Vodacom Insurance has to be one of the biggest ****s I’ve encountered. In October 2024, my grandmother took out two contracts in her name and gifted us two brand-new iPhones. At the time of sale, we were assured that the insurance was “comprehensive” and that, should anything happen, the device would be replaced with a new phone. Funny how none of the fine print is mentioned when the sale is being made. Fast forward to actually needing to claim after a very traumatising armed *******, and suddenly the story changes. Now we’re told that my ****** brand-new iPhone will only be replaced with a “pre-owned” device, and that we still need to pay an excess fee that is completely unreasonable. How this qualifies as “comprehensive” insurance is beyond me. We currently have two Vodacom contracts, paying close to R2,000 per month, yet the service received during the claim process has been shocking. Calls were not returned, we were constantly passed around, and there was a complete lack of professionalism or empathy—especially considering the circumstances. To make matters worse, we’re now being told that iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models are only available as pre-owned, as there is supposedly no stock of new devices at all. That is not what we signed up for or paid for. This experience has been deeply frustrating and disappointing. Being ****** is bad enough—having to fight with your insurer afterwards just adds insult to injury. I will not be upgrading or renewing any contracts with Vodacom once the term ends. I want clear answers and a fair solution, urgently. This level of service and misleading sales practices are unacceptable.
Dear Bootleggers Team, On Monday, my two colleagues and I visited the Kenilworth branch and purchased three slices of chocolate cake — something we’ve done many times before, as Bootleggers is usually our go-to for quality and consistency. Unfortunately, this time was quite the opposite. After returning to the office, we discovered that all three slices tasted noticeably stale, dry, and hard — certainly not the standard we’ve come to expect (especially at R67 per slice). We couldn’t even finish them and ended up throwing most away, which felt rather wasteful considering that, for that price, we could almost have purchased an entire cake elsewhere. We called and spoke to the manager, Mr. Van der Merwe, who was polite and assured us that once the new cake arrived on Wednesday, he would call to let us know we could collect fresh slices as an apology for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, Wednesday came and went without a single call or update. To make matters worse, when we followed up, we were told that only two slices could be replaced, even though three stale slices were purchased from the same cake. That logic was… interesting, to say the least. It’s quite disappointing, as Bootleggers has always been known for great quality and service. Sadly, this experience didn’t reflect either. My family and I decided to try the "New Hype" for these chicken strips that everyone was promoting on social media. And WOW, what a great disappointment it was, AGAIN. Whenever we order online, items are missing, or something is not right with our order, specifically KFC Grandwest. Last night we ordered the Strips Feast Deluxe, consisting of 6 Original Recipe Chicken Strips with 2 Colonel Dips with option to swap to; Hot & Spicy; new BBQ, or Buffalo dips. Bundle includes 5 Original Recipe Chicken Pieces and 1 Large Chips. And added to our order for our one-year-old - chicken pops and chips (WHICH WAS NEVER RECEIVED). No dips received (x2) – H&S and BBQ. The Chicken Pops and Chips meal (clearly reflected on the order slip attached) was not received at all. Only 5 chicken strips were provided, and we were supposed to receive 6, which were overcooked, hard, and barely edible (pictures attached). The strips were thrown in the trash. After complaining online, they requested ME to call them as they require more information??!! This was beyond me. The service and food quality was disgusting. Only the chicken we had was okay as we had to give the chips to our son as he never received his meal. KFC DO BETTER - You thrive on how great your food taste and how your service is great when it is actually NOT. You have influencers showing off your brand and boasting about you when I have seen so many normal customers post BAD reviews for this new strips. Please give us the same quality of food you are giving the influencers as this is our HARD EARNED MONEY.
In August we ordered online only for us to end up fetching our own food and paying R35 delivery fee, with our 3 month old baby and older son in the cold at 9pm!!! The manager was standing on her phone unbothered and wasn't even friendly! We tried calling the store 7 times that evening and they don't even answer. The store had no customers inside when we arrived. The manager was standing at the front desk with a phone? 26th September we ordered online again thinking it would go a bit better, but WOW an hour later an agent called stating she tried calling the store but they were not answering AGAIN, i told her I'm not surprised as they never answer phones at the store. She then advised she's going to cancel the order as they didn't even acknowledge the order or anything at that point. She said she will process a refund and I'm still waiting? I emailed them and they asked the details and yet nobody got back to me as yet? This has to be some sort of joke. This was my last supporting McDonald's and their ****ty service we have to received when we at least buy 4 times a month. I'd rather support businesses who take their customers seriously!!!
My area had an outage yesterday, upon chatting via their Whatsapp line with their not so friendly consultants, they kept saying they have escalated my case/matter to Octotel, however if I did not call this morning I would have still been waiting for feedback. I called Octotel and they can only get a damn technician in tomorrow at 9.30am ??? Seriously again wifi for almost 3 days, I am fumed as I am working from home and now I am stuck as I cannot do anything and have my boss breathing down my neck. WHERE IS THE URGENCY??? PATHETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. They never inform you, you always have to follow up with them when they are the ones supposedly providing "customer service". Their boss Gian is giving away free data, but cannot even have his staff manage current customers expectations. This is not the first time. The last time I was without Wifi for 3 days and now the same damn thing again !! I cannot wait to cancel this Wifi as I cannot pay for a service I am not getting, they increase Wifi every 6 months but cannot even deal with urgent queries like this.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER CAME ACROSS. I have cancelled within my 7 day notice period as my internet never picked up since the day I received my wifi router. I then have been debited every month and paying for a service I do not even use. I had to call more than 10 times just to have the device collected again and for my refund request. There is no urgency whatsoever. They do not care at all. The device is still laying here and I am still being billed. This is absolutely ridiculous. They said management would contact me and guess what? They still haven't done so. TALK ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. All I want is for the device to be returned and my monies refunded and this is SO hard for them. I have made over 20 calls to get this sorted and all they do is " follow-up " . I am utterly disgusted in your service and lies you deliver !!!!! I do not mind turnaround times as I know there are certain policies and procedures but I have been waiting since Feb and we in July already ? WOOOOW ... Such an amazing experience hey !
Not the first time Archive N1 City disappoints me and literally knows nothing about customer service. There are only 2 people in that store that are helpful. Went there the Monday to ask for my takkie to be kept until Tuesday 9am I was waiting outside the store at 8.57am the next day excited to buy my sneakers and they sold it after telling me they would keep it. I'm so disappointed and upset honestly.
Haven't been to Spur in a very long time and every time I visit the n1 city branch I am so disappointed in the service and the burgers was so dry no sauce on and I came in my lunch time to actually get back at work to see this disappointment. I couldn't go back because my lunch was only 30 minutes, the girl told me it would take 12 minutes, yet I waited a whole 23 minutes with no decency to actually tell me that they are running late but it would be out soon. This was so disappointing the tomato on my burger was so thick and small, everything was just disappointing. I will never go back to Spur again just for this reasons that every time I decide to eat there, I get disappointed. Please do something about your food that is so expensive yet disappointing.
