By Concept Cafe in Kloof Street Cape Town Received a Wikideals voucher for Spa and 2 course Dinner for 2 Made a booking 3 weeks before arrival. When we got there, there was no booking. We chose Dinner and Dessert. The meals that we chose came with no garnishing, not even a reject lettuce leaf. Just a piece of tough steak and a bit of chips that were old reheated and hard. We complained about the chips and a bowl of the exact same chips were literally dumped onto our table - no apology The manager seemed very uninterested in our complaints. The waitron's approach was even less enthusiastic Thought that we would have better luck with Dessert, no such thing. We only had a choice of Tiramasu and Nutella filled flap jacks - Wow the normal menu comes with 2 flap jacks, our voucher entitled us to only 1. Nutella really seemed to have sought a warmer place to go to as it was really missing from the flap jack. The portions for the voucher seemed to be a lot smaller nature than what is offered in the regular menu.... Is our money then not the same? Do we deserve less effort and food that those who "pay full price"? Very disappointing to say the least. We will definitely not be going back there. Please save your time and trouble and go somewhere else where you will enjoy the food and receive a warmer welcome.

Byconcept Café in Kloof Street has really terrible, unknowledgeable customer service staff! I bought a Wikideals voucher, lekker two courses for birthday celebrations, you know. I love a good deal! I studied the T&Cs, cos that's what I do, and it says that I need to call to make a booking. I call way in advance (which was a struggle every time cos apparently they have network issues) and the lady on the phone says I need to call on the day that I want to come. The day arrives and I call as soon as they open (again, a struggle - I wasted at least R50.00 on airtime) and I'm told I need to make a reservation via WhatsApp. I do that and they take forever to respond. They also don't respond to DMs on Facebook and Instagram. They finally respond, but then they say they don't do more than 4 (four) WikiDeals bookings on the weekend and they've already booked 4 people. This was NOT mentioned on the T&Cs. I studied it, remember? I also wasn't told this when I got through the first time. They know they're in the wrong cos AFTER our conversation, they post to their WhatsApp status this newly-created T&C (sarcasm) It was really difficult talking to these people as they had very little knowledge of the rules of the restaurant or the reasons for them. I mean, they weren't even communicating with each other. There was also never an authoritative person who I could talk to. Just in general, an extremely unprofessional service staff. I always preach the importance of supporting local, but I don't think these people deserve any support. They don't care about customers.

We bought a wiki deal voucher for this restaurant in Kloof Street, Cape Town. We received very poor service from management. The portions were so small for a R500+ dishes, and when we brought that to management attention, they asked us to leave. The food quality is questionable at best. Today was raining and winding, so they had to close all the doors, then there was smoke everywhere like they don't have vatilation in place. I would not recommend anyone to go there. For a place on Kloof Street, this is appalling!

I bought the R550 worth voucher which is a 2 course meal for 2. I ordered the ribs and chicken espatada for mains. The chicken is not an espatada, it is dry kebabs. The ribs were supposed to be 350g. I got two small peices that comprised of mostly fat and bone. When I complained the owner took me to the scale to with the ribs infront of me. The scale was dirty with crumbs and other food peices. They just took the meat and threw it on the dirty scale. It came to 280g which I did not mind as meat shrinks. Then returned it on my plate, with all those peices that were on the scale stuck on my meat. It was rude and unhygienic, and it felt like it was deliberately done. The ribs were mostly fat around a big bone and the cartilage like bone that comes with ribs. To top it off the plate is a main meal but only comes with 1 side which is 11 chips, yes I counted. The owner makes people buy bogus vouchers online with the promise of a decent meal. When the voucher is purchased they reduce the portions and quality of the food to save money, and when you complain you can not get your money back. The voucher said I have an option between 4 to 5 desserts. They only had stock of 2. We tried to order a milkshake, it was out of stock. We tried to order a strawberry daiquiri, it was out of stock. The restaurant has no ventilation and all the smoke from the grill circulates inside the restaurant, they open the door every now and then and the amount of smoke that escapes is crazy. I'm still bothered by how he put my meat on a filthy scale to prove the weight of the meat. And it still cane short. I started cutting up the meat in front of him to separate the fat from the bone. I asked him to look at the plate to show me where the meat was and he refused, even though he was standing in front of me. The place is a scam and a health risk. Unhygienic and rude. Your complaint will go unheard. And you will not get your money or an apology back. Save your money and go to a decent place.

I recently purchased a wikideals vouchers for lunch/dinner and as per voucher you require a booking prior to arriving to actually use the voucher. When trying to call I was immediately told they fully booked before asking what time I’d like to visit. When speaking to them on WhatsApp they were fully booked Saturday and Sunday without being aware what time I’d like to come once again. When I asked if I can walk in I was asked if I have a wikideals voucher , when I responded with NO, I was told I can get a table and for what time would I like to come . This is extremely disappointing and unprofessional. My original booking request has now been confirmed as they only award tables to customers without vouchers! SO WHY HAVE MULTIPLE VOUCHERS IF NOT GOING TO ACCEPT RESERVATIONS.

Worst restaurant experience ever! The waiter staff were unprofessional and inadequately trained. We had a bill of about R3500 and the waiter couldn't keep track of payments. Charged us almost R1000 over on the bill and refused to let us check. Only after heavy insisting to check did he allow us to do so which is when he discovered the R1000 extra. Refused to refund and was ridiculously rude to the point that his manager and fellow waiters had to tell him to be quiet and treat customers decently. He still received his 10% tip even though he forgot people's orders, brought food that wasn't ordered, couldn't remember to bring us sauces and cutlery after requested, brought extra burgers that wasn't ordered and is still reflecting on the bill (which was paid for but not consumed by the table) Honestly, I dont want to be a Karen but I do not recommend By Concept cafe. We had a birthday supper there and the night was completely ruined by the disrespect we received, by the poor service and truly average dishes that were served. Imagine ordering food and sitting there without it while everyone is eating because the waiter forgot to include it even though he had an entire A4 page with everyone's order. I understand human error and can look past the poor quality service and average food but don't con me out of my money by saying the balance of the bill is almost R1000 less than what was paid. Not fair and not right.
