We are harassed by insurance companies to cover our lives just so they can pocket the money and let us down during the time you need this cover. I have life policies with Bright Rock since 2016. I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer by medical doctors from a prestigious oncology department. Devastated as I was, I contacted my insurer to assist with the multiple costs which I had been told of, along with attempting to grasp, understanding of this life threating disease which I was diagnosed with. They declined my claim on the bases that they diagnosed my cancer as stage 2. I am now taking on this journey alone without any financial assistance from Bright Rock. Please don’t be fooled when they say they cover dreaded disease.

****MERS! To whom it may concern. Nightmares! Since 2024 I'm not sure what to expect from the Insurance company Brightrock... My broker's information to me,was as follow, Brightrock Life insurance is the best option and I believe her and made the worst decision of my entire life and cancel my Assupol life insurance. I claimed in 2024 for my Bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and this claim was rejected. No grounds even mentioned! I have been diagnosed with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. An Audiogram performed in 2024 shows severe hearing loss in both ears. My Doctor confirmed that the loss is permanent . My hearing loss is progressive and I'm currently managed with hearing aids. This affect my ability to hear conversation in noisy environments, but it even became seriously/unpleasant due to hearing loss in both ears, but I have adapted thought lip reading and using devices. The reason that I enquired again after a year,is that it affects my work as Admission Clerk. The hearing is worsens over time. I'm not sure how to explain the issue with my hearing. It is difficult to understand speech especially in noisy settings, and needing to turn up the volume on devices. I've been having more trouble hearing lately. My hearing loss has gotten worse, and it's starting to affect how well I can understand conversation.I need people to repeat themselves more often or speak louder. This is frustrating me time to time. My medical aid didn't cover the full amount at that time. I was liable for the difference and they only pay every 3 years for new devices. My advisor never informed me to say I must be completely deaf to claim. I never receive any formal written response and reasons for claim rejected. I even inform my broker Ms Isabella Roger and she told me if I prefer to cancel policy I would not be cover for my hearing at any other Life Insurance. I'm not sure how to react and what to do in this case regarding my hearing loss. I even sign my policy over to different broker after the poor service I received from my previous broker and Brightrock. I'm covered for Disability, but it's seems Brightrock ****med me to cancel my previous policy to join them! Poor service. My ADVICE, please do not insure your life at Brightrock. Stay away! Kind Regards Jacobus de Ridder

In 2021 I submitted a claim for Covid on my Income Protector.I have a 7 day waiting period. Brightrock backdated the waiting period and paid for 10 days. In 2025 I submitted another Covid Claim. This time Brightrock did not backdate the waiting period and paid 2 days. Brightrock claimed that during the Covid Pandemic a special concession was made regarding the waiting periods. In the email received in 2021 nothing was mentioned regarding this special concession. After the Pandemic no email was sent informing me that any concession on my Income Protector was revoked. I am very unhappy with the fact that BrightRock can make any policy change without informing me in advance.

Due to unforseen cirmcumstances I fell behind on premium payments, i received a letter with a due date and amount, I made full payment on the due date, thereafter Brightrock still took a premium the following month and then 4 days later cancelled my policy. They now refuse to reinstate without medical underwritng even after staff informed me the policy had been cancelled by accident. I met their requirements but they don't stick to their word or procedures. Terrible service.

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of response regarding my policy enquiry with BrightRock. I first requested assistance in September 2024 to extend the age limit on my policy, and despite several follow-ups, I have received no feedback. I have also made multiple attempts to contact Bradley, the advisor assigned to me, but he has been completely unresponsive. This level of service is unacceptable, especially for something as important as a policy adjustment. I kindly request that this matter be escalated to someone who is willing and capable of assisting me. I expect prompt action and clear communication moving forward. BrightRock, please address this issue urgently.

I have an income protection insurance policy with BrightRock and I am trying to claim for the first time in over 8 years, I couldn't work for 5 months because of cataracts & had both my eyes operated, but it seems like they are looking for every excuse in the book not to pay me out! They refuse to accept my 3 months bank statements they requested as proof of income, now they want an ITA34 form thst I can not seem to get as the bookkeeper is already on holiday, but I don't understand what my VAT / TAX has to do with them? They don't beg me for my payments every month, why should I beg them for money they are supposed to pay me for a legit claim, as they receives ALL the proof they needed for my claim!!
