Very Impressed with Spectacle Warehouse Hillfox. I recently got new spectacles at this branch. The frame was not right for my face. It didn't fit properly and caused my face to steam up in the heat. I went back to Spectacle Warehouse where I was assisted by Michael. He helped me to find a frame that suits my face and bridge shape. The lenses were remade to fit the new frame at no charge. I can honestly recommend this branch, and Michael really went out of his way to help me.

I am writing to formally express my utter most dissatisfaction with the service I received at your Hendrik Potgieter branch and to highlight a serious issue concerning the prescription provided for my recent glasses purchase. Despite my optometrist confirming that my eye test results indicated no change from my previous prescription, I purchased a new pair of glasses for the substantial amount of R5000. However, shortly after beginning to use them, I started experiencing headaches and difficulty focusing, which became increasingly uncomfortable. Upon switching back to my previous glasses, the symptoms subsided. When I returned to your branch to address this issue, I was informed that I would need to pay for another eye test, which I found unacceptable given that my optometrist had already confirmed no change in my prescription. I explicitly requested that your team compare the current glasses with the new pair to identify any differences, emphasizing the importance of resolving this matter without additional charges. To ensure the accuracy of my prescription, I decided to consult with another optical professional at Spec Savers. Their assessment confirmed that the prescription on the new glasses was not only different but weaker than it should have been, explaining the discomfort and headaches I experienced. This entire experience has been disappointing and frustrating, especially considering my longstanding loyalty to Spectacle Warehouse, having been a customer for over 8 years. The inconvenience, combined with the unnecessary additional expenditure of R5000, is unacceptable. I trust that you will investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate steps to address my concerns. I expect a suitable resolution, including a review of the prescriptions issued and compensation for the unnecessary expense incurred.

Excellent care and very affordable prices for people who want to ensure their glasses prescriptions are current at economical rates. All necessary tests done at a fraction of the price with stylish frames that don't break the bank.

Recently went to get my eyes checked for new glasses, at the Kenilworth-Claremont branch: did the doctor visit, had the tests done, doc sent through recommendations to the dispensing optician, and i opted to receive my detailed prescription as I did not see or find any frames that I liked, since then there has been no response from the lady, I have sent numerous emails and contact me messages with no win, I dont know how else to reach them as they’re were the ones that requested me to do business with them, I am disappointed at the after service l!

Spectacle Warehouse Faerie Glen Pretoria. Most appalling and shocking customer experience received from the branch manager. My entire family has been loyal clients of Spectacle Warehouse for years, and their service has always been top-notch. During my recent eye exam, I needed a new prescription. The staff was efficient and professional, helping me choose a new frame. Unfortunately, the frame I selected in-store had a defect: one arm hinge was not as tight as the other. (Even after the lab staff adjusted it, the issue persisted.) The staff assured me they would order a new frame with my prescription. I received the glasses, but on the day of collection, I mentioned that the frame still had the same problem. The front office staff explained that the frame was functional and optimally adjusted, and I should give it a try. If I wasn’t satisfied, I could return for an adjustment or replacement, subject to certain criteria. On December 18, 2024, I visited Spectacle Warehouse because I wasn’t comfortable with the frame. The front office staff listened to my complaint and offered a solution. Since this was the second frame with the same issue, I could choose a similar frame (within a specific price range and lens size) and they would fit the lenses into the new frame. The front office staff was very friendly, and one of them informed me that the branch manager wanted to discuss the matter with me in her office. I found this unusual because we had already made progress by selecting a frame from a different brand. After entering her office, she immediately declared that she had reviewed my file. However, due to numerous warranty claims on my previous prescription glasses (Under Armour) and all the warranty claims on this frame (Nike), they could not replace the frame at their expense. They had already incurred significant costs with my frames. Her tone was dismissive and disrespectful. I was speechless. How could she compare my previous frame warranty claim to this one? If Spectacle Warehouse suggested a warranty replacement, why should I argue? Yes, the Under Armour frame ear hook had come loose, and Spectacle Warehouse advised me that it would be replaced under warranty, which they did. However, they did not mention their costs or anything related to costs as this was warranty. When I confronted her about her statement regarding multiple claims on my previous glasses (of which I only had one), she admitted that she lacked the necessary details and would have to gather them. How could this be? She had just confirmed that she had reviewed my file, so I assumed she had all the facts. She kept bringing up previous claims and, at one point, mentioned a “credit” they had made on contact lenses for my daughter, who never had contacts. It became evident that the branch manager was out of her depth as she continued to make accusations about the money Spectacle Warehouse had to spend on my claims. The conversation escalated as I was deeply upset about the way she had spoken to me and the unfounded accusations she had made without any evidence. This was no longer about the issue with the Nike frame; it had become a matter of the branch manager being in a precarious position about accusing me of excessive claims and incurring financial losses for Spectacle Warehouse. I found her logic (or lack thereof) during the conversation appalling. After she realized she was in a difficult position, she briefly apologized and suggested calling the director. The conversation with the director was short-lived. He listened to my issue, took sides with the branch manager, offered a brief apology, and dismissed it due to the branch manager having a bad day and acknowledging that everyone makes mistakes. This was an utterly shocking experience. Although the loss of three long-standing clients is not a concern for Spectacle Warehouse, i felt compelled to share my harrowing experience on a public forum. #Nike #UnderArmour #SpectacleWarehouse

I had taken my son for a contact lense consultation and had a fitting done. Paid for this. I requested the results of this test ie the lense prescription. They refused to share this with me insisting on more consultations. This is fine and well and I would have brought him for another fit when able. My husband needed an idea of how much the lenses would cost as myself, my two other sons also wearing contacts. Ofcourse I can’t get comparative prices without his lense script. And also the test was done and paid for, the fit was done and paid for. These are separate. I demand the results of his lense script instead of being held hostage and being forced to FIRST come for more fits! I notice a trend of very pushy interactions at spectacle warehouse which is very annoying. Not everyone has large budgets for all those extras on spectacles for example. I’ve had great experiences with optometrist, Louise Van Niekerk is great. Unfortunately I will be taking my eye needs else where. I’ve send an email and waiting on a reply with the lense prescription which I’ve paid for!
