I’ve been coming to this restaurant since it first opened—well before I even got married, and I’ll be celebrating eight years of marriage this year. That should speak to the level of loyalty and support we’ve had for this place over the years. But what happened on Wednesday was, without a doubt, the worst service I’ve ever experienced there. My family and I walked in and were completely ignored, despite the restaurant being nearly empty — only one other table was occupied. When someone finally acknowledged us, we asked to be seated at a table that needed cleaning. The waiter came over and wiped it down with a cloth so wet it left puddles behind. My husband had to call someone else to dry it properly. Her response? “Sorry about this, maybe she was in a rush.” Not exactly reassuring. Despite the poor service, the food was, as always, fantastic. My son didn’t finish his flapjacks, and I still had some of my tramezzini left. We asked for takeaway containers when we got the bill, and the waitress offered to pack it up for us. That turned out to be a huge mistake. Later that evening, my 4-year-old asked for his flapjacks — only to discover they had been tossed into the same box as my tramezzini. Everything was mixed together. The syrup, the onions, the cheese — all in one soggy mess. My son cried for nearly an hour because his favorite treat now tasted like onions. I’m genuinely shocked that someone working with food thought this was acceptable. After years of being a loyal customer, I left feeling completely let down. It’s so disappointing to see a place you once loved fall so far in terms of care and attention.

Honestly the worst dining experience ever. The decor is beautiful, but that is how far it goes. The food and service was beyond pathetic. We were a group of 18 and the only people in the place, but for some reason the waiters did not understand the menu and werent aware of what the meal looked like. Food was sent back several times either due to being underdone or incomplete. Some of the guests were served their mains while the other waited a further 30-40 minutes for theirs. The management is non existent as nobody came to apologise. Honestly only a matter of time until this place closes down. Save yourself and dont visit this place.

i am always super keen on trying great new halaal places as they are so far and inbetween.

This was recommended by a friend, so few of my girlfriends and myself decided to try it out for dinner lastnight.

reservation was set for 6pm. Everyone arrived on time.

As we were seated there were bottled water on the table with glasses, very nice setup.

however our food arrived more than an hour later only for the steak (which was the size of my palm priced at R130.00) to be tasteless as well as the mushroom sauce, the fries tasted like it was fried in old oil, i requested my steak medium to welldone and received steak that was rare to well done (needless to say i lost my appetite) our waiter was busy behind the bar/kitchen preparing drinks or whatever and only came to us 10mins after we got his attention.

I then thought let me try desert perhaps ill have a better experience, i ordered a banana waffle (very pretty presented) only for the waffle batter/dough to be raw and looked like rubber.

now besides the fact that we were 7 girls having dinner id expect a waiter to be on hand since they were not busy AT ALL there was one couple aside from us in the restuarant yet we waited more than an hour for our food and one of us received her food after everyone was almost done eating.

After we finally got the waiters attention cause we were just about done with this place it took them 40mins to sort out our bill. which we then discovered they charged us R153.00 for the bottled water on the table and R128 and some odd cents for the gratitude.

now im sorry but if you do not make me aware that the bottled water on the table is not complimentary and that i will then be charged for it, where is the choice in deciding if i want to spend R153.00 ON WATER or i actually want a better choice of beverage for that value.

wasted 3 and half hours with overpriced, tasteless / raw food and deseert.

definately never going back there again.

Pearl S**** Belvedere Road - my wife ordered a chicken wrap and got a wrap with a few thin strips of chicken and a hell if a lot if greenery (see image attached). Couple next to us found a fly in their milk shakes. Bad food and highly overpriced - cheese & tomato sandwich - R75.00. Can get Nandos burger meal for less.

Pearl S**** in Obz is a pretty looking restaurant that serves pretty looking food , but the service is not good at all. First of all a reservation was made for a big group a day in advance. Secondly, a few people that ordered medium steaks, got served well done steaks- one- two hours later after ordering might I add. Although my steak did arrive meduim SECOND time around and the waiter was sorry-even though it wasnt his fault. One person waited for her chips and onion rings to arrive with her meal- It NEVER did. Free drinks were promised for the long wait-that NEVER arrived either. Another persons food arrived after everyone had eaten already and was ready to leave. Water was ordered by two people just after arrival which was after 7pm, the water was brought just before 10pm. The weight of the steak in grams is not given on the menu, when the food arrived most people thought the size of the steak was a prank-but it was not! Two people left straight after their meal to buy food else where, because the food was too little. Mushroom sauce was tasteless. When restaurants charge premium prices for food, top quality service and top quality food must be prsented-if not people leave with a bitter taste in their mouth, which is exactly what happened. When I complained, the waiter responded with "you guys came late", yes so half the people did arrive late, but the restaurant would have basically been empty had we not have been there which in my opinion is a poor excuse for ****py service and all the mistakes on their behalf. Besides that, people that were early and ordered first, got their food last in any case. Afterwards the waiter did apologise but after basically asking him too and I had to tell him to apologise to the lady that made the reservation-which he never did, because I asked her if he did and she said no. It was one of those experiences where alot of us regreted spending our money there and probably will not return.

I frequently go to this restaurant because I quite enjoy their food. However, on the 19 January my husband and i went for breakfast and it cost us over R200. I paid with my card and the amount was taken off immediately. Two days later i got another sms with the exact amount debited from my account from Pearl Spoon. I phoned my bank to ensure that it did indeed go off twice. They confirmed that it did. I then phoned Pearl Spoon, as advised from my bank. I have been phoning them every week at least once or twice and they keep telling me the same thing. They say they are still verifying with their bank whether they did get payment from me twice. Until today, not one of the owners contacted me and this is really upsetting me. If they do not want to give the money back then they should just say so instead I must waste my time, effort and airtime phoning them! I am now fed up and vow never to go back there ever again!
