I’ve generally chosen to walk away quietly from poor service instead of leaving negative feedback, believing it’s often more constructive to switch providers than to criticize. That said, my recent experience with Bosch Siemens Home Appliances has compelled me to break that silence. I’ve long admired Bosch—from their appliances to their power tools—as a brand offering high-quality products at fair prices. I own several Bosch items that I use daily. This review is not about product quality. It's about the after-sales support—or lack thereof. Here’s what happened: I purchased a Bosch dishwasher from Makro on 29 January 2025. Just five months later, on 30 June, it failed and displayed an error code. I contacted the call centre, and while their agents were courteous and professional, no repair has been carried out to date. A technician reached out via WhatsApp on 2 July requesting more details, which I promptly provided. Since then, I’ve made three further calls—each time reassured, but still without action. The technician has stopped responding, and I’m at a complete loss on how to proceed. This unit is installed in a rental property, and we've already refunded part of the rental to make up for the inconvenience. The impact is more than just lost time—it’s a financial loss, with the prospect of more to come. 🔍 Why this review matters: I regularly see negative reviews and often feel sympathy for companies being unfairly targeted. But this issue reflects a deeper structural flaw in Bosch's local service infrastructure. Brands must ensure that warranties are realistically supported in regions where service networks are underdeveloped. Waiting indefinitely for repairs shouldn't be part of the ownership experience. If you're considering Bosch products, I urge you to factor in the after-sales support. When purchasing, ask for specifics on who handles repairs, what their track record is, and how long you might wait should something go wrong. This isn’t a condemnation of Bosch products—it’s a cautionary tale about what happens when great brands fail to back up their offerings with timely support.
Zander le Grange from the Nelspruit branch of ACDC is a phenomenal sales person. I have been lucky enough to be assisted by him on several occasions and have been surprised by his extensive product knowledge, great listening skills and the creative problem solving abilities. Zander has even gone out of his way to make sure I received items after hours when I wasn't able to make it on time to pick them up. I don't shop around, I prefer dealing with people like Zander who are committed to their work and deliver on their promises. You will be hard pressed to find retail workers of Zander's calibre in the Lowveld. I have referred other people to Zander for all their electrical needs, and every single one of them agrees with me, that he is great. I hope that his dedication and hard work aren't in vain and that he is recognised by his company and colleagues accordingly.
Janie Kilian is a fantastic employee. I know that when I call her she will be super friendly, professional and will always deliver without any excuses or delays. She is a true asset to the community and I hope that she is recognized for her great work.
I would like to recognize Sphiwe, who is a cashier at Komatipoort Superspar. She is the friendliest, most pleasant lady I have ever met. I make sure I go to her when I am ready to check out my items as she just makes the whole experience a more pleasant one. She is the kind of cashier that should be behind every till. She is a true asset to the Komatipoort area.
The team at Awesome Tools have made my day. I had a warranty claim that they sorted out for me. I was very impressed with the way that they went about sorting it out for me. Their communication was great and I was more than impressed with the end result. To Gavin, Angelique and all the other people who went out of their way to expedite my query, I would just like to say thank you. Dealing with organizations like yours and people like you is such a welcome contrast to what consumers have sadly come to expect from proprietors. Keep up the great work. On a side note, the brands that they represent are all really top notch. I am glad to know that there are reliable and competent people who can assist with accruing such fine, high quality tools and instruments. They are a "TOP NOTCH" company for sure.
Bernadette and her team at the Malelane branch are phenomenal. I have been using their services for several years and can honestly say, that they really go out of their way to make every interaction a pleasant experience. They are super organized, super friendly and provide such a valuable service to the community. I can highly recommend them. They are a true asset to the Malelane community.
What an amazing experience to shop at Chamberlains in Silver Lakes Pretoria. Not only do they have absolutely everything that I needed, but there was an army of salespeople who were all very knowledgeable and super friendly, there to assist me. From the security personnel at the entrance to the cashier, it was a seamless and pleasant experience. Their range of items is just mind-blowing. The hardware chains in the Lowveld area where I stay have a lot to learn from Chamberlains.
I would like to recognize Ben Stander from the Komatipoort Midas for the assistance that he provided me with. Ben went out of his way to help me sort out a problem with my car that the mechanics at ACD wouldn’t even look at. He took his time, and after searching and walking back and forth between his counter and my car in the parking lot he eventually fixed it for me. He could have very easily told me to go elsewhere but he took the time to help me. Added to this, it was very close to closing time and he still went out of his way for me. I have yet to come across sales people of this calibre in Komatipoort. He has made a huge impression on me and I hope that his managers recognize him for this. Thank you Ben for being so helpful. You are a huge asset to your organization.
Anel form the Local Choice Pharmacy in Komatipoort is a fantastic, helpful, professional and an all round great person. She has helped me numerous times and each time she goes well out of her way to make sure I am sorted. I am very relieved to have someone of her caliber working in my local pharmacy.
