I have completed an online application for my matric exemption certificate on 11 Dec 2025, paid R1000 which is non-refundable, and to date I have not received any feedback, even couried my documents two days later and have not received any response. The contact numbers on their website simply just rings without anyone answering. Also sent an email with my proof of payment and application number on 19 Dec 2025 and today 5 Jan 2026, no response, note this is also uploaded to their website when you do the application. My current application to study is pending at the Business School, pending the outcome of this exemption. It is extremely frustrating and disappointing that there is no way of getting hold of anyone here.My online application still shows that my payment needs to be verified. How do I speak to anyone here!!!

I app**** for Mature age Matriculation Exemption last year October and issued a Provisional Letter that states I qualify for Mature Age Exemption, now the very Provisional Letter that was issued expired within 120 days of issue and before I could even get a response from the University I app**** at so that I could be issued a full exemption certificate. Out of the blue I get an email that states I forfaited the money that I paid. How do I get my exemption certificate then because some Universities do not accept a provisional letter they require a full exemption certificate and full exemption results. Not to mention a refund but where is fairness when they know we cannot accept ourselves at Universities and the timeframe they give is stupid for University's response. I cannot apply for an exemption then decide to stay at home with it, why did I apply for it in the first place, if it won't work and gather dust at home? I should have used my R800 for better stuff than waste my time. Please Peter help me i'm frustrated.

I am super impressed. I HAD to lay a compliment here I made enquiries about a matric exemption that I had from 18 years ago and by merely giving them my student ID number, they gave me the exemption on file. 18 years ago???!!! An even greater shock was that it literally took 2 minutes from me logging my enquiry to receiving the statement. I am so impressed. Thank you so much.

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the handling of my matriculation exemption application. I have paid the required fee four times and submitted all necessary and verified documentation, yet I continue to face unjustified rejections and poor service. Despite submitting the following: Proof of completion of a Foundation Programme with Unisa (NQF Level 5 diploma and results), Evidence of my completed degree at an NQF Level 7, and Documentation meeting the stated criteria for a complete exemption by virtue of post-school qualifications (par 18), I receive the same response: “The applicant does not qualify for any type of exemption on the basis of the documentation submitted to this office.” Your response further requests an academic record for the Foundation Programme, which I have already provided, and suggests that I apply for a condonation of error signed by The Registrar—despite the fact that I clearly meet the minimum criteria as outlined on your website. I am 40 years old, with an NQF Level 7 qualification, and have fulfilled all the post-school requirements to qualify for this exemption. Holding on calls for nearly two hours only to receive no assistance further adds to the frustration. This lack of accountability and willingness to resolve my issue is unacceptable. Additionally, Unisa has refused to provide the necessary support unless I register for the 2025 academic year, which is both unprofessional and contrary to the principles of service delivery. I request the following immediate actions: A detailed review of my exemption application and supporting documents. Confirmation of my eligibility for exemption based on my qualifications. Clear communication of any further steps, if applicable, with a timeline for resolution. I expect a resolution to this matter within 10 working days. If no satisfactory response is received, I will escalate this complaint to higher authorities, including the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Your prompt attention and action on this matter will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely,

Completed the application in November 2023. To date still no resolution, I have been told documents are oustanding but these were all sent via courrier and received, I have proof of delivery. All tbis has been sent to them. No one ever answers the phone and I keep receiving a generic email from them and nothing else! Does anyone even work there? How pathetic, so much money spent on this application and NOTHING! How can they treat people like this. Unacceptable!

What a Disgusting service we get from Universities SA Matriculation Board Exemption for degree studies while we pay from our own pockets and those people behind Universitas SA not doing their work it clearly shows that this whole matriculation Board thing is indeed a ****. I app**** on the 3rd of this month(April 2023) and paid and also sent proof of payments but still I got no email nor sms confirmation from you guys my application is still on stage 1 "that only states that I have complete and sent my application" . What about my R700 payment I have paid into your account? It's more than 7days now for my application not to be on stage 2 or 4 also payment should be cleared a long time ago we on the 14th day since I have app**** how pathetic are you guys? Universities SA Matriculation Board Exemption for degree studies Is Clearly An Evidence That South Africa Will Never Improve As long As Lazy People Who Are Also Not Open Minded, Are Appointed To Do The Job This has nothing to do with the system but the people who are in charge. More investigations needs to be done in this Universities SA asp I'm sure I'm not the only victim here there is millions of people who you have ****med. It's shameful to think that a Matriculation Board can cooperate the way you do. No Email Go Through, No Phone Calls Are Being Answered! I'm Here To Let Universities SA Know That Enough Is Enough!. We can't be waiting for our whole life for your response! When we app**** we took some of our time off to apply and also paid application fee, and I'm sure that you guys don't know how hard it is to get R700 and pay for this hoping that it will go a long way and our application will be inspected and approved at the end of the day but what do we get from you? Nothing! It's like I have wasted my hard earned money and time to apply. We are tired of this horrible, pathetic service we get from you. It's just like we have app**** and paid into something that's not off service and that's also not working. I hope this will be resolved in an applicable matter. Enough Is Enough For How Long Will We Fight For Equal Education That Will Allow All Of Us To Study! The Struggle continues indeed but we'll keep fighting! It's time for some improvements to be done. It's time.. and this system favoritism will end in no time. We as youth of the republic of SA had enough of this thing of the system favoritism. Do your job as you are appointed to!

Absolutely disgusting service. Both your website and you phone lines indicate that you opened the 4th of January. I have been trying non-stop to speak to someone other than the automated response on the other end of the phone. It just rings. However, when I called now just after 4 PM there is a different response stating that your hours close at 4 PM. So why has no one answered any calls before then? I have spent since the morning of the 4th of Jan and until just after 4 PM today (the 6th) and have had no communication or responses. I have sent countless emails both using the supplied email address on the website, via my own email account, as well as the fields that can be filled in on the website in order to be contacted. I have spent 2 days "chatting" with the WhatsApp chat facility offered only to be replied to that I firstly my question was not understood and I should type in the word "agent" in order to be put in contact with an agent. I have 2 days worth of back and forth of: "Please note your question is unclear. Please rephrase your question, or if you prefer to be transferred to a call centre agent, please type the word AGENT. Customer service is our top priority. .". I type in the word "agent" and the only reply I keep receiving each time I type it in is : Thank you, We are connecting you to one of our agents to assist further ...". This is absolutely appalling service. It took less than 24 hrs to have my high school transcripts sent to from the school overseas and in MORE time than that I still have not been ale to speak to a person. I would like to say that I am surprised by this type of service however sadly I cannot say so. It is just the usual type of service and customer care we are receiving here in South Africa.
