I am writing this review with genuine sadness and deep disappointment. As a returning guest who has stayed at this hotel multiple times with my family (my husband and toddler), I used to have high expectations. Unfortunately, over the last year, the value and quality of the experience have plummeted. My last three stays, including the most recent one last night, have been pathetic and demonstrate a serious decline in basic maintenance and service standards. ❌ Pattern of Failure: Last Year's Nightmare Stay During a stay last year, we booked a higher-end room only to be put through a completely exhausting and unacceptable ordeal. We returned to our room to find no hot water. After a maintenance attempt failed, we were moved to a new room hours later. We had to move all our belongings, including a cot for our child, only to discover the air conditioning did not work in the middle of summer. After another failed maintenance visit, we were finally moved to a Presidential Suite around 11:00 PM, effectively ruining our evening. By that point, we were so exhausted all we could do was bathe and sleep. A significant portion of our stay was wasted just moving rooms. 🤢 A Health and Safety Concern: My Recent Stay My most recent stay was absolutely horrible and presented a potential health and safety concern for my family. When we went to bathe, the shower drain was backing up black guck and holding water. We were forced to stand and shower in this black dirt with a toddler, which I do not consider safe or hygienic. We reported the issue, and a manager finally sent maintenance 45 minutes later. While they plunged the drain, the black residue was left coating the bathtub. We could not use the tub and ultimately had to abandon our plans for the day and rush home just to bathe, completely ruining our planned day out. 🎁 Special Occasion Ruined by Poor Organization Adding insult to injury, we were also delayed at check-in, as our room was not ready at the official check-in time. My husband had booked a special set-up for my birthday, but because the hotel could not get our assigned room ready and had to switch us, the special arrangements were completely missed. 🛑 Summary When a hotel is constantly failing on fundamental amenities like working plumbing, functional air conditioning, and basic cleanliness, it shows a complete lack of commitment to guest comfort and maintenance. After multiple disappointing stays, I cannot recommend this hotel and will be looking for alternative accommodations for my future visits. The pattern of issues here is simply unacceptable for a hotel with these prices and previous reputation.

Complaint Regarding Unreturned Lost Property - Room 1926 (April 11-13, 2025) To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my significant disappointment regarding the handling of my lost property following my stay at the Elangeni Hotel from April 11th to April 13th, 2025. My booking was arranged by my employer, and I was accommodated in Room 1926. Upon checking out on April 13th, I inadvertently left a pair of sneakers in the room. A week later, after realizing my oversight, I immediately contacted the hotel. The lady I spoke with took my details and assured me that an investigation would be launched. However, since that initial call, I have received no communication from the hotel. Despite numerous attempts to follow up by calling your reception, I have consistently been met with assurances that someone would "get back to me." Weeks have now passed, and this lack of proactive communication and resolution is concerning. I understand that oversight can occur, but the subsequent absence of accountability and communication from the hotel staff is frankly disheartening. It gives the impression that client care diminishes significantly once a booking is complete, and it has regrettably eroded my confidence in your establishment. The perceived disregard for guests' belongings is particularly troubling. I urge you to investigate this matter thoroughly and provide a prompt resolution regarding the return of my sneakers. I spent 2 nights at the Elangeni Hotel .25th and 26th Sept 2024 .I had a very good experience .The room was beautiful and clean and the staff were very friendly .My daughter kept wanting to swim in the pool .I will definately be visiting again and will recommend this hotel to my friends .The food was also very delicious .I cannot fault them at all .

Hi, we hosted a function at this venue in February 2024. There was not a lot to complain about, everything went well, food was great. However the problem began during the functoin. We had booked for 120 guests at R500pp (Buffet Menu 3). On the day however they served us one meal short (Lamb Curry), which was one of the main reasons we opted for the full menu package. The package the served us was infact the lower option which was Buffet Menu 2 which costed R445pp. Upon complaining to the on duty manager for the evening he said his chefs could not prepare this meal as everything was frozen. We were fine with this as he informed us that the Hotel/Venue would reimburse us for the meal that was not served. Unfortunately it has now been months after the function and i can barely get an email response regarding my refund. It is sad that this venue remains so highly rated yet with such poor customer service. If it was a small function i can understand not wanting to refund your customer. But the have now charged me R55pp extra for a Menu setting that was not served properly. I even went to the extent of recommending that instead of the refund they issue me with vouchers to the remaining value (R6600) for which i can untilise the buffet restuarant and have meals with my family. Even that has been left with no response. It is deeply saddening that it has come to this and for me to have to leave such a sour review for such a lovely place and venue for hosting functions.

Hi, we hosted a function at this venue in February 2024. There was not a lot to complain about, everything went well, food was great. However the problem began during the functoin. I am currently staying at Elangeni for the festive season from Christmas to after new years. The hotel rooms are currently pathetic. The phones don’t work, the windows don’t close, air condition not working, and after numerous phone calls to reception regarding all these aspects nothing changed. Will never stay in this hotel again ! I am utterly disappointed with the service we have received.

Best customer service from reception (professional and very friendly staff), impeccable and well-maintained rooms, and the food is delicious and well presented. I would certainly recommend it as the best hotel to anyone and possibly extend my current stay!

My Dad turned 70 years old on the 27th Feb and as his gift, I booked him, my Mum and nephews in at the Elangeni Hotel. In my request to the hotel, I asked them to make his experience special. I sent an email a few days before his arrival at the hotel. My requests were, move them to a higher room, add a birthday card in the room... basically making his experience special. To our dismay and upon arrival, nothing ever was done. Instead my Brother who transported my Parents to the hotel got attitude at the reception area, no willingness to help, My Parents got an absolutely terrible room (cramped). When I asked my Dad if he found anything special in the room, he said there was nothing. My Mum eluded to say the room was cramped and it was not nice. Only after I called did the Guest Manager (who herself tried cutting me off) said she would help... but her help was not on par as what I expect the Elangeni to provide. Letitia, your team needs a jack up. After covid, I would expect the level of experience to improve. I want to know from you, how are you going to turn around this experience for me. I have and still support Tsogo sun but after this experience, I don't think I'm going to bother.

I have been at elangani tsogo sun hotel and for the 02nd day I am queuing for breakfast, queuing for over 25 minutes. This hotel charges premium rate and rates itself as 4 star but cannot manage guest breakfast arrangement and quite often their room services and front desk lines are unreachable. Queuing for over 25 minutes for breakfast clearly not a 4 star experience.
