously they erroneously billed me for petrol refill but when I brought this error to their attention they didn't quibble and refunded the erroneous billing. I see they still provide complementary warm drinking water placed on top of their waiting room fridge. Please Woodford, provide us with cold drinking water for the Durban hot weather!!!
I bought a pre-owned Subaru Forester from Emond Auto in 2023 and I am impressed with their customer service. Once a year Sandile Ndlovu, the salesperson phones me to find out if I am still happy with the vehicle. This is unheard of, in the car industry; very impressive!
I ordered a plastic strainer from Makro but what I received did not fit the advertised description OR how I interpreted the description. I returned the item which was collected from my address by The Courier Guy. I have phoned Makro's call centre four times over two months about this issue (14/01/25, 24/01/25, 18/02/25 and 28/02/25). In all cases I am promised an investigation and report back and I am still waiting for the report back in 1,5 months. I do a lot of online shopping and I have never come across such ineptitude. I shall never again shop online at Makro
Last weekend (21.02/25) I booked accommodation for my family at Empangeni. My decision to choose this guesthouse was based on the high review score of 8.5. We were dismayed to discover that this high review does not match what we found, a guesthouse from hell; dirty and tired building fabric with limited facilities. I have been with Booking.com for a long time now and I NO LONGER trust these reviews. They are just meaningless and useless.😰
