Go to Spur instead.
Long story short: Hussar grill is owned by Spur. Rather go to Spur. Long story long: I ordered Babylonstoren Babel wine which on their menu is advertised as rosé. I double checked on Babylonstoren website, it is in fact a red wine. Starters: dead average. Chorizo was nice but the calamari is cooked in the same sweet sauce. It’s a no-no combo. The mains: Yoh! This is where it really stared to go downhill for us. They have such a specific menu when it comes to how you like your meat, how pink it is etc. whatever you order please bare in mind it will come 2 times more raw. Eg, I ordered a medium/well done steak and it was medium rare. My partner ordered medium rare, it was blue (basically raw) Finally nearing the end of my wine, I saw creatures (alive and some dead) in my wine glass. Finally we called the manager. He gave us complimentary “double choc martinis”. Hahaha it was warmed up chocolate sauce in mini glasses. Shame he tried. All in all my partner said the best part of the whole meal was the mashed potatoes. I’d recommend going to spur and saving at least R100 per person for the same thing, i’d argue - even better than Hussar.

Extremely Disappointed Won’t Be Returning!!
We had our work year-end function at The Hussar Grill at Newmarket in Alberton, and the experience was extremely disappointing. We waited more than an hour just to receive our starters, and what was meant to be a simple three-course meal turned into a three-hour ordeal. When the food finally arrived, it was ice cold, tasteless, and served in very small portions. For a restaurant that prides itself on quality, this was unacceptable. The service was just as poor slow, disorganized, and nowhere near the standard one would expect. Overall, it was a frustrating and unpleasant experience. I will never return, whether for business or personal dining. Truly disappointing from start to finish.

I would like to commend the outstanding customer service we experienced at Hussar Grill New Market on 20 June 2025. From start to finish, our time there was truly refreshing, and it left a lasting impression. I will definitely be returning and have already started recommending this branch to others. A special thank you goes to Siyabonga, who served our table with a consistently friendly, attentive, and welcoming attitude throughout the many hours we spent there. His professionalism and warmth made our experience all the more enjoyable. I’d also like to recognise Nigel for his knowledgeable and engaging presentation on the different types of meat. He brought not only expertise but a fantastic personality to the table, adding depth to our dining experience. Well done to the entire team – you’ve set a high standard for excellent service!

Exceptional Dining Experience at Hussar in Alberton. Last night, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Hussar grill in Alberton , and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us like royalty. The warm welcome, attentive service, and impeccable hospitality made us feel special and valued. The food was outstanding, with each dish expertly prepared and presented. What truly set Hussar apart, however, was the exceptional service. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our every need was met. The manager Lebo even stopped by to chat and made us feel like valued guests. The ambiance was cozy and intimate, with a warm atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The attention to detail in the decor and music selection added to the overall experience. We can't wait to return to [Hussar and experience the magic again. If you're looking for a truly special dining experience, look no further. This restaurant is a must-visit especially on Tuesday dinner date.

Absolute GEM, Perfect for DateNight!!!!!!!
We had a such memorable dining experience at The Hussar Grill Newmarket yesterday. It’s hard to actually pinpoint which part was the best if we had to choose.The food was delicious, the decor looks amazing, the atmosphere is so cozy and warm and as you enter you are greeted with smiles and excitement. What truly made dining experience special was the outstanding service from our waiter, Simone. He was so attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations and ensuring we were comfortable at all times. Simone really setting the bar for outstanding service at this establishment, keep up the great work. Simone top-notch service took the experience to the next level.We highly recommend The Hussar Grill Newmarket to anyone looking for a great meal and exceptional service. 5 stars and above and is well deserved and we will definitely be visiting again soon.
