I would like to warn other tenants and owners about my experience with Boardwalk Estates, who have ********ly withheld my rental deposit after my lease ended on 31 January 2025 despite proper notice and attempts to follow the correct exit procedures. According to the Rental Housing Act, a deposit must be refunded within 21 days after termination of the lease, yet this was not honored. I escalated the matter to the Rental Housing Tribunal and a settlement agreement was reached requiring them to refund the deposit together with accrued interest; however, despite this formal agreement, they have still refused to refund me. Based on this experience, I strongly caution other tenants to be extremely careful when dealing with Boardwalk Estates and to ensure that all communication and documentation are properly recorded

I am warning other consumers about my extremely disappointing experience with Megashift after discovering that my clothing, printer, and kitchen items went missing while in the company’s possession during a three-week delayed delivery to a storage facility. When unpacking, I found empty hangers inside the boxes, clearly indicating that items were removed from within the packaging. Several boxes were also received water-damaged and not properly sealed, indicating poor handling and storage of my belongings. Despite reporting the issue and requesting urgent assistance, Megashift is refusing to refund, citing a policy that requires customers to report ****** goods within seven days, which is highly impractical and unreasonable, as unpacking a full household especially while working during the week cannot realistically be completed within that timeframe. This lack of accountability is unacceptable, and I strongly caution others against using Megashift’s services.
I strongly advise against using Spar retail shops to renew your vehicle license discs. The administration fees they charge are outrageous. I was billed R2,200 by NaTIS for the renewal of three cars but Spar wanted to charge me R3,200 for the same service. That’s an extra R1,000 just for admin fees and VAT! It’s simply not justifiable. Think twice before renewing your license through Spar you’ll end up paying far more than necessary.
I have been incorrectly flagged by Vodacom as a non-payer after my modem contract ended, despite informing them that I would not be renewing. This is now negatively affecting my credit score. I have made several attempts to contact Vodacom for assistance but have received no support. I strongly advise against taking a contract with them.
I moved out of one of the property that Boardwalk estate was managing in January 2024. Upon vacating the premises I agreed to paint certain areas of the house that were damaged. I then emailed pictures to Katy so that Boardwalk could start processing my deposit. I was then informed that i needed to go the rental tribunal as the owner is refusing with the deposit. I attended the rental tribunal case on 23 July 24 and the judgment was in my favor. Boardwalk then agreed to refund my deposit before 2 Aug 24. However, till today i am still being denied my deposit. I also went to their offices to try and understand the reasons behind the delays. However, Katy was so rude amd unprofessional. She believed that the paint job was below standard and not of a high standard even though she never went to the property. This clearly showed there was never any intention to pay back the deposit. Patricia is even worss, he stories changes everyday when you call her. It is alleged that Boardwalk estate never puts deposit into an interest bearing account. This means the deposit get used immediately when one pays.
I have been calling customer services to assist in amending information on my funeral cover and vehicle insurance. They are sending me from pillar to post without any assistance. Names we incorrecrly captured by the branch on the funeral cover. On the vehicle insurance i want to update the risk address. I am trying to be responsible so that my claims do not get rejected in future but this seems to be an impossible mission to achieve.
I made a loan settlement around Feb 2023. I have been trying to call customer to email the settlement letter and I am being sent from pillar to post. I called more than five times this week, I was told the settlement letter was emailed which is incorrect. I have also sent numerous emails with no response.
We app**** for a homeloan purchasing vacant land as an individuals. Standard Bank approved the loan but we then decided to apply under a company. The bank did not approve the loan citing inconsistency in paying other debts. The inconsistency was during COVID-19 when our income was interrupted and those accounts were later paid off and closed by Feb 2023. Some debts repayments are up to date but we still got rejected. Surety for the company is given by the same individuals/directors who app**** for the loan and were approved using the same documents(I.e payslip, 3 months bank statements etc). Why is Standard Bank not approving the home loan when applying using the company? T same documents were used for individual applications and the loan was approved? Does this mean Standard Bank is ************** against small businesses that wants to acquire land?
I have been with Discovery Insurance since 2016 and I just received an email stating that my premium has increased to R2 200. This is equivalent to the amount I used to pay in 2016. I have been a loyal customer for far too long to be taken advantage of. Discovery Insure please cancel my insurance as per the email I sent. I tried to call three times and your consultants drop my calls prior to completing the cancelation process. I was not provided valid reasons for such an increase on a car that has depreciated.
