Mullins I style @ South Gate mall has the far worse service I’ve ever received in my life. They will sound professional in store. The moment you work out. They forget about you. Took 2 full months before I got a call from them, and it was regarding confirmation of debit order while I have not even received my spectacle yet. I would not recommend them at all. Unprofessional and unreliable

The worst service I have ever received at Mellins i.style Cresta Mall. It's been way over a month and I haven't received my glasses because of the constant mess up's on their side and in the end I must suffer. I would recommend going somewhere else if you want to get your money’s worth. I cannot describe how pathetic their service is and as well as their communication.

The worst service I have ever received at Mellins i.style Cresta Mall. I have never experienced such atrocious service from an optician. Did my eye test in Dec 2026 pre-planning the wait for my spectacles to be made in Jan 2026. Today is the 27 Feb 2026 still no spectacles despite payment been deducted from my medical aid. Clearly the staff at Mellins Clearwater care about the patients or there jobs. The store has detioriorated since the change of staffing and absolutely no customer feedback is done. I have to call weekly to check when my glasses will be made. Trusting that this review will get me my spectacles in March 2026. Needless to say I will not be using the store again. Mellins you need to do better...eye sight is a necessity not a nice to have...very very disappointed.

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your Benmore Gardens branch in Johannesburg following the collection of my glasses. I have been a loyal Mellins customer for my entire life in Cape Town, and this is the first time I have encountered such issues. Unfortunately, my experience at the Johannesburg store has been disappointing and does not reflect the standard of service I have come to expect from Mellins. Initially, there was a delay in receiving my glasses due to ordering issues. Although this caused inconvenience, I chose not to raise a complaint at the time and allowed the matter to pass. However, further issues arose upon collection of my glasses. The frame I purchased is Dolce & Gabbana, yet I was provided with a case from a different brand. Having now left the store and used the case, I find it unattractive and unsuitable. It does not align with the premium brand of the frame and is embarrassing to carry and use in public. Additionally, the lens cleaning cloth provided is of poor quality. Instead of properly cleaning the lenses, it leaves smudges, which is extremely frustrating. I am now forced to carry an alternative cloth from home, and when I am outside, I am unable to clean my glasses when needed. As a result, I will need to purchase a suitable cloth from another service provider. This situation has left me with a case that does not match the brand of my glasses and accessories that do not meet acceptable quality standards. This level of service is disappointing and inconsistent with my long-standing experience as a Mellins customer. I am extremely unhappy with the service I received at this branch, and regrettably, it has caused me to reconsider returning in the future, despite my many years of loyalty to the Mellins brand.

Horrible experience with the head office department. Rude & unprofessional. They are in the business of ****ming people. They run promotions only for them to come and say you owe them money. Sisihle is the worst agent of them all. Please don't go there and buy; it's not worth your time.

I am writing this review to express my absolute frustration regarding the administration of my account and the inexcusable conduct of your collections department. The Facts: Despite the fact that I am a paying customer who manages their finances responsibly, I am being constantly harassed. My account due date is: End of April. My current payment status: I am paid in advance up to the end of February. The Issue: Your team appears to lack the capability to perform basic arithmetic or review a statement history before picking up the phone. I am receiving constant, harassing communication regarding arrears that do not exist. The Incident: During my most recent communication with your department to resolve this error, I was met with shocking arrogance rather than assistance. When I realized the consultant was unable (or unwilling) to understand the simple fact that the account is in credit, I requested to be transferred to a supervisor. The consultant refused to transfer me. Legal & Regulatory Violations: Please be advised that your current conduct is not only bad customer service; it is in violation of South African consumer rights regulations: Consumer Protection Act (CPA) – Section 40 (Unconscionable Conduct): It is unconscionable to use physical force, coercion, undue influence, pressure, duress, or harassment, unfair tactics, or any other similar conduct, in connection with the demand for, or collection of, payment for goods or services. Harassing a client who is paid in advance constitutes undue pressure and harassment. National Credit Act (NCA) – Prohibited Collection Practices: Attempting to collect on a debt that is not due (or has already been paid) is a violation of fair debt collection practices. Right to Fair and Responsible Marketing/Service: By refusing to escalate my query to a supervisor when a dispute arose, your agent denied me the right to fair administrative justice and proper dispute resolution. My Demand: Update your records immediately to reflect that my account is paid in advance. Stop the harassment and phone calls immediately. I require a formal apology regarding the conduct of the consultant who refused to escalate my call. If this harassment continues, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter to the National Consumer Commission (NCC) and the Ombudsman for Consumer Goods and Services. Fix your system and train your staff.

I have never ever experienced anything in my life like this before. We got to our appointment at 9. Waited for their admin to be done and by 9.35 still no help. Then my husband forced to go to be on time for work, left and the optometrist was rude and got upset. When I asked her why she was upset she said an appointment is 45 minutes. How she would have finished is beyond me so my husband left. We returned and got helped. I signed 2 quotes because they put hard coating on which I did not want. So new quote was done. Still H/O calling me to pay R1950 when my glasses haven't even been made. And they keep calling and threatening to hand me over. I asked for them to cancel my glasses cos this is by far the worst service ever. I was told I have to pay R500 if I wanna cancel, it's for the eye test. Then today was just the cherry on the cake when I was told they refuse to cancel my glasses. How I can pay for a service when I didn't even receive the goods. Again the threaten me. And refuse to listen when I speak. And more threatening. So I cut the call. I hope Mellins h/o reads these reviews so they can do something about it. But at this stage I believe they are the problem.
